Another very hard frost this morning but beautiful blue skies and sunshine again. There’s also a flat calm sea so thank you to whoever switched off the wave and wind machine 😁

Just a bit of meal planning and recipe searching on the To Do list today, trying to make the most of the stuff that I have in.

Sausage butty with brown sauce for lunch.

Dinner is fish pie with some veg.

    Good afternoon everyone,

Late on parade today, unfortunately took a vertigo attack and fell on my way to bed. Hit the floor like a sack of tatties flinging tea everywhere! DS2 was star and helped to get up and cleaned up etc. Today the vertigo has eased a good bit but I have a horribly bruised hip and tailbone. Downside to losing a fair whack of weight is less padding lol! Needless to say it's been a quiet day. HM tomato and lentil soup for lunch. DS2 will cook tonight - Buffalo-Style Chicken Sweet Potatoes Recipe | Tesco Real Food with various veg.

Haha, yes - sliding down a narrow track of ice at 90mph on nothing more than a tea tray, absolute madness! I also caught the end of the men’s skating with all the falling over, wondered if there would be an investigation into whether the ice was flat enough 😅

Well, the forecast sun showed up, so lovely to have windows open and potter around outside a bit.

Had some Lidl Greek aubergine in tomato sauce with feta and pitta bread for lunch. Egg fried rice with the LO Chinese pork steak, red pepper and pak choi tonight.

Back to the sliding, tonight I’m watching big air skiing, another load of bonkers people 😂

cold but beautiful day the temperature was 3c when I left just after 9am and 6c when I came home at 4pm. Petworth was busy I'm assuming a mix of the start of half term and how nice it was. Kept me on my toes. Start of the day was slightly marred by call from nursing home EF was very confused first thing but was in the lounge exercising when they called. I'll go see her tomorrow, I'm expecting a list of complaints from her.

My sister is staying again tonight as my nephew still has friends staying, the last of his 30th birthday celebrations. She was out at the coast with a friend today so didn't mind me being out. We tried to plan a holiday for August we know where and when we just to agree on the accommodation.

Rice salad with salmon for lunch. @itsthelittlethings I don't tend to follow a recipe although I may try yours. I cooked enough rice for dinner and a couple of lunches, ensuring it was cooled quickly and put in the fridge. I can't make small amounts either so had enough for two lunches and my sister finished it tonight. I chop whatever's in the fridge 🙂 this had celery, pepper, carrot, broccoli stalk, cucumber, radish, spring onion and edamame beans. I made a French dressing with red wine vinegar and added the protein when packing my lunch each day. Usually it's a little bit of each vegetable ie one stick of celery,

I meant to take chicken wings out for dinner but grabbed the wrong bag from the freezer before leaving this morning, as I was lightly flouring them my brain processed they with thighs (admittedly small ones!) and not wings so we had AF chicken tights, garlic bread and green salad for dinner (my sister had the rice salad

  • @caronc - Take it easy for a few days. Any fall is a shock to your system. Would ice bags help? You can also put wheat bags in the freezer and use them with cold as well, not just with heat. Lacking wheat, you can also use bags of rice or frozen peas. I've had to improvise many times.

I just had a weird breakfast of a lemon pot. I have physio this morning so I wanted to eat something first, but I'm eating out for lunch so I didn't want to spoil my appetite.

Back to wind & rain, but it was great yesterday and I did manage to get some much needed garden tidying done.

Caron, hope the bruising eases & is not too painful, I know when I had a tumble it looked awful but it was pain free and just looked bad

Trying to finalise my Asda order, I had included some of the Valentine meal for £12, but of course nil stock for some now. I'll have to rethink, it was the meal Deal that took me over the minimum spend, now need to decide on replacements

Lunch, stewed plums, banana & ex Christmas ice cream. The plums were YS and turned out to be sharp as lemons, so I stewed them

Dinner, ideal weather for use up last of the chicken in a use up tin of cannellini beans & chick casserole, with mash & cabbage

Good job DS2 was at home Caronc, hope you are on the mend and haven't done anything untoward.

A bit cloudier here today and the wind and waves are back but at least it’s dry and brighter than we’ve had.

Busy morning in the kitchen, bananas needed to be used so I made a cake and whilst the oven was on cooked a couple of chicken thighs to have handy for lunches and quick meals.

I’ve made a chickpea soup for my lunch and have a beef ragu on the stove to have for dinner - a lovely range of smells around the flat but by far the strongest now is garlic, red wine and oregano 😋

    Good afternoon everyone,

Thanks for the good wishes and advice, Unfortunately I'm an old hand at dealing with bump injuries so have hot/cold pads and pain relief on hand. Today I'm one big stiff ouch but did manage a shower so feel a bit more civilised. Sadly I've had to shelve plans to visit DGD as I'd never manage the stairs. Thank goodness for video calling.

LOs with salad bits for lunch. Curried cauli cheese soup with AF veg chips for dinner.
