  • Yes sunny but cold here for most of the day. Just had the little heater on in my home office for most of the time but did put the central heating on for a blast early afternoon.

Was glad of the warmed up LO tomato and feta orzo at lunchtime. Had my usual early tea of beans with toast before swimming. Am just finishing off the last cookie with my cuppa while catching up with bake off.

I went through years of broken sleep, disrupted sleep patterns due to horrors of neighbours and I found the sleep teabags (big brand company) helped me get back to a routine. They have quite a range of flavours but I prefer the spiced apple & vanilla with camomile & passionflowers, @sda often have them on offer.
Thanks N2BT I'll have a look when I'm next shopping

It's been dry here so the temperature has dropped again, I'm glad of a couple of thick FFace hooded tops which mean i can put the heating on for a hour first thing and I'm ok until evening when it goes on again.

My lamb shanks cooked in about 40mins Farway or should I call you Oliver? With some time either side to bring up to pressure and release.  I'm still experimenting with my ninja but I'm now aware that the 15-1 with its 'Smart' lid has teething issues which is probably why they upped their warranty from 1 to 2 years if you brought it after January 2023, a FB group I joined say they send a replacement with no issues. I brought from JL and they also give it 2 years but that's a JL thing

final of bake-off has been watched 🙂 I didn't have any favourites so didn't mind who won 😁 then I switched to Masterchef where I'm supporting the local chef

Mushroom omelette and salad for lunch. LO lamb shank, mash potato and veg for dinner, nice and easy ping dinner 😁

    Good morning everyone,
I was happy with GBBO result, thought they were all great and the right ones made the final.
Very cold here this morning still -5C at 10am so I can't see it getting above freezing before it gets dark.
I had a bit of a pie fail last night, I made a minced beef plate pie something I've done lots of time and the bottom welded to the plate even though it was well greased. I've no idea what went wrong! Still tasted good, though as a heap on the plate rather than a nice slice.  :'(
Fridge bits for lunch and tonight it's a chicken, pea and rice traybake.

Cold but sunny start, DGD training near Aberdeen has snow & ice with weather warning and cold for a good bit longer
I made my ginger pud / loaf yesterday, and custard, so I was back in the 1950s school dinner hall by evening, ideal comfort food on a cold day. Plenty left, I think I'll tweak the recipe next one, more ginger & add in some Golden Syrup to the black treacle.

Asda shopping arrived on time, five subs but all good ones, upgraded items for same price, organic bananas & posh mushrooms for instance

Lunch, sandwich of some sort, and a bit of ginger pud + custard
Dinner, I now have three MFO RM to choose from, the cannelloni looks nice so may be that one

  • We were supposed to go out to eat last night, but the restaurant was closed.

I made dinner for the two of us at home, but it was really gross. I had the Iceland veggie chicken nuggets with Aunt Bessie roast potatoes and I got some veg out of the freezer to steam, but it was probably one of the worst meals I have ever had. I didn't like any of it. Total fail!

I'm sure I liked those roast potatoes when I had them before, but maybe it was cooking them in the AF instead of the oven. I am going to buy a bag of potatoes and make proper roast potatoes in the oven as I did pay to have it deep cleaned!

The workman was using the kitchen to plaster the walls this morning so I bought a smoothie from the local cafe before my GP appointment. I am going to buy the ingredients to make it at home as it is very nice, but overpriced.

My dog is back home this afternoon and I have a Tesco delivery later.

I love a ginger sponge too and often make Mary Berry’s one but prefer a 50/50 treacle & syrup I find treacle on its own way too strong.

Hard frost this morning but thankfully the snow has missed us so far. Had a real stick to the ribs plate of pea & ham soup for lunch and have a couple of lamb leg steaks in the slow cooker one for me one for the freezer.

I’m beginning to run low on soups so thought I’d soak some peas, barley & lentils overnight to make a broth tomorrow.

  • Just about got warm, the house took ages to warm up this evening 🥶

Out at four offsite meetings today (all in the same place). Grabbed a few minutes to warm up some leek and sweet potato soup that I made last night. Salmon fillet with leek and cannellini bean stew from the freezer tonight so nice and easy.

It's time to get the thermals out, brought a couple of years ago on the hottest day of the year at 70% off 😁 and probably a sign that I'm getting old.  My mother would have approved of me wearing vests

i brought a couple of cheap solar motion sensor lights (came in a two pack) my old one I inherited 18 years ago now hates me, it will come on for the cat, foxes, the wind and visitors but I can wave my arms around like a lunatic to try and get light when I can't find the keyhole 🙄 I put both up, they are stick on so I'm not sure if they will be strong enough on brick but they can be screwed on.  I realised two may be overkill my old light is obviously was very dim, I haven't replaced the bulb in 18 years either 😬

Company pension info came today, I need time to go through the options and work out what to do, it was a thick stack of papers so I need a clear brain. Important decisions to be made

Tuna mayo jacket potato for lunch. A freezer rummage provided vegetarian lasagna for dinner

    Good morning everyone,
Brrr another very cold and icy one. I shan't be heading out as it's slippy and I'm home alone today! DS2 headed off at 5am to Newcastle, he's not back until Saturday so DS1 is collecting Hector this evening. I'm loving the fact that my new deck has an area to store logs so I don't have to trek to the main store to replenish if DS2 isn't about. Domestics and admin planned for today and I've a virtual meeting tonight. LO traybake for lunch (might turn it into soup) and dinner is tbc probably something on toast.

Hope your thermals are working Brambling, we had snow flurries this morning & the wind is bitter, guessing much the same for you. Like Caron I'm sticking inside, not icy under foot, just cold & bleak outside.

Some domestic, my content insurance renewal has arrived, at treble last year's price :o . Needs a bit of work there.

The weather has changed my meal plans, it's warming hot food today
Lunch, open tin of Heinz macaroni cheese, on offer
Dinner, I bought an Asda salmon half to divide into fillets, so slice some off, steam it in a parcel along with broccoli, carrots & baby spuds
LO Ginger cake + custard if needed
