Cooking for one (Mark Three)

It is very hot. I took a slow walk to the blood test centre and back. I felt very hungry when I got home so I had some toast and Marmite with a slice of plant based cheese. I'm having pizza tonight as well so a lot of bread and cheese today!
I'm using the hand held Spanish type fan, but I might go and bring down the electric one. There are meant to be storms tomorrow.0 -
Another hot day but I’ve managed to keep the house comfortable. Work day was manic to start with but I did then get all of the essential tasks done by the end of the day as the afternoon was a bit calmer, few quick things carried over to tomorrow.
In an unusual occurrence of bad planning, I realised I didn’t buy the filled pasta that was today’s lunch when I did the food shop. So, made croutons from the end of the sourdough from yesterday and had a tuna salad with them 😋
Cooked a piece of salmon on the bbq tonight and had with salad, new potatoes and coleslaw. Going to have a night off salad tomorrow 😅0 -
Need2bthrifty said:I don't envy you those temperatures down south, we are a comfortable 19-20c with a gentle sea breeze so I'm happy.
I didn't go out other than watering before dark, just did some tidying / sorting before finishing my book this afternoon
Easylunchof sardines on toast. I cooked a thin pork chop for dinner and had with salad and new potatoes

It was really hot last night. I had a shower about 8 to cool down. The pizza was lush last night. There are thunderstorm warnings but it looks very mild here at the moment.

Hot & sunny, but a welcome breeze, also thunderstorm warning but who knows? The weather radar shows some off the French coast, so I suppose they could track North.Asda delivery arrived, a tad early, but not a problem. I've noticed it is early quite often, maybe I'm first on the delivery? Just one sub, diet pop, so not concerns about that.Fridge is full, with plenty of long-dated stuff, so no urgency and use up PDQ.Lunch, too much choice, some nice tempting mini pork pies in the delivery, but I think I'll stick to my original idea of a fried egg sarnie.Dinner, grill one of Morries thick pork chops, with nuked LO HM mash & frozen mixed veg.Gardener’s pest is chef’s escargot0

Went to Mor for meds yesterday but they were not ready so had a wander to see reductions they had. They had sliced tongue and as I love a sandwich but usually too expensive, I bought 2 packs. Had tongue and chips last night, separated slices and put in freezer (again) so looked for ideas for other pack and found a curry with sliced chopped tongue so am looking forward to that. Will have plenty for salad and maybe roll up tortilla with pickles. So pleased.0

Good morning everyone,
I love sliced tongue with mash, baked beans and beetroot.Sunny again today with a nice temperature in the late teens, my kind of weather. It's the last fully dry day forecast for a bit so I'm on a mission to empty the laundry basket - where does it all come from?
Fridge bits for lunch. DS2 is off out tonight so CFO, will see what I fancy for dinner later,0 -
I don't do well in high temperatures either Brambling at least in winter I can layer up and remove one when I get too warm
Its somewhat cooler here today which means I can get on with some housework without sweating buckets.
Leftover salads and a cheese scone for lunch.
Pan fried turkey steak, spicy couscous, broad beans and ss peas for tonight.

Out of beetroot - pickled, and seldom buy fresh but do like it. Did not fancy mash but may have later. Been binge watching The Empress Ki, I know its a bit naff but the costumes are lovely and as there is only me and living on 2nd floor so no garden why not?

I don't often buy beetroot, but it is quite nice pickled.
It has felt very muggy since about 12. I had toast with Flora and Marmite for breakfast and a Quorn steak bake with tenderstem broccoli for lunch.
