  • It felt very cold in central London yesterday, colder than where I am by the coast. I had lunch in a Swedish cafe that I haven't tried before and I ate so much that I wasn't hungry for dinner. I had a croissant with jam, a toastie, a veggie sausage roll and some mulled wine. Then I had a few bites of apple crumble and ice cream.

I just had a cup of tea and I'm going to have a smoothie and toast before I go out.

    Good morning everyone,
The weather yesterday was horrible. I got drenched despite only been out in the wind and rain for a few minutes and although it was much milder I then felt chilly all day despite a change of clothes and the heating on! It's dry just now though rain is due this afternoon but much cooler.
DS2 did an excellent job of cleaning the kitchen and conservatory yesterday, he's just heading to  buy a Christmas tree and once that's up we can get the floor hoovered and mopped. I've some admin to tackle which I'll do when he's out and then hopefully that's the voluntary stuff done and dusted until the New Year.
LO chicken and salad for lunch, tonight it's JO's bacon and bean pasta.

Wet & windy start, but brightening now

My Asda delivery arrived, nearly intact, only out-of-stock was goats cheese, which I was only trying out so no loss there
Amazingly, the [half price offer] fresh lamb leg & pork are well in date until post Christmas, and the large bag of spuds has some beauties in it, ideal for jackets.
My fridge is nearly full now, I'll have to not go mad in Morries on Friday, I need to go there to get a poinsettia as a present and maybe some cheap sprouts / veg. I know it will be hell, but needs must.

    Lunch, use mushrooms in omelette
Dinner, use up LO gammon, with jacket spud & salad bits

Took a while for the sun to get up this morning, but turned out nice and feels very mild, the wind is getting up a bit as we've got large waves heading ashore.

Out to the fish mongers early on and picked up a piece of haddock and a nice tail end of salmon, which I cut into 3 portions, two for the freezer and one for tea tonight.

Blue sky and sunshine, cooler though as a trade-off.

DD near Southampton is affected by the Southern water shortage, off to the bottled water distribution centre for a few days. Luckily, there are strapping DGC to give her a hand.

Supposed to be going over on Boxing Day, so fingers crossed it's all sorted by then, should be with all the political & commercial pressure bearing down, but sometimes things take longer for many reasons. I remember on one course the obvious example is pregnancy, you can put nine women on the task, but it still takes nine months. :)

Have to finally adjust the Waitrose list for Saturday delivery

    Lunch, some sort of sandwich
Dinner, last of the ham, with nuked jacket spud

Lunch was crackers, cheese, grapes & satsumas.

Tonight I'm having hm meatloaf, mashed potatoes and brussel sprouts.

    Good evening everyone,
Late on parade today after spending a frustrating morning on the phone to HMRC without actually managing to speak to anyone that could assist trying to clarify why HMRC had sent a strange (but genuine letter) to the voluntary group I support! I've done what I can online but they wrote on the 6th, we got it yesterday and the deadline is 1st January! Reckon I've got the proverbial snowball's chance of speaking to anyone before then so hopefully I've done enough for just now!
The tree's up and the fridge has had it's annual condiments cull so it must be nearly Christmas. I've taken advantage of my delivery pass and split my Tesco orders over the festive period. I've only got one on any of the priority days but allows me sort out "normal" shop from the festive stuff IFYSWIM. Hector is at the groomers tomorrow, he goes to Pets At Home in a nearby town which conveniently is next to Lidl so DS2 will pick up some bits from there while he's. Then apart from housework and wrapping we're ready to enjoy a couple of weeks of kicking back a bit.
Lunch was some soup from the freezer, the last of my stash so I'll use some of SO Christmas veg to replenish supplies next wee ready for getting back to healthy eating in the New Year. Dinner tonight is JO's gingery, garlicky black mince with various veg and rice. One of my favourites from the "7 Ways" book and nice and easy.  :)
  • Yes, bright and breezy but colder here today. Shame I was in the office as otherwise there would have been washing on the line. Oh well, just tomorrow wfh and then that’s me done until 2 January.

I had the last of my freezer stash soup for lunch with a wholemeal roll. Made chicken and broccoli red Thai curry tonight which finished the jar of curry paste, served with the last nest from a packet of noodles.
