  • Gosh, this feels like a long week already - must be time I took some leave!

Strange weather day, overcast and a bit oppressive, tried to rain but nothing really came of it. WFH so lots done but nothing very exciting. Oh well, at least I get paid 😂

LO pasta for lunch with a bit of salad and early tea of beans with toast before swimming tonight (which felt like hard work, maybe it’s me 🙄)

I can relate JKS i informed my manager that I had worked out if I do take early retirement I could be leaving by next Easter 😁 he thinks I'm joking but the way things are at work (we are dreadfully understaffed)  I will be going 🤔 just need to check out my company pension to see if I can afford to

ive enjoyed the cooker weather last night and today, I definitely slept better last night, it did look like it may rain earlier but it just got overcasted.

chicken salad again for lunch.  Vegetable chilli and rice from the freezer for dinner so another lazy day food prep wise 😁

My husband is thinking the same thing about retiring in a few years, not next Easter, though!

    Good morning everyone,
It's sometimes surprising how little difference to the pension sums sticking out for a bit makes against going early Brambling.
We had torrential rain all day yesterday, it's still raining this morning but not as hard. It's supposed to dry up a bit later.
Back to the voluntary admin today, I need to get another chunk out of the way.
Finally seem to be back on track to meet my weight loss goals for this year. I got a bit stuck in April & May (too many family events involving food and drink tbh!) but have been eating much more mindfully this month despite various gatherings!
LO chicken for lunch. I'll have it in a wrap with some salad and fruit. JO's gingery, garlicky black bean mince with rice and shredded omelette for dinner.

Asda delivery arrived, one sub of diet pop so sent it back, I don't like the taste of some diet pop. Now I have lots of food choices again

I retired early Brambling, my manager seemed surprised when my response to job review "where do I see myself in five years time" was on lines of "not here". I managed thanks to a bout of voluntary redundancy. FWIW, if the sums work, go for it. There is a thread on Over 50s Moneysavinging, "How much to live on" if you've not seen it, more down to earth with real money not the you need a pension of more than you are earning now sort

I'm hoping to go again to Wisley tomorrow, but could be rained off. Forecast is damp early then OK, so just have to wait & see
Food today, a bit muggy but leaning towards cooked meal tonight, I have some very posh Scottish salmon fillet from Asda, plus new spuds & broccoli so maybe my steamer will be in use later
Lunch, probably boring toast & something

  • I’ll take making it to the end of the week for now 😂

Offsite meeting as usual this morning but then went into the office for a meeting that then got cancelled…

Muggy and overcast so it really needs to rain to clear it. That is the forecast so 🤞

Second half of the tuna and roasted pepper couscous for lunch. Spiced chickpeas with poached eggs for quick tea after swimming. For some reason I tried poaching the eggs like all the chefs on the telly do, unmitigated disaster so back to my poaching pods next time!

I'll get a 25 year company pension from my previous company next May so if I don't give up work I would need to think about the tax implications if I don't go part time 🤔 my current company pension would only be 10 years and won't be a lot. It I could get that next year as well although it is currently set to 65. TBH my head is bouncing all over the place I'm definitely leaning towards stop working or at full time.

I saw the doc today re gout medication he has sent a prescription to the chemist but wants me to have a kidney function blood test before taking them and for two months they will be a mix of two different tablets and then review again.  I'm out tomorrow in Chichester so the joy bloods may have to wait until Friday

We had major system issues today so lunch was on the run and a grabbed apple with cheese and crackers.  Chicken wings for dinner with wedges, coleslaw and corn one the cob

    Good morning everyone,
Dry here just now, there's supposed to be the odd shower but hopefully no more torrential rain.
My "to do" for today seems to be rather long. Not sure why so better crack on! First task is to finalise my Tesco order, the kids are filling a skip on Saturday and then we are having a family dinner in the evening so it's a big one this week. I need to remember to liberate a leg of lamb from the freezer this evening.
Fridge bits for lunch and chicken and rice traybake for dinner.

I had to drag myself out of bed today to go and get my tetanus jab (after cutting my foot the other day) and it was raining as well. I had to wait for 20 minutes and I could hear the other patient in there just talking and talking! When I got in the nurse said I had a tetanus jab in August 2020. That was during the pandemic and I just could not think why I would have had it then. :o

She said it said on my notes that I cut myself at the beach. I realised it was after the first lockdown we came to Leigh-on-sea to look around with a view to moving here as I got so sick of living in London during lockdown. I totally don't remember cutting my finger. Strange that 3 years have passed since then and that I have managed to cut myself again!

I fell asleep when I got home and so I haven't eaten yet. I'm really hungry now...
