I had a nut roast Sunday dinner yesterday at a restaurant in Bournemouth.

I'm on the train back now. I didn't have time for breakfast. We are rushing back as there is a tube strike in London today. Sigh.

Blue sky & sun again, with bit of a breeze, can definitely see leaves turning now.

Hope the tube strike does not turn your journey into a nightmare Wednesday

Lunch, salad sarnie, with freshly made BM loaf
    Dinner, salad of some sort

    Good morning everyone,
Ouch re the toe Brambling but glad you enjoyed the curry.
After a wet and miserable day yesterday (ended up lighting the stove in the evening) it's bright and sunny this morning though on the cool side.
Need to pick more ripe toms in the greenhouse and do some tidying in there. It's been a nice and steady crop this summer though not a huge yield though I think I'll still have a good few green ones to ripen in the conservatory come the end of the month.
Soup from the freezer for lunch and tonight I'm making yoghurt lamb curry which we'll have with salad and rice.

Lovely day here too but the temp must have dropped quite a bit during the night as there was some condensation on my bedroom window this morning. I checked my 2024 diary to see when I put the heating on and it was 19 Sept, definitely going to try and hold out a bit longer this year  ;)

It’s a cba kind of day so I used up the last of the houmous and crusty bread for lunch and a very easy option of baked potato with tuna and side salad tonight.

Small world indeed. I have always lived in Dorset and grew up in Lower Parkstone. When I bought my first house in Corfe Mullen in 1974 everyone said that I would be miles away from anywhere and it did indeed seem that I drove through miles of countryside to get to work in Bournemouth. That was then - now it just seems like a suburb of Poole. Everywhere has changed so much in the last 50 years. I still like it here though!

My family move back to the village when I was 18 months my oldest siblings being brought up in Pamphill.  As teenagers we felt it was miles from anywhere as my parents didn't drive and evening buses were limited.  My oldest siblings thought we had it luckier as Pamphill had no buses (I think it still doesn't?).  As kids we appreciated the freedom although any wrong doing was quickly reported back to my parents even though we had no phone, too many family members lived close by.

I decided I had better drive a bit further today if I'm driving to Petworth Saturday and that's 17 miles so drove to pick up something for sister, I came home via the farm shop but they had no turkey drum sticks 😕 I've a SM being delivered tomorrow so resisted shopping, I was a bit achy when I got back as it's a 20 mile round trip but walked some of that off.

I think creepy crawlies are taking over the house, I've just had to catch and let out what I think was a  hornet from my bedroom, I have seen one outside previously.  It did slightly freak me out when it landed on me, I brushed it onto the floor, grabbed my grabber and luckily it climbed on and I was able to carefully carry it into the bathroom where the window was open and shake it off.  🐝 . Now I've just seen a very large spider scurrying across the lounge floor, I ignored it and let it go under the sofa they don't bother me.

    Sardines on toast for lunch.

Salmon piccata with noodles and veg for dinner

Shockingly, London wasn't too bad with the strike. I googled and so we just got the overground train to London Bridge and walked to Fenchurch Street to get back to Essex. I had a sandwich and drink from Pret on the way.

I did miss a class today as I was too tired from walking around the past few days.

We certainly had the best times back then. I think today that children don't have the opportunities for what I call 'dangerous play' where we built camps, fell out of trees etc. and we sorted out our differences. I don't remember any serious injuries or lasting traumas!

You are correct - Pamphill doesn't have any buses. It's a lovely place and I hame walked dogs up there for years - down All Fools Lane and along by the river. It was (and still is) a lovely walk even though I no longer have a dog to accompany me.

It certainly is spider season! I have a resident large one who runs across the lounge floor and back to safety under the sofa.

Lunch will be a toasted cheese sandwich and this evening I'm having salmon with various vegetables.

    Good morning everyone,
Gloomy and chilly here this morning. I didn't light the stove last night but I'm kind of wishing I had as the house feels on the cool side this morning. DS2 has donned a fleece as his "office" is in the North facing part of the house.
My back feels marginally better so another day ot gently upping my exercise, apart from that I've a pile of voluntary admin to wade through.
HM Chinese style chicken noodle soup for lunch using cooked chicken from the freezer. It only takes minutes to put together so I tend to make it in one portion amounts.  :)
Trying this  salmon recipe tonight Low-calorie Moroccan-spiced salmon recipe from Pinch of Nom - Pan Macmillan

Turned out lovely again after another chilly start.

I took a trip to aldi for a change as I wanted some f&v, unfortunately on the bus on the way home a wasp managed to get under the sleeve of my blouse and the little blighter stung me twice before I got it off sadly leaving its !!!!!! attached to my arm - it also got stamped on just to emphasis how displeased I was :#  That’s the first time I’ve ever been stung and being stuck on a bus for another 20mins I was thankful I didn’t have a major reaction to it.

Some leftover tuna for lunch in a sandwich with spring onions and cucumber.

Tonight I’m having pan-fried turkey breast, greek butter beans and purple sprouting broccoli.
