Housework day for me and a couple of loads of washing done, I didn't put it out but think I should have
A freeze rummage for dinner produced one English muffin which I toasted for lunch with cream cheese and pastrami with some salad. My sister came to dinner tonight, my nephew is away so a easy dinner of ribs from Lidl (which just needed 30 mins in the oven 😋) chicken wings, sweet potato chips, HM coleslaw, and a corn on the cob between us. Very chilly last night but lovely this morning, bringing loads out for a walk in the sunshine, I suppose I really should go out and join them.
Thanks for the recipe Caronc but I'm not really a bread maker, never had much luck making it in the past but I am happy to throw together a batch of scones and give them freezer space.
Quinoa, lentil & veg salad with a hard boiled egg and a pumpkin scone for lunch.
I got a fresh pineapple in my delivery so it will feature in quite a few meals this week, tonight its Chinese style chicken and pineapple stir fry with boiled rice.Jan - June Grocery spends = £531.61

Dull start but looking like sun is trying hard, cold thoughGot the Asda order completed, and had a tenner's worth of Cashpot money deducted form the bill, every little helps. I quite like the cash pot idea, it suits me because it just accrues buying my normal stuff, without me having to go chasing round looking or trying to complete "tasks"Unlike my Marks or Waitrose, nothing from them at all in the way of vouchers or offers
. I used to get them regularly but seems to have dried up.
Lunch, fancying a sausage sarnie for a while, and today is the dayDinner, freezer rummage produced buried deep braising steak, went into freezer Dec 2022, so resurrection is well overdueI'll slow cook in the gas oven, with onions and usual bits.Hopefully I can find some in date suet for dumplings. I did find Dec 2023 suet, but I suspect that is "off" by now.Eight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0 -
Bright and sunny this morning. It makes me realise I need to dust and vacuum. I will do it tomorrow as I still have a cough.
I don't know what I fancy for breakfast.0 -
Cold and rainy here today with the odd glimpse of sunshine, set to get much colder this week 🥶
Only left the house to go for a swim. Back for tuna mayo and tomato rolls (posh Waitrose seeded wholemeal that I got YS yesterday) for lunch.
On use up for dinner before going away for a couple of nights so creamy leeks and beans from the freezer with salmon, end of the tenderstem and some frozen peas to up the veg count.0 -
Dull & damp againAt last got round to making ginger marmalade, cheated using the tinned MaMade pulped oranges. At least I've got nine jars cooling off, not made ginger marmalade before, so fingers crossed it worked.Lunch, defrosted HM cold roast pork LO in a sandwhichDinner, same LO cold roast pork, with new spuds & saladEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0

Good morning everyone,
I got side tracked and forgot to post yesterday.
Cold and icy here today. It was -4C at 8.00am and I don't think it will nudge much above freezing before it get dark.
Yesterday I made a pot of fridge gravel veg soup so a bowl of that will be just the thing for lunch.
With last week being pretty much a write off I've lots of admin and bits to catch up on so hope to get some of that cleared today.
Tring a new recipe tonight -potato, paneer and chickpea curry. Potato, paneer and chickpea curry recipe0 -
Shaded areas of the grass still has frost on it now and I think with the sunshine we've reached a high of 3c. I had to go for a blood test mid morning, because its all uphill I took the bus there then walked the couple of miles back down rather than stand around in the cold waiting for the return bus.
I had a repeat of yesterdays lunch today as I'd made double quantities.
I had some pineapple chunks & yoghurt for breakfast, its starting to go a bit brown so froze the best of it and will have the rest with some gammon, peas and AF chips for my tea tonight.
