  • I went out to buy bread from Coop for breakfast, but I got caught in the rain so i ducked into my favourite vegan restaurant as I happened to be opposite! Not very moneysaving but nice. I'm having the nachos.

Nothing very exciting planned for today. Just more TV. It is quite nice to have a relaxing weekend as last weekend was busy.

Thanks Caronc we are staying at Beadnell which is a few miles from Bamburgh Castle (about 5 or 6).  We are planning Alnwick gardens tomorrow and have a boat trip booked to Holy Island Monday 🙂 we walked along the beach to Seahouses today to avoid driving 🙂 we were very MSE and took sandwiches and avoided the many many Fish and chip shops there, we were tempted by a piece of Bakewell tart and a cuppa before walking back TBH we would have shared it if we had known how big a slice we would get.  It was a surprisingly warm day after a storm at 10am and we walked along a nearly empty beach other than a few dog walkers in tee shirts wishing we had packed shorts

Sunny start here, hope yours keeps the same Brambling
Nothing planned, maybe do a spot of gardening if sun keeps out
Exciting, my new saucepan arrives sometime today, probably just left on door step so need to keep eyes open alter

Made 13 and bit jars of blackberry & apple jam yesterday, from my HG own apples & berries, they turned out well this year, some years I over boiled, and it's set hard. Now I need to find storage space, I was not anticipating this many jars

Lunch, more sausage rolls + brown sauce
Dinner, more salad, no idea what to use as main meaty / fish part, maybe nothing, grate some cheese, boiled eggs? I will have decided by the time I need to

    Good morning everyone,
Beautiful photo Brambling, it's a gorgeous part of the UK. Enjoy your trips, just no collecting anything at Alnwick lol!!
Happy new saucepan Farway, I hope it arrives undented!
DS2 had a good time at The Fringe and got home just after midnight. Him and Hector have only just surfaced.
Forecast for today is very mixed and looking at the sky I don't I'll be hanging a washing out.
Another pottering day and I want to do a bit of food prep this afternoon.
LO mince soup for lunch and I've pork rib chops defrosting for later to have roasted with veg and spuds.

I just went for a walk to get some steps in as I have been totally idle this week. I went to the park and started walking down the hill to the beach, but then saw the tide was out so I didn't bother. I really thought I would be at the beach every day when I moved here, but I haven't been at all!

I had half a veggie sausage roll before I left and the it was hotter than I thought so I got a can of coke from the local cafe on the way back. I got some veggie southern fried grills out of the freezer last night so I might have them with fries and salad.

Mixed weather, sun & then dull, but dry so just like a Bank Holiday

No saucepan yet, now due today before 10PM, normally my Prime stuff is following day, but I can forgive them on BH weekend and TBH delivering saucepans on a BH is not what I'd choose to do
Luckily I had an alternative pan for some fresh but bird pecked apples I picked from the garden yesterday, only half a dozen or so, not fully ripe, but I'd rather have them stewed than see them rot on the tree after pecking

Not much planned for the day, get DDs runners prepped & frozen in meal size batches, catch up on Beechgrove and that's about it
Made an overnight loaf, so lunch is another sarnie, just bacon + brown sauce I think
Dinner, roast pork, roast potatoes, carrots & runners plus if I remember in time, frozen sprouts
Ideal, dull sort of weather for a roast

    Good morning everyone,
Dry and sunnyish here this morning.
It's not a BH up here but DS2 is off as he technically works in Newcastle! He had hoped to get the deck roof built but the materials have been delayed so he drain finding instead. We want to install an additional trap at the bottom of the garden and try and get a better handle on if and bit in that area has partially collapsed. If not it will be back Scottish Water as we'll be able to demonstrate the problem is beyond my boundary.
Wee Frank is recovering really well, still a few hurdles to jump but gaining more oomph each day. He's back to vet's tomorrow for a wound check, a tummy scan and some blood tests.
LOs for lunch and tonight we're having JO's pasta with bacon and peas.
  • I didn't have the Southern grills as I didn't fancy them. I had a bite when my husband ate them. Nothing amazing. I fancied pasta so I had some with peas and vegan cheese on top. I have leftovers for lunch today.

Indifferent weather, could go either way, sunny or cloudy, quite mild still so all in all it's OK

Glad to hear Frank is on the mend Caron, a relief all round I imagine

The new saucepan arrived, very posh, I went for the dearer Tefal one rather that cheap Asda & buy again, the dear one is stainless, cheap was aluminium non-stick coated which I guess would soon stick / flake etc

    Meals, lunch another bacon sandwich
Dinner, cold LO roast pork, probably with salad bits and HM AF chips

    Good morning everyone,
Hope your pan lives up to expectations Farway.
DS2 has managed to locate and unearth the drain under the garage after much concrete breaking! Buying a cheap jackhammer earlier in the year has paid for itself! Drain dye shows there is a leak somewhere but whether it's within the boundary or Scottish Water's problem will need a bit of detective work over coming weeks. At least it's just grey water as my sewage pipe runs out the front of the house.
Sis and nephew are coming for dinner tonight. I'm making an Italian-style cottage pie (cue many Italians tutting at the thought lol!) from the Tesco website which is a meat ragu topped with garlic, parmesan crushed baby potatoes. It's all prepped ready to pop in the oven later. LO pasta for lunch.
