  • I had a quick bread roll and marg for breakfast as the plumber is coming today now about our bathroom tap. I have no idea what happened to the nice weather. I feel quite chilly in the house.

I'm about to go downstairs and read my new finance book.

I am having veggie burritos later. I finally looked on YT for the correct way to wrap a burrito!

Stop talking about scotch pancakes N2BT 😁
Sorry Brambling but I do enjoy a good pancake, problem that I have now is that I’ve run out of butter and of course the rule of thumb is that pancakes should be spread with sufficient butter that you leave teeth marks when you bite into them  :D

Lunch was a bowl of turkey broth, I think that may be the last of the post Christmas batch, there are still others in the freezer to use before I decide on what kind I’m going to make next.

Also found some pigs in blankets in the freezer I’ll have them with sweet potato mash, stir fried cavolo nero with garlic & chilli.

I don't mean to boast but I have butter 😁 I did notice yesterday that more brands have decreased the size to 200g from 250g luckily which made the nectar offers not so attractive, have a couple of packs in the freezer brought when I had some nectar offers for it when it was 250g

Last of the pulled pork for lunch I have 4 generous meals from it which tastes better because it only cost be £2 reduced from the Waitrose meat counter 😋 I grabbed the wrong container from the freezer so dinner was minestrone soup, it was chunky so filling

    Good morning everyone.
Wet and very windy here today. Ari is hugely unimpressed (don't DS2 was that enamoured either) and had to be almost dragged out to do his business earlier. Both pooches are enjoying a snuggle on the couch so peace reigns.
A catch up on domestics and my own admin needed today. I'm making Cullen Skink later for dinner so I'll be well souped as it's HM chicken broth for lunch. .

Dull & grey but at least still dry

Asda order arrived as scheduled, the two subs were all in my favour again, with my carrots still at old, lower, price
Back bacon rashers for bacon bits & pack of ten Soreen mini loaves for one on offer Soreen loaf, this sub is actually far better suited to CFO style.
Missing some out of stock frozen pies, but that's not a problem TBH, I nearly removed them from my list anyway but decided to try them

Another of my trials this time is Essentials Mince, it is the cheapo bottom of range stuff, so I'm not expecting gourmet Aberdeen Angus, but for HM burgers it's worth a try.
It doesn't look very appetising squashed into its Less Packaging Eco package, but I think that less eye appeal is all part of the Cheapo format, along with the bright yellow labels, to shame some not to buy it.

Lunch, I was thinking of a burger, but I forgot to add rolls to my list :'( . I may just make one with cheapo mince and have it naked with an egg
Dinner, more naked burgers, with HM AF chips, eggs & baked beans

  • It is chilly out there again, I was planning on wearing sandals this weekend when I go out, but I think it will be tights and boots now!

I had cereal with sliced banana and soya milk this morning and I just had a sandwich when I got home. I might make some tea. the heating is on, but I still feel cold.

  • Oooh I love Cullen Skink, first time I tried it was about 40 years ago made by a Buckie lady. I think she only used milk whereas restaurants tend to be very heavy handed with the cream making it way too rich for my taste.

Its very blustery here today, but regardless I was up and out early to get my car to the garage. Decided to get it fixed after all, its worth more to me on the road, but I’m still of the mind to get rid of it in the not too distant future.

To be honest Brambling I hadn’t really noticed the change in size of butter blocks, I was just happy to get my favourite with a 45p nectar price reduction.

Scotch egg salad for lunch, and I decided to use up the block of puff pastry that’s been lurking in the freezer. I made some mini sausage rolls, they're always handy to have in the freezer, also made a cross between a flan and a pizza using hm tomato sauce, roasted veg, mozzarella and parmesan cheese.

  • Much milder here this evening and has started raining a bit. Been cold all day though as the meeting location never warmed up 🥶

Wolfed down my pea and leek soup at lunchtime!

Have been swimming tonight so just had broccoli and pesto pasta with garlic mushrooms on top 😋

Usual Wednesday with an additional meeting, which annoyingly the one person needed didn't turn up on the call even after accepting the invite she also failed to respond to us chasing her not great with five other people twiddling our thumbs waiting for her.  We are on a tight deadline for the work I managed to reschedule for a couple of hours later but she never apologised or mentioned the original meeting 🙄 and she was difficult which considering we were trying to accommodate her requirements  into the system 😡

I ate from the freezer today, roast tomato soup for lunch and spinach and ricotta cannelloni for dinner
