Good evening all, I hope no one is feeling under par!
Been a bright cold day today. Took my outside lights down whilst the weather was favourable. Also took the cards Down from the hall ,they're in the recycling now. . The rest if the Dec's will be down tomorrow as I'm back to work again Thursday. Might leave tree up till sat. See how I get on tomorrow.
I seem to have a mouse!!!
The house backs on to fields and so it's not unexpected, but I'm not keen. I thought I heard in my cavity wall, my Bil came to check the loft but couldn't see any sign. But it's had a nibble of my heated wheat bag !! Which is in the cupboard next to sink.
So today has been spent cleaning them out and making sure nothing is available for it to eat!!!!
I'm hoping Bil will get some traps, as I don't want to share house with it. May have to keep the cat in.;)Focus on contribution instead of the impressiveness of consumption to see the true beauty in people.0 -

Good morning everyone,
I thought I was returning to CFO today but my elder son and his fiancee are here until tomorrow:). Though my younger son heads off today:(. I had a lovely day yesterday but seem to have a fridge full of accumulated LOs from the past few days so today's challenge will be be to give the fridge a quick sort through. I reckon apart from fresh stuff and household bits I'll not need much shopping this month.:)
It's really cold here today, it was -3C overnight and really icy outside, another day pottering indoors I think:)0 -
I'm the opposite the fridge and freezer are run down. My niece is taking me shopping I've not been for about a month.
I'm thinking of putting some potatoes and onions in the slow cooker, to have with pie , and put lo in freezer.
Frost on the ground today and much colder, for a couple of days.Focus on contribution instead of the impressiveness of consumption to see the true beauty in people.0 -
After over ten days I am back to cooking for one :j Don't misunderstand me , I love having family over but it is good to have got rid of the biscuits, fancy cheeses etc and have normal food.
Might have some porridge to tide me over till a lunch of soup or a sandwich before going to volunteer at the library this afternoon.
Now have a bowl of porridge and taken a couple of home made meals out of the freezer and rearranged the small freezer better so quite pleased with myself."This site is addictive!"

I can now confess, I had a RAT over Christmas, moved in on 19th, same place as you, in under sink cupboard, no food in there, but had a nibble at the dishwasher salt bag, must've been a big disappointment when it took a bite:D
I had rodent poison in stock, LO from when daft bat ex next door was leaving bread near house. I used that then switched to newer stuff, checked & renewed daily.
On Saturday I bought some more, just in case, and a rat trap, like a big mouse trap. Checked house exterior for gaps, only place I could see was small slot above sink drain pipe, I bunged that up with wire mesh
Since then, all seems rat free, no idea if died from poison or just can't get in, but hey ho, job done, fingers crossed:)
Trifle was a success, plenty left if anyone wants to pop round to check rat defences:D
Breakfast of porridge
Lunch will be defrosted mini pizza
Dinner, no idea, but trifle will be on the menuEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0 -

In my house it is usually a cat who's responsible for the mouse or shrew being indoors :cool:I can now confess, I had a RAT over Christmas, moved in on 19th, same place as you, in under sink cupboard

:eek::eek: I can cope with catching mice If I have too, however with rats sorry you're on your own, I blame James Herberts book The Rats which I read in my mid teens can't even watch TV if they're on
I really didn't want to get up this morningcold, dark and too early, although luckily no frost yet but that's to come later this week. I also got on the scales  it wasn't pretty so back on the healthy eating today
. Not helped with everyone bringing in unwanted Christmas food into the office we've obviously all got the same idea to remove it from the house. I've been threatened with violence if I take anything down to my sister for my nephew as she has also been on the scales today
Lunch was HM chicken soup. I'm not sure about dinner as I need to pop out so it will be something quick when I get back, I forgot to take anything out of the freezer so will be omelette or jacket potato with beans :think:Life shrinks or expands in proportion to one's courage - Anais Nin0 -
I've just had baked beans on toast with Marmite for lunch and then HM soup with chip rolls for dinner. I stole some of my husband's chips.
I haven't been that hungry today as I got up late again!
I can't have another late night as I have to get up early tomorrow to see my GP. It's the good looking guy.:A0 -

Good morning everyone,
CFO resumes - while I'll miss the kids being here I'm also quite looking forward to getting back into my routine.
 re the rat Farway, I get field mice coming in when it gets really cold but thankfully no sign of any rats indoors. I know they will be about outdoors as I like near a railway embankment but so far I've never been invaded.
I gave the fridge a bit of a tidy and some LOs have been used or frozen and a couple of sad salady bits binned. I've both salmon and lamb left from the 1st so I'll make a pan of mash and use some of the salmon for fish cakes tonight and some for a shepherds pie tomorrow. I've lots of cheese left, this year it was the sweet stuff that got scoffed but it has long use bys. I need to go through the veg drawer and check what is there and needing used up. The kids got me eggs yesterday as they were all finished so I shouldn't need anything else until next week.0
