Good morning everyone,
:wave:working mum the cauli soup sounds lovely:)
:eek:Brambling no wonder you were properly awake afterwards, but you know you love him really
Hope YouTube comes up with an easy way to fix the DW Farway
It's little milder but damp and cloudy, lots of black ice on pavements and paths still so another day indoors for me. I've not much planned apart from some chores and I need to wrap a birthday pressie.
Lunch will be a bowl of stovies after which there will be a portion left which I'll freeze for another day.
Breaded pollock, veg and a baked spud or wedges for dinner tonight.0 -
Yesterday I had 2 sausage rolls; 2 sausage rolls/chips/beans; a packet of crisps.
Today I've had 2x toast/beans/scrambled eggs; 8 squares of chocolate. In a bit I'll have 2 sausage rolls (that's the end of that pack).
I'd like to be cooking more ... but everything I think of is "stinky" ... and often SC based - and I fear a short notice call from agents with a viewer, so then I don't bother with the long-winded/stinky stuff at all. e.g. yesterday I thought of knocking up a biryani rice with spices and onions (stinky!); today I thought of knockup up a veg chow mein with onions (stinky!).
I'm "playing" with the current loaf - just got it on the worktop to see how long it lasts before it goes green. I bought it last week; date sticker says 21 January. It's still absolutely fine. Wouldn't be good to eat in sandwiches as it's lost whatever springiness it had, but it's fine for toast. I'm trying to see how long these loaves last, to avoid freezing half a loaf when they reach their date.0 -

I do love just a pile of mash ... and, as you say, if beans can be remembered, then that's great too
If I have cold mash to re-heat I'll spoon out the portion, stick it in the nuker, then dip the spoon in for a spoon of cold mash and eat that bit right away too0 -

Good evening everyone,
Did you get your DW fixed Farway?
It was getting dark before the ice properly lifted from my slabs today consequently apart from gingerly edging to the bin and to fill the bird feeders it's been another day indoors for me. It started raining a little while ago and is supposed to get milder overnight - fingers crossed it's ice-free tomorrow as I want to get some fresh air even if it just a trundle round the block.:)
My pot of stovies did well as I've had them 3 times and there is one portion left for the freezer. The ingredients cost no more than £2.50 so definitely a winner all round:).
Easy dinner tonight of breaded pollock, baked spud, peas & carrots.0 -
I was toying with the idea of driving to 4ldi about now... but it's so bitter out there I'm talking myself out of it.
I don't "need" anything - in that I've got a lot of food I could eat here.... and if I go out I'll just buy "more food" .... but there are an increasing number of things I have run out of that "might be handy" if I went and bought them, like bread, eggs, spuds ....
I think I'll continue to dig around in the freezer for some days to come. Every recipe I fancy though includes 2-3 ingredients I don't have ... and you start to get fed up of "eating what you've got" and not what you fancy.
I've had my heating on for quite some time now - and it's still only 64F/17C in here!0 -

Hard frost overnight, which I guess meant you had to scrape windscreen free again Brambling?
Meanwhile the "in soak" bowls are slowly building up in the sink:o
Unfortunately there was much scraping this morning Farway and darn cold it was to, not sure what's wrong with car but ice inside of windscreen too  just to confirm the meet up is to only swap one manky pot:eek::eek:Brambling no wonder you were properly awake afterwards, but you know you love him really .
The house would be quiet without him Caronc for a cat who doesn't meow he can make his presence known :rotfl:
Just another day in the office today, same old stuffunfortunately more cake arrived on the kitchen table as one of our ladies is going on mat leave
Lunch was the last of the minestrone soup and dinner was baked cod, HM oven chips and green vegLife shrinks or expands in proportion to one's courage - Anais Nin0
