    Good morning everyone
N2BT - yep much prefer Cullen Skink without cream. I have to say it was gorgeous, I don't know why I don't make it more often. There's leftovers for lunch too  :)
Yesterday was wild weather wise but it's calmer this morning. We ended up keeping Ari overnight so my sis could see my nephew who unfortunately was the victim of an attempted mugging on his way home from work. DS2 is heading for dinner at DS1's tonight and my nephew is joining them which I think will be good for him so CFO tonight, I'll decide later what to have for dinner.

Blue sky & sunny morning, a tad chilly, but I expect it's warm in the sunny bits. Sign of spring I hope on the first day of February, and yet more seeds arrived in the post, I'm all set now.

Awful news about your nephew Caron, hopefully it will not affect him too much

The Essentials cheapo mince from Asda is fine, at least in burgers it is. Lots of fat comes out, of course, but that's what is expected in cheap mince. May not be crumbly textured enough for something like savoury mince, but I use posher low fat mince for that anyway.

Lunch, stale bread toasted, with cheesy beans topping
Dinner, naked burger, HM chips, eggs & mushrooms

  • That’s awful news about your nephew, there are far too many occasions of this sort of thing happening - Anarchy is the word that springs to mind.

Lunch was a bit of a use up with the l/o roast veg mixed with l/o tomato sauce and poured over some spinach & ricotta tortellini.

I bought a pack of roast beef slices, so will do a cheats version of a roast beef dinner tonight - slices rolled up pour over gravy and reheat in the micro, served with mashed potatoes, peas & pearl onions.

  • Sorry about yout nephew.

I went for a long walk along the seafront with a woman from this forum. We had lunch at Oliver's On The Beach which is owned by Jamie Oliver's uncle. I had vegan lasagne, chips and salad and orange juice. It is so nice now it is milder and sunny.

  • How awful about your nephew, caronc - hope he’s ok.

Bright but colder here today. Wfh and mostly had a steady, productive day.

Had filled pasta, tuna, sweetcorn and sun dried tomatoes for lunch. Dinner was chargrilled tuna steak, gingery sweet potato mash and stir fried broccoli with soy sauce and sesame oil.

I hope the evening wih your sons have helped your nephew get over things Caronc

I woke with a cold this morning, don't think it's anything more 🤧 but perfect timing for the weekend, at least it wasn't last week when I had appointments.  I had to take my elderly friend up to the minor injury unit as she has had two falls this week and hurt her back, I wore a mask and just dropped her off. They don't deal with backs so I picked her up in a hour but she wouldn't let me take her elsewhere 🙄 she says she will wait for her dr appt in Monday

I dashed into Lidl for lemons, tissues and a bread roll, no time to cook lunch as I was trying to work around hospital taxiing so cheese roll for lunch, with hindsight I had a emergency tin of soup in the cupboard I forgot about.

Dinner was a vension hauch steak from freezer, originally YS of course £2 down from £7.50  :) with new potatoes, cauliflower and French beans

  • What a beautiful day, sunny and warm for a change. Nipped up to the bank to pay a bill, picked up a naan bread from the SM on the way home. Now I’m heading out for a long walk in the sunshine before lunch which is more of the roast beef slices with a mixed salad.

This evening its chicken curry from the freezer, cauliflower rice and half a naan.

Hope the cold remains just that Brambling.

It is noticeably lighter in the mornings now, if still not quite spring out of bed and get going weather

Lunch, I bought some mini Melton M pork pies in my Asda delivery, so it's sort of a ploughmans' with salad bits etc
Dinner, RM MFO Asda Spag Bol

  • It feels lovely and Springlike again today. I was thinking I feel much better this winter compared to last as I normally feel terrible in the darker months. Living by the sea is meant to be better for you. The restorative impact of the sea air and I have lived here almost two years now.

I am about to have a shower and get dressed as I am getting my nails done. I was supposed to see my mobile hairdresser today, but she has been very busy taking care of her Mum as she had a stroke. My hair can last for a few weeks yet as I only had it cut before Christmas.

I am going to have a smoothie and then take a protein bar and a drink out with me. I might go to the beach again today. The plumber is coming round later as the drip in the tap wasn't fixed the other day! It is very annoying not being able to use the bathroom sink.

    Good morning,
Hope the cold doesn't develop into anything nasty Brambling.
Thanks for all the kind messages re my nephew. A horrible thing to happen but he seems to have taken it in his stride.
DS2 and I are being treated to lunch tomorrow by DS1 and DIL2B as a thank you for looking after Frank while they were in Greece. We are going to Gloriosa. I hope we like it as much Jay Rayner did.  https://www.theguardian.com/food/2023/n ... ant-review
Domestics today, I want to strip my bed and need to iron a couple of bits.
LOs for lunch and usual Friday tbc for dinner.
