There was a lovely red sky this morning and as we are expecting heavy rain moving in from the west I decided to go and do my shopping before it starts. There are certain sections of that road where water collects and far too many RTC recently, some fatal, because drivers don’t think to adjust there speed to the conditions.
Last of the salad stuff getting used up for lunch in a couple of wraps and tonight I’ll make an asparagus, bacon and lemon linguine, with a couple of slices of garlic bread.

Very much celebrating it being Friday here, been a long week. Slightly milder as forecast but damp and fairly grey so no washing out as I had hoped.
Scrambled eggs and mushrooms on toasted bagel for lunch. Made chorizo and broccoli pasta with a cream cheese and fennel seed sauce tonight. Washed down with 🍷
Couldn’t face food shopping this afternoon so will go in the morning. Forecast to be a very wet weekend but need to do some Christmas organising so that might work out ok.0 -
Good morning everyone,
The weather has been dreadful here the past 24 hours and it's still tipping it down and quite windy. It's barely light and feeling rather chilly. I think unless it eases a bit I shall forego a bin run today.
Hoping to get the charity return done today and then crack on with the Christmas cards.
Decided I could be bothered cooking yesterday and cooked a griddled pork chop with a HM mustardy parsley sauce. I had it with peas, corn cobette and baked spud. No LOs apart from some of the sauce which will be getting turned into a sort of rarebit for lunch. For tonight I've a beef medallion defrosting which I'll braise with onions. I'll have it with spuds of some description and veg.0 -
Grey & wet start but brightening up now, I could even get out to empty the tea leaves slop bucket later, exciting eh?With the forecast I took some mince out to defrost overnight so I have a chilli in the SC, doesn't really need SC, but it's easy and fuss free that way, no critical timings or burning danger. It's not true chilli, I'm bunging in some LO new spuds to use them upI did find two of my tinned tomato hoard, ex Covid, were “blown” as I opened them, binned them and checking the dates they were BBE 2019 so they've been lurking a long time.
Had a quick check of some other back of cupboard items, all seems well & in date, just those two.
Lunch, sosig sarnieDinner, SC chilli, maybe nuke some packet rice as wellEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0 -
Pretty horrid here too, heavy rain forecast for most of the day. Still not going shopping I'll work away with what I have in the freezer for another day or so.
Caught up on domestic chores this morning; some tidying then all floors hoovered and mopped just having a break to let them dry off before I start prepping lunch. I need to use up some salad leaves so I'll have them with avocado, feta and pomegranate. Good old mince and tatties tonight with some buttery cabbage and maybe some skirlie.
There's a film classic on this afternoon (Some like it hot) so it'll be feet up in front of the telly for me.Jan - June Grocery spends = £531.61

A wet start to the day which cleared but it's been getting very windy from early afternoon after the second time I gave up picking up the wheelie bins, and it sounds very strong now. I'm assuming it's coming from across the county line Farway?
Work slightly overran but we finished by just 2.30pm this afternoon, just time for a lunch of cheese, crackers and a apple, and to do a load of washing before my sister popped in for a cuppa and left after strictlyI fed her breakfast for dinner sharing my FS bacon and sausage. The LO chicken I was going to have will roll over until tomorrow

Snap on the weather Brambling, are we catching the back of another storm?Braved the rain this morning to do grocery shopping, strangely quiet out and about. I’ve done some tidying and cleaned through downstairs then put the tree up and the few other decorations are out plus I got a festive bunch of flowers from Lidl so looking seasonal 😊
Filled pasta, peas, tuna and sun dried tomatoes for lunch. Made a veg and halloumi egg fried rice tonight, not one of my best but filled a hole!0 -
Up early because I couldn't get back to sleep, no matter because I'm off out soon, visiting DS and my finish up wiht them in a GC for a cuppaIt’s dry at that moment but a Devon contact tells me it's tipping down there, so no doubt next stop is me, then Brambling, just like yesterdayLunch, could be a cake in a GC?Dinner, I have LO chilli which I may nuke, or more likely I'll have a rummage & decide thenEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0

Good morning everyone,
And still it rains, not as "should we build an ark" heavy as yesterday but still persistent, I will need to brave the deluge at some point and do a bin run as the food bin gets emptied tomorrow.
Charity return is submitted and I've written more than half of the cards that need posting.
DS2 returns mid evening after collecting Hector and we're also looking after Ari overnight. My sis will drop him off later this afternoon.
I'll prep a shepherd's pie this afternoon ready to just pop in the oven when DS2 messages to say he's leaving Glasgow. HM soup from the freezer with a toasted bagel thin for lunch.

Personal admin this morning, I need to talk to someone about the pension information I've been sent so was doing some homework on that, my brain if flicking back and forth on what to do. I made a variation of Italian wedding soup this afternoon using YS turkey mince from the freezer for the meatballs but added some pasta, maybe too much so it's looking to be a thick soup now it's cooled 😁 i made more than planned which is typical when I make soup 😁 I did nearly go A over T putting it away, slippery socks on a tile floor and I grabbed the open drawer to try and save myself (not a good idea) Just managed not to go over but scraped my arm and jarred myself in multiple places! the hip which has been feeling better didn't appreciate it
I used the last of some part baked rolls to make a chicken and mustard roll. Pork chop mini roast dinner this evening and for once no LOsLife shrinks or expands in proportion to one's courage - Anais Nin0
