I bought some chicory powder yesterday as a substitute for coffee and I just had a cup and it wasn't too bad.

Do you remember Camp? Came in a nice glass bottle. Was a liquid chicory and we all thought we were very posh if drinking it.

Camp. That is the name I was trying to remember. I knew it was one word. My parents used to have it.

I remember camp coffee, only bought it once back in the late 70's trying to make a hm version of baileys irish cream  :D

Took a trip to tesco this morning as I needed a small top up shop. Their seafood sticks were on offer so I couldn’t resist - had some with salad and coleslaw for lunch but will try and be a bit more creative with them over the next couple of days.

Defrosted a couple of chicken legs overnight, they’ll be used to make a curry for dinner tonight.

MIA yesterday as got fed in the evening. Jazzed up the last of the average bean burgers with cheese and pickled gherkins for lunch, in a bun with lettuce.

Morning of meetings today but have also got some tasks completed. Houmous, carrot sticks, pitta, olives and cheese for lunch. Tonight I used LO Spanish chicken, chorizo and new potatoes in a quesadilla with some red pepper and cheese. Served with a green salad including the end of an avocado.

There was a rain feel when I walked at 8am but it came to nothing and was a nice overcast cool day 🙂

I noticed that something had spilled in the fridge and with a shop due this evening decided to clean the fridge.  It was a slow process, clean a shelf then sit down for a bit but it looks so much better even if I'm now achy!

just one substitute from Ocardo which I sent back and my treat tub of vanilla ice cream was damaged, I managed to chase down the man waving my stick as he turned the van so he took that back as well. I stocked up on some chicken, salmon and duck strips last minute (removing full price items) as they were in their flash sale so 40% off, most of it will go in the freezer as they are dated the 23rd

Tuna mayo sandwich for lunch.  Chicken and mushroom pie for dinner with some runner beans from my sisters garden and new potatoes.  The pie was another flash sales so 40% off and very nice, I've not had a Pieminister pie before I wouldn't pay the full price £4.80 but 40% or YS I would buy again it was a generous single size pie 😋

Fishcakes were absolutely delicious last night and I have enough to make three more tonight. Will have them with a few chips and some salad again.

I'm having another cup of chicory. I have some frozen fruit to use up so I'm making a smoothie. I've run out of bread so I will have to buy some while I'm out. I am getting a pedicure today which will probably be my last one of the year as I don't bother when it gets colder.

Trip to argos and home bargains this morning as I needed a new canister for my “busy with the fizzy” machine and some toiletries.

Hot smoked salmon and grapefruit salad for lunch.

I picked up some gram flour from the local “scoops” shop and will try making some courgette and seafood stick pakora tonight; I got the idea from Nadiya’s Fast Flavours when she made this recipe https://thehappyfoodie.co.uk/recipes/nadiya-hussains-crabstick-po-boys/

Remember it well, my Nan used to make us a cup using milk. That was in the 50s, rationing & before instant coffee was "normal"
She also had some based on dandelion roots, which was not as nice as Camp. Was another one Bev?

    Good afternoon,
Both my grandmother's swore that Camp coffee was a must for baking so it was something I grew up with.
I think I'm feeling a bit more like it today thankfully, slept solidly from around midnight until nearly 8, it's unusual for me to have an unbroken sleep of that length but seems to have helped.
DS2 has been oiling the deck so the back garden has been out of bounds for a couple days, he's been watering things but I'll have a potter about this afternoon.
LO salmon for lunch in a wrap with salad. HM tandoori still chicken tonight with the spare curry sauce I froze last week. We'll have it with rice and naan.
