    Good morning everyone,
Still very windy here but not quite as gusty as yesterday. There's a few roads closed due to falling trees and one of the main roads in town is closed due to falling masonry. We've lost at least one slate but thankfully otherwise unscathed apart from a huge amount of rubbish blown into the front garden.
BLT for lunch and roast pork for dinner tonight.

We missed most of the weather down here, i could hear it during the night and one of the empty wheelie bins went over 🙂

I hope the back isn't too bad Farway you need to stock up on some just in case ready meals, definitely needed when CFO

my hip ached all night which is why I was awake listening to the wind I did drop off in time for the furry alarm clock woke me up before 7am I may have told him to 'go away' so it's been a lazy day

Using up the seafood from yesterday, lunch was scrambled egg and smoke salmon on a toasted bagel.  Dinner was a repeat of yesterday, fishy platter with watercress salad

  • Another mild but windy day here, forecast rain never showed up.

Bit of domestic goddessing today - bed changed, bedroom dusted and hoovered, bathroom cleaned, ironing pile cleared. Also been for a swim and caught up on some programmes.

Scrambled eggs and mushrooms on toast for lunch. Roasted a chicken this evening and had with new potatoes and salad. Lots of chicken LO for the week and the freezer. Roasted some sweet potato whilst the oven was on for packed lunches.

Got to do a full week at work this week 😂

I have had some srawberries and sparkling water. I think I will have my usual toast and Marmite before I go out.

Morning folks, now that I'm back from my hols the weather is lovely today. Despite the cold, wet and wind it was really nice to get away and catch up with relatives - and such a pleasant change have someone else do the cooking   :)

A rummage in the freezer this morning produced some tuna and bean salad which I'll have on a toasted ciabatta.

Found a portion of turkey chilli for tonight and I'll have that with some brown rice and a side salad.

This may be a silly question but can I ask you seasoned online shoppers if you order frozen items in your shopping? I've had one online delivery with chilled items and they have been perfect on arrival, but I would hate to order frozen veg that could possibly arrive starting to defrost.

    Good morning everyone,
Glad you had a good break N2TB, yes no problems with frozen stuff, the vans have a freezer section.
The wind has finally died back, shame the sunshine has disappeared with it! Rain due later and we've a weather warning for heavy rain tomorrow. Definitely cooler today as well.
DS1 has a black eye after being accidently headbutted by Frank. It looked dreadful last night but isn't as bad this morning so should settle in a few days. He's discovered the hard way that Cocker Spaniel's have really hard heads!
LO pork with salad in a wrap for lunch. Tonight I'm trying out another recipe from my new(ish) cookbook - Mince (I'm using lamb) with spinach and rice stew.

Ouch. My dog has a very hard head too!

I always order frozen food as I mainly shop online and it is always fine.

I just decided to get in my steps before breakfast. I take it the kids are still off school as the park was very busy with parents and kids having picnics. It is nice and mild again.

I had a toastie when I got home as I wanted to buy mustard for it. I have made a pot of green tea and I'm going to finish my book.

Very mild, started sunny but cloudy now. Actually manage to pot on some plants it was so nice. My back is easing as well, so a good day so far.

Another one orders frozen food without any problems at all. Usually packed separately [Asda], so can go direct into freezer on arrival.

Lunch, fancied a change, frozen boiled in bag kipper fillets. Nice enough but a tad leathery IMO
Dinner, still choosing easy on back options, not sure, but it will be simple & quick

  • Someone else cooking is one of my favourite things about going away, N2BT. I love cooking but it is lovely to have a break occasionally when you do it all the time.

Mild again here but a bit overcast. No matter as was in the office. Easy commutes (kids still off) and a nice steady, productive day plus a really useful and nice catch up.

Last of the celery and Stilton soup from the freezer for lunch, with a couple of slices of wholemeal bread. I’m not planning on making any more soup until October, it makes me think of autumn and winter. Stripped the meat off the chicken this evening and some of it went into a pesto and green bean pasta 😋

I know what you mean about soup JKS I think I have some in the freezer to use up but unless I have a chicken carcass to make stock that may be it until autumn

Not too manic today at work, I'm trying not to stress at handing over work to a colleague as the fact she isn't great at picking things up is not my problem, I have been speaking to my boss about her for months so it will be his! He is aware that she is regularly getting things wrong and I'm telling her stuff over and over and over again 🤷‍♀️ old habits are hard for me to shift but this time I wouldn't have to come back and pick up a mess  😁

Beans on toast for lunch.  Roast beef and roast Jerusalem artichokes with cauliflower, carrots and runner beans for dinner.  I think my ninja was channelling my mum tonight I over cooked the cauliflower and the probe overcooked the beef, it was only a small joint brought in T Express when half price at Easter so would probably been better in the oven
