Careful, you'll have Brambling chucking it out:D:D

Just checked my cupboards for trifle making bits, all in place, maybe if I go out mooching tomorrow I could splurge on some tinned fruit. I've got plenty of fresh, but proper 1950s style trifle uses tinned and I've only tinned grapefruit bits

    :rotfl::rotfl: I don't know what you mean :D

I hope you brought tin fruit salad, if I remember correctly from the 70s a proper trifle had fruit salad in :D

No NY parties for me either :) just popping out for dinner at my sister, friends of hers will be there so we we'll play some board games not sure if either of my nephews will be there if the youngest isn't i might stand a chance at winning once or twice :p

Lunch was repeat of yesterday dinner bubble and squeak LO roast beef and HM pickle red cabbage. Dinner will I believe be pizza and salad :) I doubt if I'll see in the new year, the cat doesn't seem to mind fireworks but I will probably be home by midnight otherwise the car turns into a pumpkin :rotfl:

Wednesday if you're not eating enough your body can hold on to the lbs as well although sometimes you can lose it in inches, hopefully health else 2019 will be better for you :)

Happy New year to all whether a quiet night in or you're celebrating Hogmanay and of course PN

I think that might be happening, it's bad for you as you lose muscle mass as well. I'm going to keep a food diary from now on.:)

What concert are you watching WEDNESDAY? I could do with something good to watch. I watched the film "I Tonya" on Netflix the other night.Very powerful n moving :o

  • SC curry came out tasting lovely. I added a small can of chickpeas & some frozen spinach. The chickpeas softened up really nice, they'd have been a good substitute for the chicken.
Only two downsides - is it came out a bit watery. I added a flour slurry, but it didn't make much difference. & I've now got 3 good portions that I can't freeze cos the cooked chicken in it was previously frozen. I'll not be freezing cooked chicken again, I think.
The wateryness can be easily solved by return the next portions in a milk pan on high. I also want to say it should be more oily, but it's NY & I'm need to get back to losing weight....

I hope everyone has a good evening & happy new year to you all!
  • I'm going to make Indian roasted chickpeas as a snack tonight.

    Good evening everyone,

Just popping in to wish everyone a "Happy Hogmanay".
No parties here but the kids are staying in and cooking Chinese food for us - smacked cucumber in a garlicy sauce, Kung Pau chicken, pork dumplings, a pak choi and mushroom dish and chilli fries. I'm very much looking forward to it.:D
Tomorrow the kids are heading to their Dad's and I'm cooking for my Dad, sis, nephew, his gf and her friend. Did most of the prep this afternoon so hopefully not too stressful tomorrow. ;)

Happy New Year from me to all

I'm still in scoff XCFO mode, the bits for trifle are lined up, never went out but remembered I'd got frozen mixed berries in my new freezer, defrosting at the moment, I'll use them + fresh clementine segments

The custard topping will be in true CFO style, OOD Morries not "instant whip":o

Morning spent sorting online banking / savings, my annual get it in order job

Sun's out, wish back was a bit less wonky, would be nice to do a bit more tidying but common sense must be order of the day for now

    Breakfast was porridge
Lunch, will be fried egg sarnie
Dinner, to be last of the on offer bangers, frozen chips, fried eggs, LO mushrooms + LO beans
Eight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens
