I tried to collect my prescription 🙄 they were sent it Wednesday but only have halve, just as well i don't need it yet until I get my blood results back however I did queue for 40 minutes. I'm not sure what happens these days if you need medication straight away as this chemist say they need 48 hours from when it's sent from the surgery!

Other than my abortive trip to the chemist I popped into Lidl lunchtime for a few bits of fresh stuff.  I was annoyed when I got back that a car had parked out front in such a way that they were taking up all three of the parking spaces, if my neighbour is home he leaves notes on windscreens telling people how to park 😁 I did see them come back and caught them to say 'in the future can you park the other way'  it wasn't appreciated 🤨 I was being polite, it wasn't like I was asking them not to park outside!

Lunch was a fish finger sandwich. LO salmon with salad for dinner and LO new potatoes turned into a potato salad

  • A very lazy day today. Did get a bit of a meal plan and my shopping list done while watching Saturday Kitchen 😉

Tuna, cream cheese and caper bagel for lunch with a bit of lettuce. Tenderstem broccoli and anchovy pasta tonight.

Feeling a fresher day weather wise this morning, sunny but pleasant
I've just taken another apple crumble out of the oven, using last year's OG & stewed apples. This was prompted by finding my goosegogs are ripe & ready for picking, not enough for full-blown crumbles or jam, but need using or losing this week. Could be I'll stew them and make Fools using St Delia's recipe https://www.deliaonline.com/recipes/meals-and-courses/desserts/gooseberry-yoghurt-fool ?

    Lunch, BLT I think
Dinner, rest of the MM pork pie, this time with mash because the spuds I have do not make decent AF chips

My runner beans have flowers now, maybe a month or so it’ll be fresh OG runners? The tomatoes are swelling, and one plant is turning from green to paler, so they're ripening up. Can't be soon enough, the shop ones are so hit & miss :(

    Good morning everyone,
Yesterday was hectic. Between dogs, mud everywhere, skip filling, a dying rat in the log store  :o  and cooking a family dinner for the evening the day just disappeared. Apart from looking after Frank again for a few hours this afternoon while DS1 & DIL-to-be attend a naming ceremony. I'm for a quiet one today. Discovered this very good recipe for French-style carrot salad https://www.onceuponachef.com/recipes/f ... salad.html , if you like the ones found in French supermarkets and Bistros it's pretty similar.
LO salads for lunch and I've pork steaks defrosting to make creamy. paprika pork this evening. We'll have the pork with tenderstem, baby corn and baby spuds.

I wondered what French carrot salad was.:)

I was still feeling a bit off yesterday. I am still coughing and my glands feel a bit swollen on one side of my throat, but I feel better.

I am going to have toast for breakfast with PB or vegan cheese. I need to use stuff up today so I think I might make soup for lunch. It does feel nicer it being cooler weather. I just don't like extremes of temperatures!

I watched the new Jack Ryan on Prime yesterday. Seems quite good so far. It is a short series for this last one. 6 episodes.

I love gooseberry fool with rhubarb fool a very close second 😋 unfortunately I can't grow gooseberries damn sawfly 😡

lazy pottering day for me, a lot cooler so more jobs got done 😁

I made a couple of scotch eggs using FS pork and leek sausages 😋 and had one with salad for lunch. I forgot to take gammon out of the freezer so as fish defrosted quicker took out some smoked haddock and had with wilted chard/spinach French beans and mashed potato for dinner

  • Another mostly lazy day here. Went swimming and did a load of washing (line dried 🙃) but not a lot else.

Scrambled eggs and mushrooms on toasted bagel for lunch. Did a chicken thigh, new potato, lemon and oregano traybake tonight. Served with salad and some of the courgette I roasted while the oven was on. Rest of that made into lunches with wild rice, feta, pomegranate seeds and mint. I also prepped fruit for the next couple of days breakfasts and snacks.

In the office an extra day again but it is only a 3 day week 😉

Cooler day this morning, pleasant enough though
Main work today is change my bedding and pick those goosegogs before the birds get ideas

Like the carrot salad idea, Caron, seems easy & tasty, duly book marked
Lunch today, boring cheese grilled on toast,
Dinner, a bit of use up, eggs, bacon, and must be something else lurking I can add
HM apple crumble & HM custard later.
First time I've made custard from Bird's powder for years, normally I use tinned or instant mix packet. I made it in microwave this time, far easier than younger me burning the pan while stirring on stove top :'(

    Good morning everyone,
Yes it was really easy to make Farway and could be easily scaled down if you wished though the full recipe doesn't make an outrageous amount.
It's been rain, rain and more rain here interspersed with very brief sunny spells. Well seeing it's the start of the school holidays. I have a longish list of personal and voluntary admin to tackle and I really ought to sweep through.
I have my first ripening tomato  :D just a small cherry one but it's a start.
Last of the lamb for lunch and DS2 is cooking chicken Hando tonight which we'll have with rice and naan.

    courgette I roasted
I got through phases of liking courgettes and then hating them. Now I have read that I fancy them, lol.

Nothing as yet. I had a late night staying up watching more of Dawson's Creek!

I think I will have a bagel and I wanted to go and look in a charity shop near me for an outfit to wear this weekend.
