  • Strange warm but windy weather here, the odd shower late afternoon and this evening. Managed to get a couple more loads dry on the line and I’ve ironed most of what needed doing.

Was out first thing to the sorting office and for a smallish Lidl shop. Watched Saturday Kitchen with a cuppa then off for a swim.

Smashed avocado and scrambled eggs on toast for lunch. More using up/eating from the freezer tonight - sausage and sweet potato traybake. Also roasted extra sweet potatoes to go in packed lunches, they seem to be never ending 🤔

I worked until just before 1pm but managed to get three loads of washing on the line it did get caught in a shower about 11am when I was on a call but by the time the second came at 2.30ish I had just got it in, light clothes was dry and the bedding and towels are finishing off up stairs

After work I did start to tackle under the stairs until I got wheezy so it was pushed back in 😁 I did find the bottle of gin I was given at Christmas 😋

I got my appointment for my MRI unfortunately it's when I'm away in a couple of weeks so I'll have to reschedule, it a shame as getting to the hospital late Sunday afternoon would be easier as I have to go on the M23 around Gatwick to get to East Surrey

Another freezer rummage for lunch LO chorizo and halloumi jambalaya, the cheese was not at its best but otherwise it froze ok.  Plaice fillets for dinner, lightly dusted in flour and panned fried with AF chips and veg

Weather is undecided, rain first, a bit of sun, now looking like more rain, not a day for long walks even if I could manage one

My LO stew plan failed yesterday, it never defrosted on time :( , so that's tonight dinner. I opened a tin of Lockdown stash Essentials chunky chicken in white sauce, which was surprisingly tasty, and just on BB date as well

Lunch, given the weather maybe grilled cheese on toast
Dinner, as above, nuke the LO beef stew

    Good morning everyone,
We had some torrential rain yesterday evening and unfortunately I have a leak in the back corner of where my conservatory joins the main roof.   I'll need to find a roofer, I think the chap I used before has now fully retired but if so he might be able to recommend someone.
Another day of pottering on the cards, the forecast isn't wonderful so doubt I'll stray very far. I've a slab of belly pork defrosted for tonight, I've had this for ages so really looking forward to it.  LO wings and coleslaw for lunch.
  • I have a Tesco delivery coming later so I looked in the freezer and I am having the leftover lentil bolognese pasta I made the other day. I still have two big portions so it will be leftovers tomorrow too.

I did some cleaning yesterday, but I still need to vacuum downstairs in a minute.

I made a smoothie and then had two leftover slices of pizza for breakfast!

  • Day out today so NT lunch and the obligatory tea and cake this afternoon 😋

Drove through some showers on the way and there was a downpour just after we arrived but mostly a nice sunny day. Bit of mooching and lots of chatting, feel nicely tired. Smoked salmon sandwich in a bit.

I’ve just turned the roast sweet potatoes into packed lunch couscous.

After a heavy shower it's been a nice day here 🌞 some pottering in the garden but otherwise a lazy day

I made kipper pate with my free Waitrose kipper and remember why I don't buy them, too bony but it made a lot of pate I used some ricotta which needed finishing.  I had some for lunch with toast and salad and the rest was frozen.  It funny what memories smells and tastes can trigger I don't remember if we made it or just tasted it when the teacher made it at primary school, but kipper pate was one of the first things I remembered from basic cookery when we were maybe 6 or 7 🙂 that and pepper mint creams and I can remember making those, icing sugar, egg white and peppermint essence 😁

Chicken traybake for dinner with some Toulouse type sausages, white beans and tomatoes baked with orzo pasta amongst other things so a one pot meal just annoyed as I forgot to do the rhubarb crumble I meant to cook when the oven was on

I remember making peppermint creams at school too.

I am not feeling hungry at the moment, but I had to get up early to let the men from the council in to pick up some bulky waste. I had some apple juice to drink.

I have some Sabra houmous that I will have with baby spinach, cucumber and tomatoes in a toasted pitta bread when I feel peckish.

Rain and more rain, but supposed to get much warmer mid-week
Hope you find a suitable roof repairer Caron, hard to know who to trust when the usual one is no longer around

Only work today is change the bedding, and pick some runners for dinner that are ready
I've made an overnight loaf, lunch is usual fresh loaf BLT sandwich
Dinner, ex Christmas turkey drumstick out defrosting, that plus use up Aunty B's frozen roast spuds + my runners and fresh carrots

    Good morning everyone,
Oh I love kipper pate Brambling.
Off for a mammogram this afternoon, DS2 is taking me. The clinic is in gorgeous grounds so assuming it's not pouring with rain he'll take Hector for a walk round them while I'm getting squeezed.
DS2 managed to get a better look at the leaky area and discovered the back gutter was semi blocked so must have been backing up and overflowing. Not the easiest to reach but with the help of a hoe, a hose and a window pole managed to clear it. It was like a Taskmaster challenge!  We won't know for certain until the next the downpour but here's hoping.
LOs for lunch, I seem to accumulated lots of bits the last couple of days. Fish finger tacos for dinner
