There are gherkins in tartare sauce so I understand why it goes together with the fish fingers, a lighter option to the sauce.

Another day with rain and thunder with blue skies in between. I managed to get the last of my garden rubbish which was in the wheel barrow into my wheelie bin but it was a very wet process.

I managed to tick an couple of it items off my to do list today involving some phone calls, I decided I needed to deal with some of my own outstanding jobs as a lot has been pushed to the side dealing with EF. She will not be happy next visit as I haven't cleared her list!

I decided not to freeze my LO chilli so had a small portion on its own for lunch and the rest with a jacket potato for dinner

I noticed those duck strips JKS and wondered what they would be like, but havent seen them with YS yet  😉although whilst tidying the freezer this morning I found a forgotten duck breast in there, so will have it sometime this weekend.

I went out early to get some cash and go to the fishmonger, my goodness what a selection she had today. I opted for a piece of monkfish which I’ll marinade in soy sauce, honey, ginger & chilli to make kebabs for dinner tonight.

I’m also defrosting some turkey mince to make a batch of meatballs/koftas they’ll be handy to have for pasta dishes or lunchtime pittas.

    Good morning everyone,

Dry and semi sunny here but still chilly. I'll see how the day goes and might do some more potting on later.

Like you Brambling I have a pile of my own rather my voluntary admin to get off my "to do" today.

I opted for salmon last night simply baked with Cajun spice, lemon and diced veg in foil in the AF which I had with AF veg chips. There's salmon LO which I'll have with the remaining LO curry rice mix and a boiled egg as a take on kedgeree for lunch. I've a couple of chicken thighs defrosting for dinner which I plan to skin and marinate in yoghurt and spices. I'll have those with veg and cauli & broccoli rice.

Mixed weather agin, sun & showers, and still cool but supposed to be warming up over next few days.

Brambling I decided not to freeze my LO chilli so had a small portion on its own for lunch and the rest with a jacket potato for dinner. Not had that for years, stolen for later 😉

    Lunch, cheese toastie

Dinner, posh fish F's, with LO mash + LO beans

Exactly Brambling, re the gherkins/tartare sauce. Did you enjoy Farway?

YS M&S duck strips were a good find, N2BT 😉. Your monkfish sounds lovely 😋

Sunny on and off here today with a gentle breeze but dry so whites load shoved through and out on the line, have quite a pile of ironing now!

Proper use up day for food. End of the smoked mackerel and creme fraiche dressing turned into a sort of rarebit for lunch with side salad. Chorizo, new potato, mushroom and red pepper traybake with side salad tonight. All sorts of bits decluttered between those two meals 🙃

Delivery of lawn mower was well timed and I just got to volunteering on time, I've informed the neighbour that it's my turn to help him, but that depends on the weather.

Volunteering was busy properly as it wasn't too sunny and just the occasional shower, it was cooler again.

Prawn and egg pasta salad for lunch. Dinner was the second half of pack of prawns with some asparagus in a risotto

Mixed sun & clouds, rain maybe later, but milder, heating not required at least

JKS Exactly Brambling, re the gherkins/tartare sauce. Did you enjoy Farway? Yes thanks, nice change. Actually it was just as well because the "spare" jar of tartare was BB 2019, and even I am wary of that far OOD items with oils & eggs in them. Binned

Lunch, use up eggs, scrambled on toast

Dinner, last of the posh F fingers, with AF chips + frozen peas

Thanks JKS the monkfish was lovely and made a nice change. I half cooked the peppers and shallot in the AF before making up the kebabs and everything cooked perfectly in the end.

NIce and sunny this morning but supposed to cloud over this afternoon and rain coming later, got a load of washing out early to be sure it would dry.

Something fishy going on today too -

    Lunch - prawn salad pitta

Dinner - smoked haddock mornay, jersey royals & peas

    Good morning everyone,

Dry here just now but supposed to get very wet this afternoon. DS2 moved some compost to the deck so I can pot on at my leisure without getting soaked. Yesterday got swallowed up between admin and doing some more wardrobe clearing. This weight loss malarkey is costing me a fortune lol!(Not that I'm complaining.😉) There's a big bag to go to one of my friend's, one for the CS and one for the clothes recycling bin at the tip. I've had to buy a fair bit of new stuff this month but I think I should be pretty much covered for the next few months as long as I keep on top of the laundry!

Some lovely sounding food being eaten in CFO land! Inspired by N2BT's monkfish instead of a yoghurty marinade I skinned the thighs and cooked them in foil with veg, garlic, ginger and chill with the end of a bottle of teriyaki sauce. I had that with some courgette, carrot and BNS "chips", very good it was too and there's chicken LO for lunch. Pork steaks tonight, I'm thinking either stroganoff or with a spicy tomato & veg sauce. I'll probably make the cauli and broccoli rice I was going to make yesterday tonight instead.

it's nice to be buying clothes for the right reason Caronc congrats on the weight loss.

I met a friend for our monthly catch-up in the JL cafe this morning, we put the world to rights as usual. I didn't linger in town but did go into Brewers on the way home for some more paint colour cards, I think I've got it worked out what I want now. My to do list now includes getting in touch with the electrician re lights in the lounge/dining room and finding a carpenter to replace my 1970s dividing door with something more modern. I had planned removing them until the heating increase and I use them in the winter months now! It will definitely be a spendy year if I follow through on my plans.

My sister popped around for a quick cuppa this afternoon which turned in about 3 hours 😁 I'm away tomorrow and Monday (New Forest and Dorset) so she was threatening his lordship should he misbehave as she's on cat duty.

Bacon roll for lunch. I found some lasagna in the freezer I forgot I had a portion of a roast vegetable one, which did for dinner with tha last of my salad leaves and tomatoes
