I started feeling ill last night, very tired and cold so I went to bed at 6pm! I had about 11 hours sleep. I had to cancel my day/night out today. I have just been in bed or on the sofa all day with my blanket. I don't think it was Covid or even a cold, maybe a fibro flare. The weather has been really chilly and I have had rain all day.

I have been eating random things since I felt better from about midday.

I fancy some ice cream now. I have some Ben & Jerry's in the freezer. <3

  • Has pretty much rained all day here. I ventured out this afternoon but had a very lazy morning watching Saturday Kitchen and doing my meal plan.

Made Camembert and sweet pepper ciabatta pizza and salad for lunch, which used a few bits up. Was also the first batch of my homegrown salad leaves 😊

Few errands, bits of life admin and a pile of ironing this afternoon.

Chorizo and butter bean stew tonight with toasted ciabatta.

I hope you're feeling better now Wednesday  <3

Wet here all day as well so like JKS I had a lazy morning with Saturday kitchen on in the background whilst I got some paperwork done.  I popped to T Express as I forgot something last night and it was easier and dryer than popping into town for one item.

I sorted the freezers this afternoon to get some proper ideas on this weeks menu plan, there is a lurking turkey drumstick in there but seeing as I won't be making soup I'll have a think about what to do with it 🤔 it won't be cooked this week.

Seeing as I'm stock piling tin fish I had tinned mackerel on toast for lunch and carrying on my fishy theme salmon, pea and broad bean risotto for dinner with a variation of salsa verde on top

Hope you've improved Wednesday, at least the weather has been very suitable for lying on a sofa with a blanket
Still a bit soggy here but rain stopped & sun's sort of trying hard

Must be something in the air, I'm collecting tinned fish as well, in fact today I'm opening a tin of pilchards, the Glenryck ones in tomato sauce that everyone has stuck at the back of the cupboard?

Lunch, maybe just a salad sarnie because I can't think of anything else TBH
Dinner, the tinned pilchards in sauce, with nuked jacket spud & salad. I'll have an internet search to see if anything exciting but not too fiddly can be done with the tin of pilchards apart from opening them, although I'm quite happy to eat as they come

Thanks Brambling. I think I will get a decongestant tomorrow as I think I must have sinisitis from the cold I had a couple of weeks ago.

I had some turmeric and orange tea and some crumpets with PB for breakfast. Very dull and boring weather outside. It is feeling like we are heading into autumn!

    Good morning everyone,
Sorry to read you're feeling poorly Wednesday
Heavy showers and really quite windy here, I might have another attempt to get some tomato tidying in the greenhouse down as I never managed to do it on Friday.
Roast rolled lamb shoulder tonight with roasted spuds, veg and gravy. Not terribly seasonal but the weather is far from summery. It's just a half joint but plenty for the two of us and some spare for sandwiches tomorrow.
LO turkey and coleslaw bagel thin for lunch.

Back in the 70s one of my sisters was weekend cook at a 'posh' old people home in Bournemouth and she still tells us that she was expected to cook a three course Sunday lunch usually beef and every week she would make fish cakes from tinned pilchards for tea 🙂

we seem to have avoided the rain today and it has definitely been a little warmer than yesterday.  Nothing much done today other than popping around to a elderly friend for a couple of hours, she has now changed her funeral and DNR plans again 😁 always good to discuss death on a Sunday morning!

Late lunch of cheese on toast with pickle.  Chicken tray bake for dinner with chorizo, orzo, butter beans, leek and mushrooms which for a thrown together meal was very tasty so I'll probably won't be able to repeat it 😁 with veggies. LO for later in the week

  • Just realised I didn’t post last night, not sure why!

Dried up by mid-morning and was a much better day than forecast so got some towels and bedding washed and out on the line, very breezy and fairly warm - such strange weather. Had a domestic duties sort of morning then a nice afternoon reading and catching up on some tv.

Scrambled eggs and mushrooms on toasted bagel for lunch. Harissa lamb steak with a carrot salad for dinner.

Chucking it down here this morning…back later ☔️

I think the weekend of rest did me good as I feel much better today. I did order some decongestants that are arriving today so I got up early as sometimes Amazon deliver before 8 am. I need to remember to keep items like that stocked.

The popup party I was supposed to go to was ruined by the rain on Saturday so I luckily didn't miss much!

I just did a Tesco order for tomorrow and I had £13 worth of vouchers to use.

I have only had herbal tea so far this morning, but I am about to make a smoothie.

Off & on drizzle & sunshine here, but cooler, so I had a full night's sleep for once
Overnight loaf is cooling for a lunchtime sandwich and my first ripe tomato. Well nearly ripe, needs another day or so I reckon

Lunch sandwich, should really be some of the pilchards I opened yesterday, but maybe not if something else tempts me when I look inside the fridge
Dinner, more fish, I've taken an uncoated cod fillet out to defrost, which I'll pan fry, plus frozen AF chips & nuked frozen peas.
Not much prep involved there. I'm frying the fish because it's poor bargain bucket stuff and falls into bits if poached / steamed, and I'll not be buying that again
