I am going to have some cherries I left to defrost last night along with a cup of coffee with oat milk. Then some toast before I leave as I have another hospital appointment. Rheumatology today.
I am going to have pasta later and I will use up a leftover half jar of olives and make a sauce with garlic, onion, tin of toms etc...

Cold but sunny, sort of. DGD up near Aberdeen reports frost this morning, very pretty, but not for working in.Made an overnight loaf, so it's fresh bread for lunchtime sarnie, could be bacon misshapes for something warmingDinner, I've taken some braising steak out of freezer, but it may not defrost in time, in which case it'll be frozen breaded cod fillet & frozen oven chipsI''m also using up the last of this summer's own grown & stewed blackberry & apples in a crumble, with HM [from Bird's powder] custard.Feeling very smug because I used thermal expansion to get two Pyrex jugs apart ready for custard
. I'd made the mistake of stacking one inside the other
One of the tricks that works, or I suppose it's now a "Clever Hack"Eight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0 -
Good morning everyone,
I had to demonstrate that "Clever Hack" Farway when we were away recently. I was surprised none of the rest of the family knew it. They must be much better than I am at not stacking things inside each other lol!
It was very frosty first thing and it's still only just above freezing. Lovely and sunny though.
Domestics today, there's admin I could be doing but it can wait as I've done lots this week.
Yesterday's pork casserole was delicious, definitely a make again. LOs for lunch.
Usual Friday tbc later for dinner.0 -
Wfh today and although it did brighten up eventually, it was damp for a long time so didn’t bother putting any washing through - must do some towels tomorrow if the forecast sun makes an appearance.
Scrambled eggs and mushrooms on toasted bagel for lunch. Just made creamy smoked salmon gnocchi with green beans and frozen peas chucked in.
Have meal planned and shopped (farm shop and Lidl) so all sorted for the week and don’t need to go anywhere tomorrow if I don’t want to, will certainly be staying warm and watching Saturday Kitchen first thing 🙃0 -
The 'clever hack' must be for those above a certain age as I used it recently on some Pyrex bowls 😁
Busy start to the day as I was delegated to do some training at the last minute but this afternoon was quiet enough to tick a lot off my to do list. I'm working tomorrow from 2 - 10 so not quite the end of the week for me 😕
LOs mince and vegetables for lunch. I cooked a small chicken in my ninja tonight, it was a bit guess work as there are several ways of doing it and they all were cooking bigger chickens so I wasn't sure on the timings, I could have put the probe in and set it to chicken and it would stop once the internal temperature was high enough, I used the steam air fry option, It was very nice really moist with crispy skin, it took about 10 mins to come up to steam and I set it for 35 minutes I think I could have done less but 45 mins is still less time than the oven. No roast potatoes but I added parsnips and browned it when the chicken was resting. Plenty of LO chicken for the weekend which will be handy tomorrow

Sunny but cold again, supposed to say sunny for the day, in which case I'll get a bit of planting done, just violas in pots at the frontNice to read, I'm not the only one who manages to get items stuck inside each other, at least us older ones know how to get them apart againLunch, another bacon buttyDinner, braised steak now it's defrosted, with mash, nice and warmingI had the breaded fish yesterday because the steak was still frozen, I was trying out the Essentials fillets from Asda, not very nice so going lower in this instance is a no no for me, but worth a try jut in caseOnly other items for today is complete my Asda list or next week delivery, it has some Christmas bits on it in case they get harder to find in December, certainly bumped up the cost of this week's shopping though, but I did splurge because of the £13 I had from themEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0

It feels quite chilly, but maybe because I have been on my laptop quite a lot this morning.
I got an Indian takeaway lasy night from a new local place and I was not impressed despite the good reviews. The best thing was the samosas and I just had two leftover for breakfast. I also had some Matcha green tea as I do feel cold. It is sunny and bright, though.

Good morning everyone,
A lazy start for me this morning, popped to the loo around 6 am then fell back asleep until 10am. I was still up before DS2 and Hector, my that pooch loves a lie in!
Heavy frost here this morning, I've not been out but DS2 reports it's icy underfoot.
I've a few things on my "to do" but little that actually must be done today. I'll potter along and see what I get done.
Cooked a quick Lorne sausage stew for dinner last night and had some with HM mash from the freezer. LOs for lunch today. HM burgers tonight with salad and HM wedges.0 -
Lazy day for me really. Was bright and sunny so load of towels on the line - they needed finishing in the dryer but that fluffed them up 😀
Saturday Kitchen and some catch up tell this morning. Voluntary admin whilst listening to Rylan on Radio 2 this afternoon.
Spinach and ricotta tortellini with tuna, sweetcorn and sun dried tomatoes for lunch. Last lamb burger from the freezer (left from bbq season which seems a long time ago) with guacamole, sweet potato wedges and roasted vine tomatoes tonight.0 -
Does DS2 want to train my cat into allowing me a sleep in Caronc? His lordship has no concept of weekends 🙄
I worked on and off until 9pm tonight, at one stage we were 2 hours ahead of schedule and then we had a IT glitchI did make some bread in my ninja this morning, using a premix so I could see if it worked before buying stone flour and yeast, you prove it twice then steam bake. I used my processor to knead so really easy and very nice although not the usual shape 😋 I remember why I don't make my own bread especially when I have butter in the house 🫣 I snacked as I worked on far too much of it eaten today
chicken and stuffing sandwich for lunch and due to the snacking and late finish just some apple and blackberry for dinner. I decided that a crumble wouldn't be a good move and it would be too late, the fruit was already cooked
when looking at recipes on Utube I saw someone make a crumble and they put frozen berries in the bottom, then tin custard on top before adding the crumble mix and cooking - I don't think I've ever seen anyone add the custard in the crumble and then cook it!
