    Good morning everyone,
LOL Brambling, that would be a challenge and a half! Hector had another lie in this morning!!
Another frosty start here, it's not as sunny today so feels much colder. Rain is supposed to arrive later.
My balance is very iffy this morning so will be having a careful day. Hopefully it will settle as they day goes on.
Bacon butty I think for lunch and I've small piece of lamb shoulder defrosted to roast later.
  • I am making vegan bacon in the AF and having it in a bagel. I might have a hot drink as well.

This sore throat is dragging on, it felt worse again when I woke up. I did just gargle with some TCP that I forgot I even had.

I'm about to get into a nice hot bath. :)

Dull & damp but not actually raining
Hope you're not "coming down" with something Wednesday with feeling cold & sore throat, by coincidence I had ordered some Fisherman's Friend from Amazon which arrived this morning, along with the fake Lemsip on order from Asda I should be OK this winter, or at least be able to fight back

when looking at recipes on Utube I saw someone make a crumble and they put frozen berries in the bottom, then tin custard on top before adding the crumble mix and cooking - I don't think I've ever seen anyone add the custard in the crumble and then cook it!
Does seem an odd way, but maybe it works well, sort of trifle once the custard sets?
Oddly enough I was Youtubing, looking at Savoury crumble, some nice looking ideas there, and I'm going to try one when the opportunity arises, basically from what I could see substitute sugar with grated Cheddar and away you go

Lunch, back to 50s, bread & dripping, I had LO beef dripping from the silverside I cooked mid-week. Very enjoyable, heart bypass booked for later. It was HM loaf though, so sort of healthy
Dinner, more 50s, bangers & mash, using LO mash and AF frozen bangers. Maybe open a tin of beans

I have LO HM blackberry & apple crumble + LO custard if required later

  • It has been about 10 days now Farway. I hope I'm not getting something else on top of it. My brother said there is lots of illnesses going around at his work (he works at a uni) but not many are testing positive for Covid. Maybe just a normal flu/cold.

  • Miserable damp, grey day so haven’t been far.

Bed stripped and remade, bedroom dusted and hoovered, floors hoovered and mopped, bit of ironing done. Out for a swim before lunch of scrambled eggs and mushrooms on toast.

Chicken thigh, new potato, courgette and pepper balsamic traybake tonight. Plenty of LO chicken and roast veg for later in the week 🙃

Maybe some herbs, salt and pepper as well  Farway ? I unfortunately had a slight mishaps with my apple and blackberry crumble   :s:'(  at least I had delayed washing the floor this morning so at least that wasn't rubbing salt in. Annoyingly it was in one of my nice glass dishes which had a bamboo lid for storage 🙄 I decided it needed to be put on a lower rack in the ninja  and dropped it taking it out to reshuffle I got covered as did most of the kitchen floor and up my cupboards, the FF etc

Ninja 1 - Brambling 0 and long silicone gloves brought on Amazon!!

Asthma meant I was due my my covid jab late morning it was also to try and keep it away from the little one.  I went back to my sister's for a bacon roll for lunch and a M&S spiced bun 😋
I ended up with visitors late afternoon for nearly 3 hours when my sister had last minute babysitting duties and my youngest nephew was entertaining  friends, his lordship is still getting over the shock of a loud hurricane hitting the house 👶  I did two loads of washing for her as her machine is leaking badly.  After they left I had the crumble disaster so gave up on cooking dinner after cleaning up and had a chicken and stuffing sandwich and sulked

Woke up with Debbi battering the house, very glooming & wet but sun's now out but still very windy
That crumble was not meant to be Brambling, just think of calories saved, nothing stains like blackberries does it

With Debbi and being so dark, I did not get up until nearly eight, so now I'm sort of out of sync with timing.

Visit from DS yesterday evening, nothing in particular but general "How's it going" stuff, looking like it could be his place for Christmas day, which is fine but no chance of anything relating to animals for my food, all of them are very vegetarian and don't like fish so even smoked salmon etc is out, so I will have to lump it and just play with the kids Lego

Lunch, last stale crust, toasted with grilled cheese topping
Dinner, I have LO braised beef but may go lazy & bung a frozen pizza in
    Gardener’s pest is chef’s escargot

    Oh no Brambling.

I have had some blueberries and a toasted bagel with the last scrapes of PB and a sliced banana.

It absolutely poured down earlier and I shut most of the windows, but now there is bright sunshine!

    Good afternoon everyone,
Oh no Brambling, it's a proper splat!
We had very wild weather overnight but it's calm now so we seemed to have avoided the worst of Debi. It's milder than recent days but doesn't really feel like it!
My balance is less iffy today so hoping to catch up on bits I didn't attempt yesterday. LOs for lunch and tonight I'm trying the cauliflower and sugar snap pea recipe from this article  Chetna Makan’s four easy curry recipes | Food | The Guardian. If it's as good as the yoghurt chicken one I'll be a happy bunny.
  • Much like others, the weather has changed considerably during the day but we seem to have missed the worst of the storm. Office day and the roads were busy on the way in, I blame the rain…

Spicy parsnip soup and toasted pitta for lunch. Tonight was pasta with a sauce made of bacon, passata, smoked paprika and the LO roast courgette and peppers from yesterday. There are LO LOs…
