Good morning All, I had a busy away day yesterday catching up with a friend and a nice lunch out for a change.
Finally got to the bank this morning, so all caught up with the bills/statements/etc. Did a quick scurry around the supermarket, didn’t need much mostly fresh veg & milk.
Today’s lunch is using up the last of the salad stuff & chickpeas. For tonight I’ll do a leek bechamel sauce, throw in some of the leftover turkey & some sweetcorn to make a pie filling and top with mashed sweet potato.

We are due heavy rain here later, it's just coming across the Channel now, looks like a very wet evening aheadGood news is, my Non Ninja pressure cooker has just arrived
, not unpacked it yet. Not bad delivery times, ordered on line Sat at 1000, here today about 1100, five days total.
I'll unpack & check it all later todayIn some ways it arrived just too late, I have a slow cooker last of the turkey + cooking bacon + whatever else was lurking, including some leggy spuds and iffy mushrooms, meal on the go for tonight, in anticipation of a dull & wet evening.Lunch, maybe mushroom omeletteOnly task for today, apart from the new pressure cooker, is some form filling to post tomorrow while I'm out having my feet done and taking the punctured wheel in for repairEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0 -
Good afternoon everyone,
Tubs got culled yesterday so the shelves are looking much tidier. I try reuse butter tubs etc. but had amassed far too many so the surplus is in the recycling bin.
Pooch sitting the three boys today, it's mayhem. Can't see me getting much done as Frank, in particular, loves to "help"! Only must do this afternoon is to tweak my Tesco order after we meal planned yesterday evening.
LO rice & veg for lunch and I've a tub of ragu defrosting for spag bol tonight.0 -
Nearly forgot to post. Have been binge watching the Mr Bates v Post Office drama, made me cry and made me angry 😠 but very good, well worth a watch.
Anyway, office day today so last portion of soup (spicy carrot and lentil) from the freezer for lunch. Soup making is on the agenda for the weekend. Tuna steak with sweet chilli vegetable noodles tonight. Oh, there might have been cheese and biscuits with a cuppa this evening 😉0 -
Some of my butter tubs etc get swap around between me and my sister with LOs after shared meals or cakes, etc from my nephew 😋 I seem to have acquired a lot of hers 😁🍰🍪
have fun with the new toy Farway 🙂
there is certainly a lot of water out there at the moment, I drove to Waitrose after work (they have a underground carpark 😁) and the usual roads were causing issues in town. I went to Waitrose with a small list of fresh items, as i needed milk and didn't want to go again this week. I have a small chicken in the freezer so stocked up on my veg for a chicken base menu plan, unfortunately no peppers in Waitrose so unless I can find some in the freezer I may be driven into T Express the next time I drive pass or I'll rejig a recipe.I'm about to lose a repair on my front tooth, probably overnight 🫣 it was a repair following a low blood pressure incident where I kissed a radiator about 12 years ago and the 'filling' comes off every few years. It has a wobble so I'm expecting to wake up without it tomorrow. Dentist booked for Tuesday and I'm vain enough to hate itthere were some advantages of masks 😷 now the dentist has gone private next week will be expensive as osteopath booked for Wednesday, just as well I won £200 on my premium bonds. This month I've appointments for teeth, ears and hips anyone got a gun
just as well I have one for a pension advisor tomorrow!
lunch was a large portion of vegetable soup 😋 vegetable lasagna from the freezer for dinner, nice and quick after shoppingLife shrinks or expands in proportion to one's courage - Anais Nin0 -
Good morning everyone,
Yes tubs rotate round the family here too Brambling!
Cold, dry and trying to be sunny here this morning.
Hector and Frank must have had good sleeps they are monsters this morning! Frank goes home tomorrow, he's lovely dog but at the really hard work teenage stage and of course out of routine. Hector is constantly trying to sneak off for a nap lol! Sunday evening sees Ari arrive for a couple of days, he's older and more settled so it's not as chaotic.
Really need to have a good tidy up before the family descend for lunch tomorrow.
Tesco due this afternoon just one unavailable item without a sub.
LO pasta for lunch and usual Friday tbc for dinner.0 -

I had to get up early to check when the delivery was and the new mattress is arriving today between 10 and 2. It is raining quite heavily and I have done some laundry and put the heating on. I shut the cats in the living room out of the way.
I am deciding what to have for breakfast... maybe baked beans on toast with fried mushrooms.

Sunny but colder after yesterday's delugePressure cooker unpacked, looks bigger than I imagined
, but I have parking space available on my worktop. A test run will be tomorrow with a bit of Essentials cheapo braising steak, which I'd normally do low & slow in oven. I've found my old stove top cooker recipe book, which hopefully will give me some guide times.
Nice PB win timing Brambling, very handyMy form filling failed, where DD had printed them off some bits were missing, luckily I was in the volunteer place this morning and printed them off there.
Then it was onto get the puncture fixed, but failed that as well, seems my Leaky Rim is a duff wheel rim. Gloom, but not too bad because I came home via the scrapyard, wheel & tyre for £30
, All sorted now and ready for next problem
Lunch was use up mushrooms omeletteDinner, AF sausages with mashed use up sprouting spuds, and maybe open tin of beansEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0 -
Hey it's Friday 🙂 I like short weeks
Nice quiet day today we got a large task completed quicker than expected yesterday and are now waiting for someone else to do their bit.Late lunch after phone call off vegetable soup. I forgot I was going to have chicken so it was still frozen 🙄 therefore dinner was a jacket potato with tuna mayo and saladLife shrinks or expands in proportion to one's courage - Anais Nin0 -
Must have fallen asleep without posting last night! Yes, short weeks are great Brambling but gosh, this one was hard work 😅
Scrambled eggs and mashed avocado on toast for lunch and dinner was sausage and spinach gnocchi one pot wonder.
Meal planning just finished so must get dressed and go buy groceries. Back later.0
