DGD is flying south to her Mum's [my daughter] for Christmas, not sure what day, but being a teenager things like rail strikes, extra traffic etc have no doubt been completely ignored or not even thought about. Normally she flies into Gatwick, but maybe they'll pick Southampton or Bournemouth. Mind you, the Gatwick ticket is very cheap, around £40 single, not sure if she has some sort of concession travel for this
That’s probably the best way to travel at this time of year, the airport isn't closed too often because of weather. In my youth I occasionally took the overnight coach south to then fly on elsewhere - certainly wouldn’t do it now I enjoy my comfort too much..

Sunny though fresh out there this morning, thankfully its not long till the shortest day; the dark, cloudy mornings we’ve had lately made the day seem way too short.

Picked up some nice cold meat yesterday which I’ll have for lunch with some coleslaw in a toastie, then pork and pepper fajitas with sweetcorn salsa for tea.

Dull and cool outside, with maybe brighter later. I also had the lovely red sunrise Wednesday 2000, but that never lasted long.

I think my microwave made be giving up or it wasthe butter I was melting tonight  :# I'll check tomorrow when it doesn't matter if it throw the electric and I can see inside better, it's only about 3 years old and was a cheap Kenwood on so I'm hoping not.  I only need a basic one and notthe combination ones which were popping up on my feed

If it does give up then Asda / George online have some cheap ones, just basic, turn a knob type. Friend has just bought one £42, but offers come & go, depends on if fussy about colour matching etc or just something to ping food. The £42 one is now £57, so I guess it depends on what they want to clear out.
A basic check for microwave is a cup of plain water and see if it boils

Lunch, just fancying tinned plum tomatoes on toast, ever since my last lot got binned because they had “blown” I have freshly delivered Essentials, so I'll try them out lunchtime
Dinner, defrosted skinny & puny cheapo pork chop, with HM AF chips and some side salad

If I feel up to it, I may make a banana loaf later, I have two black spotty bananas glaring at me :/

    Good morning everyone,
Drizzly but mild here this morning, it was frosty at bedtime yesterday but warmed up overnight. My sis is feeling a little better so DS2 is taking Ari home at lunchtime. I'm CFO tonight as DS2 & Hector are heading to Glasgow to DS1's for dinner. There's LO chicken for lunch and I'll decide later what to have for dinner.

Thanks Farway, microwave seems ok now, I'll keep an eye on it

Another wet day and it was very foggy when I put the bin out at 7.30pm.  I'm off work for the next few days (back Wednesday) so I'm hoping it stays dry

I went back into my Christmas SM order I had visions of forgetting to do it and ending up with £40 of the gin used to hold it being delivered 🍸 it will need tweaking  but at least it is food now  :D

I didn't fancy soup for lunch so made a cheese and ham toasty. Pasts and meatballs for dinner

  • Well that’s my working week done, thank goodness - there is no sign of things slowing down before the holiday!

Absolutely manic today. Ate my leek, pea and mint soup with cheese topped roll whilst having a quick catch up with a colleague.

Pesto pasta with salmon and green veg tonight.
  • I have just had toast and Flora and marmite for breakfast. I'm going to make some tea in a minute.

I got a text about my blood test results for a phone GP appointment. I looked online and I think it is my thyroid. My TSH level is slightly higher than it should be so I don't know if that means I need to have my medication adjusted.

I made a yummy chickpea salad yesterday for lunch and I have enough to make another for lunch today. I have a pitta bread left to have too.

    Good morning everyone,
    Dreary but mild here today.
DS2 headed early doors to Newcastle for a contractors meeting and Christmas lunch/afternoon paid for by his employer. He's driving back afterwards and then that will be him finished up until the New Year.
My sis is feeling a good bit better so off out tonight, she'll drop Ari off late afternoon.
I've woke up with a huge pimple on the end of my nose so if Santa needs a stand in for Rudolph I'll meet the brief! Thankfully I've nothing social on so no need to get the camouflage out!
Casseroled a pork shoulder steak for dinner last night so LOs of that for lunch. I've a small portion of minced beef defrosting for tonight, I'll decide later what to do with it.

Dull with sun trying hard and a bit chilly, but not raining so that's OK, especially as it's bin day, nothing says winter like a wet wheelie bin

I did that last year not realising until it was too late and finished up with two turkeys :o , luckily one was a frozen one, which is still in the freezer ready to appear this Christmas. As it happens with the inflation of the past year, it has turned out OK due to price increases.
I altered my Asda delivery yesterday & will sort out the W8rose one later, I'm waiting for the veg to come down to 20p or wherever, which I think will be next week. If I forget, I did learn from last year & used mainly chocolate for my holding the slot.

Made fresh loaf overnight, so again it's fresh bread salad sarnie for lunch
Dinner, I have too many spuds so making a pot of mash and think of using up some frozen nuke in bag kippers, they'll also help flavour my nuked porridge tomorrow morning :s

  • Caught up on paperwork, filing and shredding this morning, feels great getting on top of that as well as the place looking tidier :)

More of my soup stash for lunch, butternut squash this time. Cold meat, coleslaw & salad for tea, might also do a batch of roast pots & parsnips some for me some for the freezer.

Not working today and his lordship allowed me a lie in 😁 I had planned to meet a friend for breakfast but she wasn't well when she woke up and neither of us wanted her to share.  I parked at my sis for my osteopath appointment and had a sandwich at hers when I got back, we were entertained by her granddaughter 🙂 who told me she had seen Santa this morning (at her baby group) she was frowning as she told me, it seems she was frightened of him, she's only 20 months so it was a bit much for her.

I brought a Pullman tin to get a better shape loaf in my ninja, the shape was good but it would have benefited from another 5 minutes cooking time even through it sounded hollow when I tapped the bottom, I have been cooking round loafs which were not so high so the timings need tweaking.  It was a seeded package mix, hence the black dots.  This one from Sainsburys I may go back to Waitrose if I buy another pack 🙄 I do have flour and yeast etc to make a proper one next time, my sister has bagged half which I'll drop off tomorrow .  I had a slice with soup for dinner
