  • I follow two Northern guys on YouTube and they call it a "picky bits tea" I hadn't even heard that expression being a Londoner. I'm not sure what I would call that type of meal. :)

I just had two Rosie the Reindeer Aldi crumpets with Flora and jam.

I'm not sure we called it that either Wednesday, when we were growing up we had a dinner not lunch and then we had tea which was usually cold or the occasional toast or crumpets toasted over the fire

Quiet day in cooking gammon and shortbread for tomorrow and prepping the cheese straws ready to cook in the morning. I also had to finish wrapping presents. It was my eldest sister's birthday yesterday so I caught up on a hour long call this afternoon

Sardines on toast for lunch with a mince pie.  I found a pasty in the freezer so dinner was that with some chips and beans

  • Merry Betwixmas, I hope everyone had a lovely time.

Wild weather here again, it was a bit of a struggle battling the wind and rain to put the rubbish out and pop to the SM for some coconut milk. Rest of the day will be cozied up in front of the telly.

I’m loving the endless supply of turkey - half the crown has been frozen, a batch of turkey broth also in the freezer and today its turkey curry ;)

    Good morning everyone,
Merry Betwixmas, hope everyone enjoyed the holidays.
Christmas Day was fab, but chaotic.
Yesterday started slowly, descended into chaos and then we had a chilled evening with my sis and nephew. DS1 & DIL2B have safely arrived in Athens. Yesterday evening, after a meal of leftovers, we watched the latest Chicken Run movie which was excellent, definitely worth a watch.
After a sunny day yesterday it's foul today. DS2 will walk pooches and I want to make soup for tomorrow's lunch with a friend and clear my feet a bit but apart from we are planning an easy day. Easy Chinese takeaway style curry for dinner tonight which will pretty much use up the turkey. The other leftovers got used up yesterday. I've a small bag of turkey bits to freeze, 1/2 the carcass and a tub of stock have already been frozen. I've promised my sis turkey soup  when our Tuesday night dinners resume.
  • I had my GP phone appointment this morning and she is going to put me on the HRT patch. She said my thyroid was okay, but my cholesterol was high which she said could be to do with perimenopause. I hope this makes me feel better and less tired all the time.

I went back to bed and have had another lie-in and then had a yoghurt and some green tea when I got up. I'm thinking of what to have for lunch. I still have lots of potatoes leftover. I might just have a can of soup and a roll for lunch and make a proper dinner later. I have a bean soup that I bought from Aldi or Lidl.

I hope everyone had a good Christmas 🙂 it was all adults on Monday and lots of board games played, the little one was there yesterday so not so quiet 😁 she has a little dance she does when given a present 🎁 she did open one at a time and played if it was a toy so not too crazy even if she decided putting custard in her hair was a good idea, grandma has a bath!

Toast and pate for lunch today. My nephew had some friends around tonight so my sister came around for dinner, we had vegetable rice with salmon and tenderstem broccoli.

im working tomorrow but will depend on what is happening on how much work I have to do

  • I woke up feeling remarkably fine this morning, maybe I just needed a few nights of good sleep. I woke up at 8 and got up and was craving a cup of tea and I had to go out and buy soya milk. My sugar is seriously depleted from having workman here so much! I will go out and buy some sugar later. I ordered a Tesco delivery for today, but I booked it well before Christmas as I assumed it would be all booked up. I was adding some items to it yesterday and realised at the last minute that I had booked a click and collect. I luckily was able to change it to a home delivery for tonight instead. I went out to Coop last night as I was craving fruit (after eating so much junk) and the shelves were almost empty. I had to buy one of those overpriced pineapple pots that only have a tiny amount in them.

It has been so mild this winter, not that I am complaining. It feels quite Springlike outside although the BBC weather says rainy and gusty winds so that might change.

I got some tortilla wraps out of the freezer so I will have something with them later. I still have so many spuds leftover, but I did order some leeks in the shopping so I might make a big batch of soup.

Very windy overnight and even woke me up, but nowhere as bad as it is in some places.
It was a fairly quiet Christmas, over DS on the day and rest of time just eating chocs / cosied up watching TV, much too cold & grotty to go out anywhere

Gradually working my way through the fridge, froze some items that I'm sure I will not eat before Use By arrives

I have some passed it bananas and may make a banana loaf even though I have plenty of food around. I may make it & then freeze some, which I've never done before, but I read it can be done, so I may give it a try.

Food today will be picking at things, could be just toast for lunch and I have some posh fish fingers so those maybe dinner

    Good morning everyone,
The weather has been wild here. It's easing a bit now but still very windy.
A friend is coming for lunch. I've made a pot of veg soup to have with bagels filled with smoked salmon and cream cheese.
More salmon planned for dinner - JO's salmon in a bag with veg and sweet potato wedges.
  • Good afternoon, what a difference a day makes it’s a beautiful sunny mild day today, but that was real scary weather yesterday - wind speed recorded at 86mph just a few miles from here, no wonder I could hardly keep on my feet.

Many roads still affected by flooding and trees down, Farway hopefully your DGD is still down your area as I believe the power in the area she works has been out from 11.00am yesterday and still out today when I checked social media - energy network supplied food vans feeding those in need, so it could take some time.

Thoroughly enjoyed my turkey curry last night, I think its one of the best sauces I’ve made in a long time. There was a portion leftover so that’s been squeezed into the freezer.

A break from the “turkey-fest” today, pate and toast for lunch and tonight I’ll have some gammon, carrots, leeks, Brussel sprouts and cauliflower with a mustard sauce.
