  • Back to cold, grey and wet here, at least we are getting the better weather at the weekends I suppose 🤔

Office day with a couple of shortish, useful meetings. Did a few other bits but it was an odd sort of a day, couldn’t seem to get into anything properly.

New potato, beetroot and smoked mackerel salad with a creamy horseradish dressing for lunch. Made pea and bacon orzo tonight, served with grilled vine tomatoes.

Sun is coming out after a grey start, could be pleasant if in the sunshine.
Hope it continues, not just because it's warmer but all my apple blossom is out & I'd like the bees to get busy for crumbles this Autumn

Made a fresh loaf, and very thin pork chops out defrosting, so all set for lunchtime.
Lunch, grill one of the thin pork chops & have it, yes it's that thin :( , in a sandwich
Dinner, the thicker chop, with jacket spud & last of the salad bits

Asda delivery tomorrow morning, ideal now the fridge is just about empty, e-mail message they've run out of cucumber & bananas, but I bet there are some tomorrow, and it's just their stock control robot

I had a cup of Yorkshire tea and some Ryvita crackers with vegan cream cheese. It is quite nice, spring onion and black pepper flavour.

The house valuation was better than we expected yesterday. It depends what someone will pay for it, though. He said the location was very good and that my house was "immaculate". I think I might look at that Flylady thread on here to get some tips to keep it looking the way it does at the moment!

I just ordered my thyroid medication and booked the cats in for their annual vaccs etc...
are you thinking of moving again Wednesday?

Yes, to Kent, probably Broadstairs. I do like where we live but we don't need to be in Essex if my husband retires. He has a meeting this week about his job.

Are you moving or downsizing after you retire? It must be soon now!

    Good morning everyone,
Fingers crossed for the house sale Wednesday.
Cloudy but dry here this morning. I'm going to enjoy a quietish day until this evening when the family are coming for dinner (pasta bol bake, salad and garlic bread) and then we are keeping Frank until the 29th. DIL2B is in France at a conference which finishes tomorrow so DS1 is flying out and they are having a few days holiday. We've also got Ari on a couple of days so it will be all go! LO stew for lunch.

Thankfully I'm  a bit more laid back than I used to be otherwise this mornings annoyance would have pressed a few buttons. I had hoped to get the express bus into the city but it didn't turn up so after standing around in the cold wind for 45mins the much more reliable "stop at every village bus" came along.

I wanted to get myself a new duvet; over the past year in this flat I've found in the winter I'm too hot under the 13 tog and last summer at its warmest spell I found the 7 tog too hot and ended up sleeping under the duvet cover without the duvet. So I've opted for an "All Seasons" one hopefully that sorts me out.

Because of the delay with the buses I was absolutely ravenous when I got back well after my normal lunchtime and made a quick tuna & cucumber sandwich.

Tonight I'm doing a pork chop with a creamy mustard sauce, some veg & noodles.

  • Seems to have been a long day. Quite cold and grey at times again too, getting very boring.

LO pea and pancetta orzo for lunch. Beans with toast before swimming this evening.

Official last day at work is the 31st May but I'm taking the last week of May as holiday so will finish on the 24th May 🙂.  When I brought this house I brought a three bedroom so I could down size if I needed to, at them moment there is no plan to do so.  I do like where I live it's a small market town and I live on the edge so walking distance to the countryside, I also have family here but never say never! The coast may beckon one day 🙂

Evening out tonight with friends to to watch the NT Live of Nye, it was very good and topical of today in places.

Another BLT for lunch using the last of the bacon.  I forgot to take a HM RM out of the freezer so dinner was a quick noodle, vegetable dish with some cold pork

I am having some sparkling water and lime at the moment. I might have baked beans on toast for breakfast. I have a craving.

    Good morning everyone,
Sunny but chilly here today. Frank and Hector are rumbling about in the garden, I'm hoping they tire themselves out before Ari arrives this evening!
The family demolished what was a massive pasta bake so no LOs though I didn't need all the ragu for the bake so will freeze that for another meal for DS2 and I. Toastie and salad for lunch I think. JO's mince in black bean sauce with rice for dinner.

Sun is trying hard, but it's still cold.
Asda arrived on time, one sub, crustless quiche instead of crust one, when I added quiche to the list I was toying between crust or not, problem solved for me :)

Baking spud prepacked were on offer, so I had some of those, they are massive this time round, the size you can really have for a meal in themselves

Lunch, Caron's Toastie & salad has supplied my answer.
Dinner, one of the big baked spuds, with quiche / flan and salad bits. Easy but tasty
