    Good morning everyone,
    Wet and windy here today.
DS2 is hoping to finish work tomorrow until the 2nd though might need to work for a few hours on Tuesday. We are going to thoroughly clean and tidy the kitchen & conservatory today ready to get the tree and decorations up during the week.
Tomorrow I'm meeting friends for lunch at a place on the outskirts of town which is getting good reviews. It has a farm veg shop and deli attached so will no doubt have a browse and spend a fortune.
I decided to treat myself to a wee Christmas gift - the most recent Hairy Bikers cookbook. It arrives today. I've another two cook books on my Secret Santa wish list so hoping to start the New Year with some new ideas.
Yesterday I made up the pigs in blankets (100 of them!) and the stuffing so they are now in the freezer. Along with naans DS2 bought at the Asian supermarket on Friday. There's still plenty of room though for any other bits that might take our fancy/be on offer and once the turkey is out to defrost I should have an empty shelf again ready for festive LOs.
Lunch will be a bacon butty and I've chicken legs defrosting tonight for peri peri chicken. We'll have the chicken with roast veg and green veg.
  • Was out to eat and then the theatre last night so watched the strictly final on catch up (whizzed through it in about an hour and a quarter!)

Parcel and cards got posted yesterday and I have got my last presents bought over the weekend. Just need to get through 5 days of work then I’m off for a week and a half 🎄🙌

Scrambled eggs and mushrooms on potato waffles for lunch. Pork casserole, mustard mash and cabbage tonight. Finally, the cabbage has gone! Forgot to put it in Friday night’s stew 🙄

Dull but mild, into town first thing, mainly to post my cards but also wanted some local honey from greengrocer
Both achieved, plus got a nice cauli while I was in the GG, so dinner decision made as well.

Lunch.more of the SC ham + pickle in a sarnie
Dinner, the new cauli in C cheese, with some sliced ham & maybe frozen peas

  • Lost track of the day yesterday and forgot to post, lunch was easy with some leftover pasta and meatballs.

The cauliflower "bug" must be catching, I picked up a beauty on Friday and had some last night in cheese sauce with brussel sprouts and a couple of grilled sausages.

Today I've just had some grilled cheese on toast for lunch and cherry toms on the side.

Whilst I was out this morning  I picked up a nice piece of round steak and have made a lovely smelling stew adding chunks of carrots and swede, which I'll have tonight with some mashed pots and steamed cauliflower.

  • Fairly mild but grey here today. Had a wfh day with no meetings so got absolutely loads done. Also nipped into town when I finished to do some Christmas elf duties 🎄

Spinach and ricotta tortellini with tuna, sweetcorn and sun dried tomatoes for lunch. Stilton and broccoli gnocchi tonight (didn’t quite use up all of the Stilton or creme fraiche 😬). I’m sure I can force the Stilton down and might have luxurious creamy porridge one day 😉

I also missed posting yesterday, brain fog from not sleeping very well at the moment 😴

A pottering start to the day than this afternoon I went to volunteering for a couple of guest speakers and Christmas drinks and nibbles afterwards, speakers were very interesting from local charities and it was good to talk with volunteers who work different days to me.  I only put 3 hours on the car so was home by 6pm

Easy lunch of toast and peanut butter.  I didn't want much dinner to I made some gravy and reheated some LO veg

Dull, grey & dreary looking day. Real mid-December day.

Lunch, still with eh ham, so ham & pickle sarnie again
Also rinse & repeat dinner, ham slices, reheated cauli cheese & frozen peas

Asda delivery tomorrow, my last Asda one before Christmas. I've got a Waitrose delivery booked on Saturday, but will need to amend it because it was one of the grab a slot early bookings, so I want to add & subtract some bits.

    Good morning everyone,
    Another one MIA yesterday.
I had a very enjoyable lunch, leisurely catch up with my friends yesterday. The venue is more coffee shop than restaurant and although busy most folk were in and out so they were happy for us to drink tea, eat nibble cake and natter on until late afternoon. Afterwards we had a nosy round the deli bit but I didn't see anything I particularly fancied. Lunch was a massive (far too big) baked potato topped with haggis & neeps and served with peppercorn sauce. It was really tasty. Afterwards the three of shared a piece of raspberry ripple cheesecake though I had only a tiny bit as it was too sweet for me and a piece of gorgeous iced ginger cake which was much more my thing. Needless to say I didn't need much for dinner and just had a small ladle of the dal DS2 had made with a piece of naan. Lunch today is tbc, I have a meeting for my voluntary job at 1pm so will grab something quick. My sis is coming for dinner tonight, I'm going to roast a small chook and we'll have it with crispy potatoes, coleslaw and salad.
  • Dark, wet and very gloomy this morning, had to have the lights on till well after nine.

Domestic chores caught up on, dash to the bins in the rain, reorganised the freezer and tried to create a bit of wriggle room to accommodate the fish I'll pick up from the fishmonger tomorrow.

Egg mayo and salad roll for lunch.

Chicken and mixed pepper pilaff tonight

Grey and drizzling again 🙄 but not very cold

Pick up a couple of things this morning avoiding the town came home via the garden centre and in the shoe shop they have on site managed to find some black ankle boots, I've been looking for a pair to wear with black trousers to volunteer, had to be flat and comfortable with a zip and not frumpy 😁 TBH doing the zip up on my dodgy leg will need some strange manoeuvring 🫣 my old faithfuls unfortunately need binning but as they were brought pre covid and worn a lot they owe me nothing they had been £25 from Sainsbury's unfortunately the new ones even in Pavers sale were a little more

All I did this afternoon was pick up a elderly friend and her cat from the vet after it had some teeth removed, it was t fun getting old lady, Walker and cat in it carrier in my car on a busy road rush hour  :# especially as I had to park with the passenger door on the road  :o

Cheese and beetroot roll for lunch with the lemon Bakewell.  Traybake chicken thighs for dinner marinaded with lemon juice, tomato purée, sumac, smoked paprika. Thyme and garlic 😋 baked on a bed of onions with green veg and rice
