Farway, conditions have improved 100% up here, so her travel arrangements should be fine. However her recent chainsaw training will be very useful with all the trees that have come down in the area

Lunch was catching up with friends in Chichester and my friend's husband treated us 🙂 he even dropped her off and disappeared so we could have a proper catch-up and came back for coffee. I did get wet walking down to the station when the skies opened 10 mins from there and I realised my umbrella was still on the stairs 🙄

Good morning everyone,
Dark, cold, wet and miserable here today. We've a weather warning for snow but don't think we'll get any.
Domestic bits today, still trying to make a dent in the laundry mountain!
Easy stir fry tonight using a kit from Tesco which we'll have with chicken wings. We're keeping the next couple of days simple before the next feast on the 1st! Fridge bits for lunch.

Dull & grey again, but only lolling around picking at LO Maltesers so far

I've ordered a cheapo Asda not a Ninja pressure pot thing, on offer £39, I'm getting it delivered because I found the Click & Collect a faff and for the small extra cost I'll leave it to them. Due week after next, but who knows?MY old but good Prestige stove top will be just too heavy for me, if I could ever get it out of the back of the lower cupboardI'm going to get the 2022 Christmas turkey out to defrost and cook it tomorrow for New Year, given the size of the thing it will last until Easter. Actually, once cooked, I expect legs and other large parts will go back in the freezer.Lunch, LO mushrooms in omeletteDinner, the MFO RM veg lasagne I never had yesterday, give me fridge space for the turkeyWhen an eel bites your bum, that's a Moray2 -
I'm heading into London by train. I didn't have time to have breakfast. It is very mild again here.0

I think 75% of Scotland is on a yellow warning for snow & rain Caronc. I also checked Sepa and quite a few regions also have flood alert warnings so they must be expecting a bit of a deluge, its due to start here about 3pm

I had some stilton cheese that needed using so instead of adding to the soup stash I made some scones instead. Had a couple already with some potato & leek soup for lunch - I best hurry and freeze the rest or I could end up nibbling on a couple more
A lazy tea tonight shop bought arrabiatta sauce with pasta & prawns.
My mother used a good old stove top one as well - scared the s*** out of me rattling and hissing away, but I have wondered whether it might be an investment to buy one of the new style ones, I'll be interested to hear how you get on with it.Farway said:I've ordered a cheapo Asda not a Ninja pressure pot thing, on offer £39, I'm getting it delivered because I found the Click & Collect a faff and for the small extra cost I'll leave it to them. N2BT our warning ends at 3pm, must be when it's headed to you. It certainly seems to be easing a bit rain wise, but my the wind is cold.0

My HE teacher scared me too much when warning us if the dangers of stove top pressure cookers so I never used one until I got my king pro instant pot which I have just given away when I brought my ninja. I used it a lot and preferred it to the slow cooker, pork belly, ox cheeks, shin etc all cooked in appropriately 35 mins once they reached steam, small 750g gammon joints cooked in 18 mins and 12 min rice pudding 🙂 etc for me the ninja helped with limited space in my kitchen as it replace three gadgets which were all getting on a bit. TBH I'm still getting my head around the ninja as it works different on pressure than my instant potNeed2bthrifty said:My mother used a good old stove top one as well - scared the s*** out of me rattling and hissing away, but I have wondered whether it might be an investment to buy one of the new style ones, I'll be interested to hear how you get on with it.
I woke with a headache so had a slow day other than a couple of loads of washing and cleaning the bathroom. I caught up on Vera after lunch.
lunch was a gammon and coleslaw sandwich, and using the last of the gammon my sister gave me I made macaroni cheese with gammon and broccoli for dinnerLife shrinks or expands in proportion to one's courage - Anais Nin2 -
Very mixed weather this morning, rain, wind & now sunshine. I'm struggling to get the oomph to get out of bed these dark & dank mornings, it was nearly eight by the time I surfaced. Used to be 0630 in summer.I took the ex 2022 Christmas turkey out to defrost, just in time, I notice its Use BY date is today, end Dec 2023I'll pop it in the oven after lunch and should be tucking into it for dinnerI've also used up the ex 2022 Christmas pud, BBE Jan 2024, had some last night & the rest has gone into yet another trifle I made this morning. I still have to add custard topping to it, once the jelly has set.Lunch, last of the stale bread toasted, maybe with a mushrooms & scrambled eggs topping?Dinner, roast turkey, could just be that or with some side salad and nuked jacket spudWhen an eel bites your bum, that's a Moray0

Good morning everyone,
The weather is much calmer this morning.
Lots of prep to do today for tomorrow's meal. We're having slow roasted pork shoulder with lots (far too many?) sides! My sis and nephew are bringing nibbly bits to have instead of starters.
Nothing special planned for tonight, if I'm still up for the bells it will because we're watching a film!
Naan bread pizza and HM coleslaw planned for dinner, I made a batch of tomato sauce yesterday so will need to try and find freezer space for the surplus.
Happy New Year when it comes, may 2024 be a good one.

Thanks Brambling that’s really useful, I have a small kitchen not too much counter space so my SC is kept in a cupboard but it is getting quite old too. I did buy a small cheap AF to try out; it’s okay and wouldn’t be too much of a loss if I decided to get rid and go for a multi function device, some research needed I think.
Much better day for us today, but yet again the weather caused chaos on the roads. There has had to be is a bit of a clear up as loads of soil washed off the fields creating an even worse hazard. I’m just so glad I don’t need to go anywhere.
The town is starting to get very busy; lots of visitors and motor-homes arriving for the traditional celebrations and fireworks tonight. I may or may not be up to see the year in but the supermarket close-by is leaving its car-park open for revellers just hope they don’t make too much noise when leaving - there always seems to be one car alarm that keeps going off
Not much cooking going on today, just had a square sausage sandwich for lunch and a rummage in the freezer produced some spinach & ricotta tortellini which I’ll have with leftover arrabiatta sauce, peas, sweetcorn and crusty bread for tea.2026 Grocery Spends
