  • Big drop in temp again overnight and more condensation on the bedroom window this morning. I'm not quite ready to put the central heating on yet but have a small convector that is enough to use if needed.

I do enjoy drinking sparkling water and used to regularly buy 2ltrx4 packs but since I got rid of my car I've been buying it in single 2ltr bottles from the local co-op and getting fed up lugging them home, so this morning I decided to jump a bus to @rgos and get a "reduced price" machine that will carbonate the water for me, also less plastic in the recycling bin.

Had a salad and coleslaw in a croissant for lunch when I got back from my shopping trip and plan another pescatarian day today with a monkfish curry, rice and poppadum's tonight  :D

'Get busy with the fizzy....' not sure where in the brain that advert came from 😁

we had a nice day until about 4 again and then we had heavy rain for a while, when I went out at 7pm there was that strange light because half the sky was really blue the other half black clouds

lunch at my sisters today as I needed to print some paperwork and my printer isn't working.  My nephew and family came in which was lovely although little one told her grandma that I wanted to watch telly tubbies so would she out TV on 😁

lunch was just crumpets with cheese and ham and a doughnut 😋 LO beef in black bean sauce with noodles for dinner.  The last of the beef was chopped and mixed with mushrooms, roast peppers, shallots, cheese and chilli sauce and wrapped in filo parcels and froze.  Not sure what was wrong with the filo as it was very dry when it came out of the pack and they didn't wrap very well, just as well only I will be eating them as they ain't pretty!

  • Sure the filo parcels will taste great, Brambling!

Very autumnal here today, boots and a jumper on. Had a day out which included yummy lunch so just a smoked salmon sandwich and crisps this evening.
  • I remember "get busy with the fizzy", I was thinking about that "secret lemonade drinker" advert the other day, for some unknown reason!

I was chilly last night and I put on the portable halogen heater in the room where we were watching TV. It is a lovely bright and sunny day today.

I am going to make a double batch of scrambled tofu this morning and have half of it with some toast. I have taken some berries out to defrost for a smoothie too. That will use up the last of the milk before the groceries arrive tomorrow.

Chilly morning, back to porridge for breakfast, and my childhood because [Scots look away now] I blobbed in some raspberry jam :)

We had that odd sky as well Brambling, I went out half expecting another rainbow, but I never saw one

DS has one of those fizzy makers, two kids, so no doubt handy for them. I have been tempted to get one at times but with Asda delivery someone else does the shopping lugging for me.

Lunch, Snap Caron, tinned mackerel on toast.
Dinner, the other Haddock fillet, they are quite nice, but chilled not frozen, two in a pack hence my having the remainder tonight. I could freeze it but seems a bit pointless when it's there & I did like it.

Similar to my father but he preferred marmalade. The top of the milk was always in a separate bowl so that it didn't cool his porridge down, he would dip a spoonful of porridge in the milk then eat it. Whereas me I like stewed apples or tinned fruit, banana, honey or even prunes with mine - each to their own I say.

I've had my little heater on too Wednesday, temp is supposed to warm up again at the weekend so I'm still not putting the heating on.

Definitely a soup day today, sweet potato and lentil with a slice of toast.

Mince and potatoes tonight with buttery cabbage on the side.

  • I’ve put the heating on for a bit this evening, will count it as checking the system 😉

Spiced roasted sweet potato, lentil, feta and pomegranate salad for lunch. Prawn and broccoli sweet chilli noodles tonight.

If you listen carefully you will be able to hear the whimpering of my credit card  :# a visit to the optician means new glasses, I did get varifocal sunglasses free due to their 2 for 1 offer and it's my first new pair in four years but it still hurt! I need thin lenses which was an additional £100 on top of the varifocal costs   :s and unfortunately my eyes mean I can't buy cheap online ones :'(

When I left home to go into town before 2pm it was lovely blue sky, it absolutely tipped down as I drove into the car park, luckily it's close to the optician.  I popped into my sister on the way home for a cuppa and she said 7am this morning there was a thin layer of ice on her windscreen enough to need scraping. It also started raining again as I left hers so a funny day weather wise, no need for the heating yet although the winter dressing gown has come out.

Ham and cheese watercress salad for lunch with a vegetable and apple slaw with a yoghurt dressing.  I forgot to defrost some chicken so just had the vegetables and new potatoes for dinner I cba to think of something else!

  • I tested the heating last night and it does work. It doesn't feel that cold today at all. The weather looks gorgeous from the window, lovely and sunny. I just had my usual lemon water and I'm about to have some wholemeal sourdough toast with the leftover tofu scramble and a cup of Chai tea.
