  • Another lazy day for me - binge watched the traitors - I didn’t watch last series but what a bunch of sheep these people are, picking off and eliminating the independent thinkers, but I suppose that’s the game.

More soup for lunch, I’m beginning to get a bit of wriggle room in the freezer and have picked out a few “new to me” recipes to try over the next couple of weeks.

Tonight is chicken & mixed veg stir fry in oyster sauce with noodles.

Home day and I have had the heating on low, it’s freezing out there!

As usual,on a wfh day, slightly derailed by minor crises and urgent requests but got the essential tasks done 🙃

Had some filled pasta and precooked mushrooms from the freezer for lunch with some sweetcorn, all drizzled in olive oil and sprinkled with black pepper. Made a chorizo and cannellini bean stew tonight, served with toasted pitta bread.

The weather is getting about 😁 it felt warmer here today and I don't think a frost unless it melted really early.  Forecasts of -5 early next week 🥶

This weekend to have gone really fast, not that I'm complaining 🙂 and I put my foot down about working tomorrow as I did the majority of Saturday work last year.

LO Nasi Goreng for lunch, there is more than I thought so there is still some in the fridge 🙄 I used the ninja to roast a small beef joint, I half a larger joint brought before Christmas when they were half price.  I used the probe for the first time so it was a case of stick it in the thickest part of the joint and tell it it is beef and how you want it cooked ie rare, med rare etc.  and surprisingly it turn out really nice 🤣 I popped the potatoes and parsnips in with it but the only problem was they lost their crunch h when I waited for the beef to rest, I'll have to rethink.

  • It felt really chilly yesterday too. I wore my mittens out again. I didn't bother going into Southend to see a film so we just ate out at a local restaurant. My healthy eating is going well this year. *Rolls eyes*

I did go into Coop before the restaurant and I finally saw some YS items! I got two baguettes and some sourdough bread and an apple pie. It must be after 7 pm that they mark stuff down.

I'm just having a cup of tea. I really need to have some NSD's next week. It is meant to be really cold so I think I will just stay in as much as possible and not spend a lot of money. I am getting my eyebrows dyed and we are getting the windows/gutters done, but I got out cash already for that.

I'm probably going to have some of the baguette toasted for breakfast with either PB, Marmite or marmalade.

Dull & grey, but I was told of crocus coming up so hopefully not long before it's much better outside, just got the maybe snow due next week to get out of the way

Finalised my Asda order, salmon out, pork loin offer in. Need eyes everywhere to keep up with “good buys”
I may try the pork in the new pressure cooker, pulled pork sort of idea, but that's a maybe not a will do

Likewise, with my veg in PC, it'll take time to learn new methods.
I think I need to buy a steamer type basket to fit in, I used to have one with my old stove top one, but gawd knows where that is now. And with the PC being non-stick it will need to be plastic or similar, not metal like my old one.

I made the smoked salmon pate, so that's for lunch with stale bread toasted fingers & salady bits
Dinner, use up bacon in use up rolls, with use up Little Gem in BLT. Not a "proper" sit down meal, but it will do fine.

    Good morning everyone,
Dry and not as cold here today.
Roof is all ship shape again, though it's the original roof on a hold house so it needs regular tlc. Thankfully all the important bits are holding up well so no need to think about a new one for long time.
Tesco made a boo boo and I have ten red peppers, the 4 I ordered and two packs of three that I didn't and wasn't charged for. I didn't notice as the driver helped me unpack until I was putting stuff away. My sis will probably take some and we do use quite a lot and they should keep okay. I might make peperonata later in the week.
DS1 and DIL2B are still COVID ridden but the rest of us seem to have escaped. It will just be the four of us for dinner tomorrow now but I'm going ahead as my nephew is coming down specially for it. I'll do as much prep as I can today as I've nothing much planned and can't be bothered doing anything housework wise bar the routine chores.
Fridge raid for lunch. Scampi, HM oven chips and mushy peas for dinner.
  • Bit of a lazy day here. Watched Saturday morning cooking programmes but did then drag myself out for a walk in the sunshine - went to the farm shop for eggs and a nice ciabatta roll. Back for lunch of posh fishfingers and gherkins in pitta.

Did a grocery shop and ran some errands this afternoon. Other than that pottered around and watched two episodes of Truelove.

Made prawn saganaki tonight, served with the ciabatta roll and broccoli.

Breakfast out today my sister had a voucher from the local garden centre for half price breakfasts, it's their way of getting people in during January 😋 £4.99 set me until dinner toast, 2 sausages, 2 bacon, 2 eggs, mushrooms, beans, tomatoes hash browns and a pot of tea. I'm not sure if they get their sausages and bacon from the butcher at their shop but they are very nice

No lunch required 🙂 and just the small portion of LO Nasi Goreng required for dinner with some added broccoli

  • I had toast, Flora and Marmite with a cup of tea. I'm going to catch up with YouTube as a few people I follow always bring their videos out on Sunday mornings.

I need to go out for a walk later as I was so idle yesterday. It looks at least a bit sunny and bright out there. My Fitbit said I had almost 9 hours sleep, but I'm not even up to 55,000 steps this week yet.

Weather seems unsure right now, blue sky & now clouding over. Not that I'm going anywhere, I did browse around the garden yesterday but soon froze up and was glad to be back indoors.

Made a rapid loaf in the BM first thing, in time for lunch. The YS Co-op rolls I had are getting very stale now.
Now I have fresh bread, the lunchtime BLT will be far more enjoyable
Dinner, defrosted last of the Waitrose sausages, so it's bangers, fried eggs & AF frozen chips for dinner, fine dining! :D
