Dull & grey again, quick collection of prescription then into Morries

Loads of empty shelves, but also loads of pallets blocking aisles, stocking shelves with Christmas bits I expect
Which is what I did with YS sausage rolls, they can go into freezer
Also, YS breaded haddock fillets, one for tonight, other freezer.

    Lunch, salad sarnie
Dinner. YS breaded haddock + HM AF chips & frozen peas.

So yesterday's best laid plans etc didn't quite come off, after lunch I kept dozing off whilst watching TV and lost the incentive to continue with prepping the b/nut squash. Ended up just having a bowl of soup and crusty bread for evening meal then going to bed early.

Apart from a really sore arm (covid side) I'm feeling so much better and roasted some of the squash this morning to go with a layer of sautéed mushrooms & leeks and cottage cheese for my lasagne tonight.

    Egg salad sandwich for lunch.

    Good afternoon everyone,
It's very gloomy and really quite chilly here today. Clearly getting set for the coming cold snap.
I've still very little energy so not really doing much apart from potter and rest.
Lunch was tinned oxtail soup with toast and marmite. I had a real notion for it and enjoyed every mouthful.
    Dinner is usual Friday tbc.
  • Bit cooler but also a bit brighter again today. Chanced some bedding on the line late morning, it was mostly dry and can finish off on the airer in front of a radiator.

Ricotta and pesto tortellini with tuna, sweetcorn and sun dried tomatoes for lunch. Freezer and fridge use up mezze/tapas tonight - chorizo and chickpea stew, pan fried halloumi, olives and dough balls with garlic butter 😋

Blue skies again today 😁 temperature is due to drop next week

N2BT have you tried pumpkin scones if you have any squash left? I will say if a US recipe add less sugar than they say or the BBC have some, I've been given some acorn squash so I've been tempted with the thought of pumpkin and cheese scones.

I needed to pick up an item in Argos this morning but it was a quick in and out of town, before a quick volunteer online meeting.  After lunch I went around to my sister for a cuppa and a catch up.  Her granddaughter was due to have her tonsils out today in the hope of fewer hospital visits but the anaesthesiologist wouldn't operate as she's getting over a cold and has been asthmic, with her medical history he didn't want to risk it.  They had told the hospital she was ill at her pre-op on Monday but the nurse insisted she would be ok 🙄 my sister was still a bit stressed over it and it could be at least six weeks wait

Food was the same as yesterday, salmon and watercress salad for lunch and LO cauliflower cheese for dinner

Dull & grey again, just the right sort of day to complete my online Asda order for next week delivery, daft thing is some items, like Heinz salad cream, are cheaper from Amazon Prime of all places. You do need to be alert these days.

Meals today are to use up leftovers.
Lunch LO HM leek & potato soup
    Dinner, LO HM cauliflower cheese

What a great idea Brambling, I put a lamb & squash tagine type concoction in the SC this morning for my evening meal and have almost 400g of squash left so after some searching I decided on this recipe Pumpkin scones recipe | delicious. magazine  because it was a savoury one rather than all the sweet variations I'd found.

Hope your sisters granddaughter doesn't have too long to wait for her op and she manages to avoid the various viruses doing the rounds.

Lunch is using up some picky bits, crusty bread, cottage cheese, celery, cucumber, olives & pickles.

  • I've woken up and can't taste anything. That has happened to me with a cold before, but not for decades. I feel much better after feeling terrible with coughing the other night. I had toast and Flora anyway. It says it is 14.5 downstairs so the heating has been switched on!

    Good afternoon everyone,
Glad you are feeling better Wednesday,
Brambling I hope the wee one doesn't have too long to wait for the op.
N2BT - savoury pumpkin bread is lovely and freezes really well. Lots of recipes online but this is closest to the one I have written down though I make mine in a loaf tin so it's a bit higher and takes a bit longer to cook. You searched for pumpkin bread - The Ordinary Cook
Bitterly cold here and to get much colder though we'll probably miss the snow.
Fridge bits for lunch and HM burgers for dinner.
  • Quite mild again here but mostly grey, the sun tried tried a bit late morning which prompted me to put a load on the line before I went out…it drizzled while I was gone 🙄

Walked to Lidl for the few bits I needed this morning and put the wash on. Watched Saturday Kitchen with a brew when I got back.

Beans with toast for lunch before heading out for haircut and colour. Rest of the tapas/mezze bits with wine and Strictly tonight 😉
