It's good that the specialist identified the problem Caronc I assuming it's a thank god for pet insurance

YouTube is great for finding out how to do most things 😁 I learnt to crochet via it in lock down and how to remove the u bend to clear a block kitchen sink! If you want to know how to do something you can guarantee someone else has done it and videoed it

Not sure what is happening with my plum tomatoes I brought what was labeled as baby plum tomatoes and they weren't and as they ripen the ends are going flat and black and looks like it has been 'scabbed over' so I've not fancied eating them the cherry tomatoes are really nice and I took a bag to my sister tonight

Another ham and cheese salad for lunch.  It's my nephew's 30th today so Chinese takeaway and chocolate cake for dinner and I'm feeling over fed at the moment. Not sure where all those years have gone

  • I tried to take a pic of the carpet but it was so sunny yesterday that it didn't really show the difference before and after. It didn't look that dirty but it looks much better and she showed me the buckets of black water she lifted out, along with all the pet hair! Gross. :D

I have been lugging furniture around this morning. It feels quite sunny today, but not as hot and muggy. I am also trying to spring clean my sofa by sprinkling baking soda and then you vacuum it off and it is meant to clean it. I also need to hang up the laundry.

I had "excellent" sleep again last night. :)

I did hear yesterday that the woman we went out with on Saturday night has Covid, but we both feel okay. I took paracetamol last night and I have just had some vitamin C water, but I think we escaped it. The bar we went to was outside on the river so there was probably enough fresh air circulating.

I haven't eaten yet as I'm waiting for Ocado to get here. I'm going to have a wholemeal roll with vegan ham and mustard with a salad along with with coleslaw and potato salad. I'm really hungry.

    Good morning everyone,
Oh it's pet insurance and much more Brambling, bill is now well into 5 figures!! Thankfully they have decent savings so were able to carry on once the insurance limit was reached. I dread to think what their renewal premiums will be but he's worth it to them.
Sounds like blossom end rot Brambling which will probably be a result of the very hot followed by the very wet weather and lack of light. Often if you cut it off the rest of the fruit is fine to eat. Blossom end rot / RHS Gardening
Wee Frank is doing exceptionally well. His digestive system has restarted without any assistance so he's on 2 hourly feeds and fingers crossed everything will work as it should and the intestine doesn't fold again. He's not out of the woods yet but he's needing less pain relief etc. and if everything continues as it is he may get discharged as in patient with the specialist vet to either as an in patient for a few days with his usual vet or home. DS2 got back as planned and they'll visit him this afternoon. DIL-to-be had an hour of gentle cuddles and strokes with him yesterday. Both Hector and Ari have pretty much recovered, Hector certainly has his bounce back and was battering his toys this morning. :)
I wish I could get my bounce back, my back is very sore post-physio if it's not easing by tomorrow I'll give him a phone as it's feeling a bit "crunchy". I have some admin needing done today but will avoid sitting for too long in case it seizes.
LOs for lunch and JO's sausage pasta for dinner.

'Morning all, nice & sunny here.
Asda has been, one sub had to be returned, order was jumbo Yorkie, sent lots of little ones which while tasty are no good for tipping "stuff" in.
Rest is fine and long-dated so no rush to think of meals & use up or freeze, I've just realised it's Bank Holiday weekend, not that I was doing anything, but I'm all set now if things change

Good dog news all round Caron, lucky the money is there, but it does show how quickly things can escalate, and hard choices would be needed

Made an overnight loaf, lovely smell of fresh bread and tasty fresh bread salady sarnie for lunch, maybe add some grated strong cheese?
Dinner, despite all the fresh goodies arriving I'm going to use up the LO lamb stew & dumplings thingy before I open the fresh items

Crumpets have appeared in my shopping :o

  • I'm glad Frank is getting better. When my dog was ill he had to be on a drip for a month and it went up to £10,000 very quickly. The insurance took ages to pay out, but luckily they did carry on as he needed ongoing care for the last years of his life.

  • Wfh today and got loads done, which is good as I finish for 10 days on Friday and the next 2 days are rammed with meetings.

End of the dolcelatte in a salad with new potatoes, cherry tomatoes, cucumber, lettuce and roasted peppers with a sherry vinegar dressing for lunch. Out to eat tonight - Turkish 😋

My last day tomorrow until the 11th September 😁 I'm going away with my sister for a week then i have a week pottering at home.  My nephew is on cat duty, his lordship loves him he is about the only man he lets near him and I usually get sent photos of him on my nephew's knee

Thanks for the tomato advice Caronc I looked at the link and you were right.  My first year with the  greenhouse so a few lessons learnt.  Ouch on the vet bill, because I only have cat(s) I self insure (dogs I would insure) the two cats I had before his lordship emptied the kitty kitty in their last few months and I lost them both close together, it was a expensive time made worst with no cats at the end of it 😕 it's just as well we love the little ******s

A slightly surprising day with a unexpected and very nice size pay rise I think my regularly reminding the manager that I could retire in May especially after the very small pay rise we were given in April and my colleague telling him how much below market value we were being paid when she left combined in him pushing his boss to try and make it more tempting to stay! However if he doesn't replace at least one if not both of the colleagues who have left in the last couple of years it wouldn't work, my patience is low and I've a sore tongue from biting it, getting to old for office politics 🙄

lunch was a tomato and mozzarella salad.  I forgot to raid the freezer this morning so dinner was pasta and tomato and veg sauce

Catching up on the program on Dorset and having a laugh about the prices of houses at Sandbanks, when we were kids it was a favourite beach  with just a small cafe which sold buckets and spaces as well and mainly 1930s bungalows it was two buses to get to but a family favourite beach 😁 I'm not sure when it went crazy down there

I had a wholemeal roll with marmalade for breakfast. I just booked my winter flu jab for September at Boots. I thought I would get organised early this year. My friend is coughing quite a bit with Covid apparently and trying to isolate in her bedroom, although her husband didn't catch it.

The sun has won, clouds have gone, so maybe the threat of thunder has gone as well?
Good news on the pay rise Brambling, will make your holiday even more enjoyable, hope the weather keeps fine for you

I'm unsure of today's meals, lots of choices but a bit of CBA to cook them
Lunch, heat up a couple of sausage rolls, for convenience mainly
Dinner, roast pork probably but the CBA may decide to bung a frozen pizza in

    Good morning everyone,
Good news on the pay rise Brambling.
Wee Frank is getting discharged this afternoon, he's doing amazingly well. Still a way to go but he no longer needs any care that can't be administered at home or as an inpatient. He'll have daily checks at his own vets for the next two days, then every two days and so on.  Hector is back to his usual self but Ari still has a slightly iffy tummy, though his symptoms developed later than Hector's so hopefully they'll settle soon.
LO pasta for lunch and JO's "bejewelled pork" with rice"n"beans and salad for dinner.
