  • It felt much chillier last night. I think I have been complacent with the mild weather here.

I have had a cup of tea so far. I am either going to have smooth PB on toast or baked beans on toast this morning.

I am just redoing my 2024 monthly budget at the moment. I am determined to build up savings this year after spending so much on home repairs last year, especially if I want to move house.

Sunny but chilly, nice to see brighter weather at last. If it lasts I have a few bits to do in the garden, nothing hard, just pottering.

Lunch, just made a rapid loaf in the BM, ran out of bread because the old loaf went mouldy, so I think basic & easy sandwich of some sort
Today is the maiden meal of the new pressure cooker, braised steak & onions, with nuked LO mash

It’s a sunny but chilly day here too, so comfort food definitely required to heat me up.

Bacon & tomato sandwich for lunch then a scaled down Christmas dinner, just the turkey in gravy, stuffing, potatoes and sprouts tonight.

I’m beginning to lose track of what's buried in the freezer so cosy gloves on for a bit of a tidy and draw up an inventory.

  • Grocery shopping done, Christmas decorations all packed away, dry washing folded up, ironing done. Quite a busy day 😂

Cheese and crackers with apple and celery for lunch. Made porcini and pea risotto tonight.

    Chilly today but dry  :)

Hair cut day today ✂️ and a gossip with my hairdresser.  I had to pick up some thing from M&S but that was nothing else needed so I avoided the shops, as it was a 4pm appointment the farmers market was closing so I could avoid temptation

lunch was a sandwich using LO tuna mayo.  Dinner tonight at my sisters' as we were going to the cinema with a mutual friend to watch One Life and it started at 7pm so saved me rushing home and eating

    Good morning,

I struggled with the cold yesterday and as the day went on I finally had to give in and up the heating to 20c, I moved into this flat around spring-time last year so its been a bit of trial & error getting a comfortable temp over the winter months. It seems as long as the outside temp is over 5c I can get away with the heating at 18c.

Was feeling peckish this morning so had some french toast sprinkled with parmesan. Lunch is soup from the freezer stash and for tea tonight I have some l/o mash to use up, also found a portion of sausage casserole in the freezer.

Farway, hope your pressure cooker stew turned out well.

  • I had water and then a cup of coffee and then PB on toast again. It feels much colder this morning. I just popped the heating on.

It is, frost on the cars here first thing. Blue sky & sunshine now but chilly.

Farway, hope your pressure cooker stew turned out well.
Thanks, went well, but it will take some time for me to get used to timing things to arrive at the same time. I was trying to get the green veg & nuked LO mash to arrive at the same time as the pressure cooker dropped pressure!
Got there in the end, but more practice is required, of course once I'm at “expert” stage the veg can go into the PC as well as meat, but I'm not chancing that for now. Walk before running.

Lunch, feel the need for something warming, maybe a tin of soup?
Dinner, I have LO turkey & ham gloopy stew thing so I'll probably heat that through

    Good morning everyone,
    Very cold and icy underfoot.
Absent yesterday, the day just disappeared! I had a lovely leisurely lunch with the kids and my sis, catching up on DS1 and DIL2B's news from Greece. Frank was very pleased to see them. It was lovely having Frank while they were away but equally lovely just to be back to one pooch albeit temporarily as Ari arrives tonight until Wednesday. Hector is shattered he didn't wake up until after 10.30am and already has had a nap. For lunch I roasted a chook and made some salads. DS1 and DIL2B brought very tasty savoury pastries from an Athens bakery and we had a cheeseboard. There's bits and bobs LO which we'll up for lunches and I'll pop the carcass in the SC overnight tonight.
DS1 is cooking tonight - Lamb Rogan Josh from his new Dan Toombs book.
