  • Heavy rain mid-morning but has turned out nice and bright.

I too am trying to use up, lunch is a large salad with cheese, coleslaw, pickled beetroot and a toasted pitta.

The brussel sprouts are beginning to look a bit sad, some yellowing a bit so its a case of what goes with sprouts? Decided on a pork chop, mustard mashed potatoes, half of the sprouts leaving a portion for tomorrow :) .

    Hi Patricia 👋

my sister was still on oxygen this morning but they were hoping to take her off this evening in the hope of sending her home tomorrow, less germs there!  My eldest nephew thinks she did too much over the Xmas period as she hosted her family (4 generations) for her birthday on the 23rd and Christmas Day, even with help she probably did too much.  She wouldn't appreciate being told to slow down!

I went out early evening and came home via Waitrose just a few fresh bits needed to cook roast lamb for my sister tomorrow night, I was led astray by the assistant on the fish counter who offered me four light smoked salmon fillets for £2.30 ( not needed but too good to say no to) and a YS half price garlic and herb chicken in a bag, all have gone into the freezer

Mislabelled soup from the freezer it said squash but was Italian wedding soup. Cheese omelette and salad for dinner

    Good morning everyone,
I hope your sister is well enough to get discharged today Brambling. She'll want to see in the New Year in her own home,
Hello Patricia, sounds delicious - salmon and cream cheese is one of my favourite combinations.
The weather is foul here and supposed to get much worse as the day goes on. There's supposed to be a slight lull in the wind for an hour or so around noon so DS2 is planning to give the pooches a decent walk then.
Cooking and cleaning for me today. I don't celebrate Hogmanay so may or may not still be awake at the bells. Usually I'd host a family dinner on the 1st but my nephew is working so we are having our New Year roast on the 2nd instead. My sis will still come for dinner tomorrow but I'm making turkey soup from the Christmas dinner LOs I froze and I've bought nice bread and there's plenty of cheese and cold meat,
Lunch is tbc possible a roll and Lorne sausage. Tonight it's chicken fajitas.

Lunch was pate & tom sarnie using some fresh loaf
Dinner, something using LO mash & LO HM coleslaw

  • Not too bad a day here, we did have some heavy rain first thing but nothing since, sunny intervals and a moderate breeze. Hopefully it will be okay for the revellers tonight, but I'm another who doesn't stay up for "the bells" I'll be cosy in bed well before then.

    Soup and toast for lunch.

Macaroni cheese tonight, haven't quite decided what to have along with it yet.

    Happy New Year everyone 🎆

I think the year is starting the same as it went out, wet and windy! Email from Petworth saying they are closed tomorrow because of the forecast of high winds. Will see if I'm volunteering on Thursday

Sausage sandwich for lunch, I forgot I had taken them out of the fridge to make scotch eggs 🙄 I fed my sister tonight lamb roast dinner 😋 we then went to mutual friends for the evening and played games,

Diet starts again tomorrow especially if I need the hip replaced  :#

    Happy New Year everyone,
Baltic and pouring here so far but supposed to dry up and freeze this evening.
I'll be restarting my diet on Monday, first challenge is to shift the few pounds that have no crept on over the festive period!
My sister is popping by for dinner this evening before heading to Glasgow to pick up my nephew when he finishes work. I made the soup yesterday but hope to do some of the prep for tomorrow's dinner today apart from that and the routine chores I've no plans.
LO fajitas for lunch, turkey soup and cheese board for dinner.

Happy New Year! I did hear a few fireworks last night near me. I was up late watching TV and YT so I slept in. I am going to have a cup of tea in a minute.

Defrosting all that's required for turkey curry tomorrow but tonight is a NY favourite of hm steak pie, mashed potatoes, brussels and skirlie.
