My cat has been very ill the past couple of days. She started vomiting and we had to take her to the emergency vet. They think it is either best case Inflammatory Bowel Disease or much worse case Lymphoma. She is almost 14 so if it is worse case I won't put her through cancer treatment or lots of surgeries. She did eat a little bit of chicken today now she is home, but we have to take her back in a few days to see what they say. :(

The vet bill is £1,800 so far, but hopefully some will be covered by her insurance as she is on Pet Plan.

It has been so hot today here too. I have all the windows open now it has cooled down a bit finally. I had an avocado salad for dinner as well as some cashew nuts and a few vodkas!

JKS I used this one with some tweaking 🙂 I replaced maple syrup with honey and used halved the amount and added a little sriracha sauce for the chilli kick.  I have a bottle of sneezy smooth peanut butter brought on offer so I didn't add water to loosen but will only buy again if I see it on offer

i made it in a jam jar popped it in the fridge

I hope its good news re the cat Wednesday  <3

    Good morning everyone,
    Fingers crossed for puss Wednesday
Dry (just) here just now but more torrential rain is forecasted this afternoon. I'll nip and water the greenhouse before it arrives.
Lots of voluntary admin to do so that will keep me out of mischief this week.
The Tuscan chicken recipe was lovely, I made a few tweaks using vermouth instead of wine, frozen spinach and skinned, diced fresh tomatoes instead of the dried ones. I reduced the chicken but kept the other quantities the same. There's LO chicken for lunch and tub of sauce for the freezer. JO's salmon in a bag with green veg and sweet potatoes for dinner.

Thanks guys. She had a tiny bit of chicken this morning and is now asleep. The vet said that losing her appetite on antibiotics was common.

I haven't had sriracha in ages. I remember it being very hot!

The temps has cooled down today, thankfully. I'm about to have a shower and then have breakfast.

I have a workman meant to be turning up today and this week I have the vet appointment, my tetanus jab from where I cut my foot and a GP phone appointment. So nothing fun at all coming up!

A tad cooler here, which is nice, another restless night though. Early start with a bit of deadheading, but that's it for the day
I've updated my Asda shop as well, added in more bacon + bread flour, luckily I spotted a reduction had finished and back up to normal price, no warning there, but I think Asda leave it at original ordered price if you leave well alone and don't tinker, I was tinkering

Bit of a panic yesterday evening, I had set the bread timer, but somehow it seems to have started kneading later in the evening, so I switched it to Quick bake and now have a loaf, a bit denser than planned but at least not wasted ingredients

Lunch, my new denser loaf, egg sandwich
Dinner, depends on weather, could well be a frozen MFO stab & ping tonight. With HM crumble later

  • Thanks, Brambling. I saved it with the suggested changes, I never buy maple syrup but honey is a staple in this house 😉

Office day today and it was one of those days - busy and things got sorted but not the things I had planned to do…

Couscous with roasted peppers, tuna and capers for lunch. Pasta puttanesca with green beans tonight, wasn’t spicy enough so need to remember not to deseed the remaining chillis when I use them 🙃

I tend to use vermouth where the recipe calls for white wine and I don't want to open a bottle, I use port for the same reason if the recipe has red wine

work was a little tense today and let's just say my manager knew I was annoyed with him 🙄 and it's only Monday!  At least it was cooler today and I would walk it off lunchtime before saying something I shouldn't on his management skills or lack of  :#

Poached chicken breast with salad for lunch with potato salad.  A nice easy dinner of scrambled egg on toast with mushrooms

I got a Chinese takeaway last night. I really have to stop spending so much money on food!

My cat seems slightly better, she is eating more and we have the vet appointment tomorrow.

I am just on water so far today as I ate late last night. The workman didn't call yesterday so I have to call him back. I have my Tesco delivery later and I need to meal plan for the week.

A cooler day but it's supposed to get very muggy later, so another sleepless night due I guess, although I slept fine last night. Sunny day and I'm hoping it stays in a way because it seems the smoke particles from the Canadian forest fires has now reached us in the upper atmosphere & should give some cracking sunsets

Meals today are nothing special, leftovers and clear-outs before Asda delivery tomorrow
Lunch, BLT, using last of the B & L
Diner, uncooked pork loin portion out defrosting, that grilled with LO nuked mash and frozen mixed veg
Some of my HM apple crumble later

    Good morning everyone,
Rain and more rain here today. It did dry up yesterday evening but don't think there's to be a reprieve today.
My sis and nephew are coming for dinner. It will probably be one of the last Tuesday night get togethers he comes to as he starts a new bar job in Glasgow tomorrow and hopes to move up there once he's found his feet. For the moment it will be a mix of commuting and staying with DS1 & DIL-to-be. We started the Tuesday night dinners during COVID when some limited socialising became allowed and decided to keep them up after things returned to normal. I'm making JO's  Crispy Golden Chicken Jamie Oliver’s Crispy Golden Chicken Is Perfect for a Weeknight Dinner – Tamron Hall Show which we'll have with the avocado sauce, salad a squashed, roasted baby spuds. There's LO salmon for lunch.
