  • Another miserable day, weather wise. Walked into town before the rain started to do a couple of Christmassy errands. Have then made myself change the bed and clean through upstairs, so that’s everywhere looking a bit more presentable.

Avocado and scrambled eggs on toast for lunch. Made a balsamic chicken thigh, new potato and tomato traybake tonight. LO chicken in the fridge ready for tomorrow night’s jambalaya 🙃

    Good morning

Another wet and windy morning out there. I’m hoping for a break in the heavy rain so that I can go for a walk up to the “honesty box” for eggs at the farm road.

Having a very spotty skinned banana mashed on toast for breakfast, lunch will be a cheese & onion quesadilla using the mini wraps I have. Defrosted some minced beef overnight, think I’ll stick with the mexican theme and do a chilli for tonight.

Personal admin this morning, I need to talk to someone about the pension information I've been sent so was doing some homework on that, my brain if flicking back and forth on what to do.  I made a variation of Italian wedding soup this afternoon using YS turkey mince from the freezer for the meatballs but added some pasta, maybe too much so it's looking to be a thick soup now it's cooled 😁 i made more than planned which is typical when I make soup 😁 I did nearly go A over T putting it away, slippery socks on a tile floor and I grabbed the open drawer to try and save myself (not a good idea) Just managed not to go over but scraped my arm and jarred myself in multiple places! the hip which has been feeling better didn't appreciate it  :#

    that sounds painful.

Sunny this morning, could be a good time to get the recycling into it's wheelie bin
Only other things to do is Christmas card sorting before it's too late & really urgent, and change contents insurance, which is online & just a couple of clicks away

Discovered this morning that the pack of fake Weetabix I had stored was a mirage & now vanished. I could add one to my Wednesday delivery list, but I don't like updating once ordered, as it seems to trigger all sorts of corrections by Asda. I'll add to the next list, which is the Christmas delivery one and needs amending anyway.

Fresh overnight loaf made, so fresh bread sarnie, and I may open up a tin of fake Spam, plus piccalilli sounds tempting
Dinner, nuke a portion of the LO chilli. The original was tasty, so now It's matured it should be even nicer.

    Good morning everyone,
    Ouch Brambling, poor you.
It has finally stopped raining, the temperatures dropped overnight and there was a light frost first thing. It's slightly misty now and quite chilly but I'd much rather that than the incessant rain.
DS2 thoroughly enjoyed Amsterdam. They just walked and walked and he clocked up almost 40k steps on Saturday. He's discovered he really likes soused herring and roasted beetroot. Two food items he previously would avoid.
My sis is under the weather, lft negative so far but she must be feeling unwell as she has taken the day off work which is very unlike her. Depending on how she feels later we may keep Ari overnight again.
Christmas cards to be posted have been written, just need to finish notes to go in a couple of them before they can be posted.
LOs for lunch and pork & veg Thai green curry for dinner.
  • OMG 40k steps Caronc - he did loads! Amazing. I was just saying online that I am annoyed as I got just over 69,000 steps last week so I just missed my target of 70k for the week. I need to start checking my Fitbit on Sundays.

Brambling - I think I might book to see an osteopath too. Did you say you got referred through your GP or just googled a private one?

I twinged my hip again at the weekend. It has hurt on and off since I stumbled down the hill I was walking on in the summer. I managed to step awkwardly three times in one night while I was in central London with the uneven pavements walking around in the dark. On my bad hip all three times!

I enjoyed watching Die Hard on the big screen at Prince Charles cinema. It was a good atmosphere and I will see a film there again. I ate so badly all weekend. We had doughnuts, cupcakes and there was a McDonalds next to my hotel!

I have had a wholemeal toastie with vegan cheese and a cup of green tea for breakfast. I got a portion of HM soup out of the freezer last night so that will be lunch. I need to lose some weight as that might help my hip as well. I actually fancy eating healthy food after the weekend anyway.

  • Much milder here and dry for a change, rain comes back tomorrow though…

Office day, which seemed to fly by. The office was horrible and stuffy though so I did get a headache and had to have some tablets to get through the afternoon.

Portion of parsnip and butter bean soup with a wholemeal roll for lunch. LO chicken from yesterday got turned into jambalaya tonight along with the end of a chorizo 😋

I booked it privately Wednesday, they were recommended by someone who had used them, I then looked for reviews online. My hip is still a WIP  but after 1 session it is a lot better, I've exercises as well to keep it moving, it was achy after jarring it yesterday and sore when I went to bed but had forgiven this morning

A nice quiet Monday workwise 🙂 and a 4 day week for me.  After a really blowy night it's been a nice dry day, just a shame to work after the wet weekend

I went to Sainsbury after work as I'm providing the gammon for Christmas and they had some 1.4kg joints half price with nectar, I brought two as we usually cook a 2 kg one, I'll slice some off for me and my nephew and family will help take any LOs. I picked up a beef joint also nectar half price which I will half and freeze (for me) and a few Christmas bits including the Christmas lunch bubbles.  I was offered two packs of cod by the assistant when I stopped next to her, she was marking them down YS to £1 instead of £4.75 so I took them both and split the packs to freeze, not on the menu plan but at that price it would have been rude to turn her down 😁 I had a £6 off voucher from nectar, don't tell my sister but that was 2/3s of the gammon sorted 😁

Lunch was a big bowl of the soup I brought yesterday 😋 it was very filling so dinner was sardines on toast

Thanks for the info. I will look into it. I'm going to give it until after xmas now to see if my hip settles down a bit on it's own.

I have a blood test today so I can't eat anything until after. I really fancy a cup of tea and feel hungry, typically.

The decorator just arrived to repaint our living room. I hope he is finished by the end of tomorrow as he needs to do the kitchen too.

It is raining so I will need to take my umbrella out with me.

Dull, wet & rumble of thunder, today is the wet day

You are doing well on the YS items Brambling, nearest I get online is the Asda star buy stuff, but there's new Farm foods opening here this weekend. Not that I'll be in there this side of Christmas with the expected crowds, maybe nearly next year once the season has settled down.
However, from the leaflets that come through my door I'm not sure if there is much for me in there

Lunch, LO tinned meat in a sarnie, exciting!
Dinner, nuke the last of the LO chilli

It's Asda delivery tomorrow, no indication yet of any missing items, I've got an on offer leg of lamb arriving which may or may not see Christmas, depends on dates, size etc. Because I'm over veggie DS for Christmas, I may use the lamb earlier if the mood takes me.

  • Good morning,

Did a bit of tidying of the freezer yesterday so instead of making chilli, already have some in the freezer that I’d forgotten about, I found some frozen aubergine slices so ended up making moussaka instead. I think I need to leave off buying mince for a while until the following supply has gone - Bolognese x 2, Chilli x 2, Moussaka x 2  :|

Its been too wet and windy to walk up to the farm for eggs, picked some up from the fish shop instead along with a nice piece of salmon. Got a small granary loaf from the baker so it’s egg mayo sandwiches for lunch and for tea I’ll try this  https://www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/horseradish-baked-salmon
