Complete change weather wise from yesterday to a milder very wet day, gave me a excuse to stay home and potter
Toasted soda bread for lunch. I made a beef and kidney casserole with dumplings in the ninja for dinner, when I brought the skirt in the farm shop they threw in some ox kidney 😁 it's been in the freezer waiting for the colder west. The last of the suet was brought last year but seemed ok and made lovely dumplings 🙂 I noticed it is now silly money over £3 a packet and as I don't make that many I'm going to try a pack of dumpling mix brought in Lidl next time. I used a cooking method found on a ninja FB page and pressure cooked it before putting in dumplings and used the baked function, parsnips went in the same time as the dumplings but on a rack. Four portions made so a couple went in the freezer

Very wet, dark & soggy, not a day to go anywhere unless you have toI like the sound of that Ninja casserole Brambling, and have also noticed the rocketing price of suet. I've got some own brand Veggie suet from Morries which works at half the price, £1.39 180g, but I am thinking of trying suetless dumplings once that get low.Only pressing thing today is change bedding and that's itLunch, AF sausages in a sarnie is tempting, but maybe lurking in freezer breaded fish thing instead?Dinner, last of my MFO RMs, it's a chicken curry of some sortEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0

Yes, horrible and dark day here too. I hate having the lights on in the morning! It doesn't feel as bitterly cold as it has done.
I had a banana and toast with Flora and Marmite.
I have a grocery delivery later and I sorted out my kitchen cupboards yesterday and found some red lentils so I am going to make a huge batch of soup. I have lots of odds and ends of frozen vegetables to use up.0 -
Good afternoon everyone,
Later posting than usual as had a pre-AGM chat with the Chairperson then put the finishing touches to a pot of spicy lentil and tomato soup. A mug of that and a sandwich filled with LO lamb will be lunch,
Ever so slightly milder today, though not enough to thaw. The paths etc. are still like ice rinks. We're supposed to get some sleet this afternoon before it freezes again tonight.
Quick chicken and veg curry tonight for dinner using a jar of butter chicken sauce. I'll have it ready just to reheat after the AGM finishes.0 -
Wet and windy here but thankfully it was a comfortable 6 degrees this morning. I haven’t had my car out for about a week so headed off to the city early on, not a comfortable drive - my poor little car getting buffeted about by the wind.
Did a veggie and store cupboard shop at sainsbugs, they also had 1ltr baileys down to £10 on nectar price savingsstashed that away.
Leftover chicken in a sandwich for lunch and later a lazy tea of onion bhajis, sauce and mixed salad.Jan - June Grocery spends = £531.61

Yep wet and horrid here as well, local FB page reported some road closures due to flooding, as I said days like this I don't miss the drive to work as there are a couple of places between home and the office which flood so it's a decision which way maybe worst.
usual Monday at work, I was delegated training our new lady for a couple of hours this morning so I've a couple of tasks tomorrow I didn't have time for today
Portion of chicken soup from the freezer for lunch and then a double chicken day with a AR chicken leg, potato wedges, coleslaw and broccoli for dinnerLife shrinks or expands in proportion to one's courage - Anais Nin0 -
Another one with milder but still wet weather, don’t think I’ve seen daylight today 🤔
Office day so out and home in the dark, and that’s with only a slightly late finish…got my skates on as was out for a pre Christmas meal and short meeting with my voluntary group.
Portion of the parsnip, butter bean and rosemary soup for lunch. Not bad but don’t think I’ll rush to make it again…0 -
Good morning everyone,First day for a week without a heavy frost though it's only just above freezing, it's to dip back down tonight.DS1, DIL2B and my sis are coming for dinner tonight and we are looking after both Frank and Ari overnight/tomorrow so I'm not expecting to get much done tomorrow so better crack on today. HM soup for lunch and tonight I'm trying a dish based on this traybake Lemon chicken traybake recipe - BBC Food though will cook the chicken and veg on separate trays since I'm increasing the quantities and I'm using thighs instead of breasts. We'll have it with carrots, broccoli and green beans.0

We had someone knock last night and she said she saw a guy hanging around behind our house and next door so she was warning everyone in the area. There have been some burglaries near Southend hospital as I read it in the paper and she thought he was looking around at sheds. I put more lights on at the back of the house. We have a dog, but she isn't much of a deterrent!
I had cereal today instead of my usual toast. I had cornflakes with sliced banana and almond milk and a cup of green tea.
I have the soup I made for lunch with one of the Paul Hollywood rolls with Flora. It feels much milder today.

Good afternoon everyone,
Oh Wednesday that’s horrible, hope he’s passed you by, but its good you have someone in the area that is vigilant and passes info on.
It’s a lovely sunny but cold day here although the forecast for later in the week is warmer & wetter.
Got a few little jobs done today, bills paid, international mail on its way and before the last posting day too, by-golly
Just some fruit for breakfast, using up leftover bits of cold meat and chicken with some salad and crusty bread for lunch. Kitchen smells lovely, I have a bolognese simmering on the stove, so that with some pasta and veg for tea, maybe some Billy Joel and vino rossoJan - June Grocery spends = £531.61
