Grey & damp again, if it brightens a bit I may just creep into the garden & check for any more ripe apples.

I had a lovely family catch up over the weekend and we got home 5pm last night only getting caught in one heavy rain shower 🙂 weekend road closure on the A27 near Farway meant a different than usual way home but being a Sunday the country route wasn't too busy compared to radio reports of long delays on the official diversion route.
One handy thing about being sort of local, you know alternative routes to the alternative route :D
At least you had a good weekend to help off set the painful hip

    Finalised Asda delivery for tomorrow.
I know a new boss has just taken over, lots of work to do IMO, more & more items are no longer stocked, not unavailable, they just don't stock them any more.
I'm toying with trying Ocado, anyone used them?
Furthermore, I had a look but going from limited options at Asda to a squillion on Ocado fried my brain :/

Too grey & gloomy for a salad
Lunch, another fake Spam & pickle sarnie
Dinner, defrosting a Morries YS MFO Fish pie, which I'll have with frozen mixed veg

  • Not sure what I'm having for lunch, I have the afternoon off work as I have someone coming to fit a new front door. Maybe just some of the yummy coleslaw I made yesterday and tinned fish.

Dinner is veggie sausages, potato salad and was going to be coleslaw but if I have that for lunch I'll have sauteed kale.

    Good morning everyone,
Glad you enjoyed your family catch up Brambling.
    Definitely Autumn here today.
DS1 & DIL2B are back from their jaunt and will collect Frank and stay for dinner this evening. My sis is also coming and will then leave Ari overnight as she's away with work early tomorrow. Yesterday I prepped a massive cottage pie though I'll be surprised is there are any leftovers!
LO curry for lunch. The aubergine worked well, I baked hunks brushed with a little oil before adding to the curry so they didn't take forever to cook. I'd do that again as the aubergines were nice and soft but still held their shape.

A smile on my face this morning watching dolphins in the bay having a "play" with a local fisherman out collecting his creels and lobster pots :) . Only the second time I've seen them this year, there was a sighting report a couple of weeks ago but I missed them.

Had an appointment at the bank to review accounts and move money around, then SM delivery arrived earlier than usual so I can now relax for the rest of the day.

Leftover frittata for lunch with a tomato & basil salad. Tonight I'm having pork belly strips in bbq sauce, not sure whether I'll have noodles or rice will decide later.

Also handy to have two BILs one who lives in the New Forest and the other who until moving to Dorset spent 40 years doing the trip including pre motorway, Peterfield, Midhurst, Petworth 😁

A dry day before rain, rain and more rain 🙄 I went as far as Waitrose tonight to use a couple of vouchers and may have made rude comments when I looked through the JL door I know they sell decorations but blah humbug! 🤨

A fishy day foodwise, sardines on toast for lunch and salmon, new potatoes and vegetables for dinner

    Good morning everyone,
With you the bah humbug Brambling!
The heavy rain didn't appear yesterday and we ended up with an air frost overnight. It's a lovely, sunny day so far but decidedly chilly.
I've lots of voluntary admin to plough through this week, hopefully now Frank has gone home I'll get a better chance of concentrating on it.
The cottage pie was much enjoyed, my nephew ended up working so couldn't join us so there's enough leftover for DS2 and I to have a small portion each for lunch. Chicken, pea and rice traybake for dinner.

Me too :s But I've had Early Bird turkey e-mails already so I assume they all want to grab your dosh before you've squandered it on heating ;)

Asda delivery arrived a tad early, more than normal non-available items, but nothing I'm having to dash out and buy

Lunch, some newly delivered crumpets + cheese tops
Dinner, newly delivered, cheese & bacon quiche [a sub], LO nuked mash + salad

  • Ditto with the weather Caronc, not often east and west are the same but turned very cold overnight, then a lovely sunny morning but clouding over now so no doubt rain on the way.

Doubled up on the cooking yesterday when I had the oven on for my tea so roasted a couple of chicken thighs as well.

For lunch I used some of the chicken in a pasta salad with broad beans & tomatoes and I'll freeze the rest for a pie filling or another pasta dish at a later date.

I've had a gammon joint in the SC since mid morning so that will be ready for my tea tonight which I'll have with parsley sauce, mashed potatoes and sweetcorn.

Pottering day for me other than popping out for a couple of hours early evening

LO salmon for lunch with watercress salad.  Sirloin steak from the freezer for dinner it was a reduced one from the meat counter in Waitrose earlier in the year and was very nice 😋 I cooked it in the ninja and it came out very tender.  I cooked some sweet potato chip, mushrooms, onions and peas to go with it

Poured overnight, so very soggy with a weak sun trying to appear. The leaves are really coming off the trees now.
I still have some ripe toms outside so hoping to pick them ASAP because forecast is colder from now

Lunch, crumpets with some cheese topping
Dinner, it's all LO today. LO mash, LO quiche, plus salad bits.
