Quiet start to the day although unfortunately a large 'had to be done' job dropped in at 3pm so the boss and I were working until 6pm, not good for a Friday
at least it meant something causing major issues can be deployed tomorrow.
Prawn spinach salad for lunch with the last of the potato salad. Meatball, new potato, tomato and goat cheese tray bake for dinner with wilted spinach followed by some stewed rhubarb and strawberriesLife shrinks or expands in proportion to one's courage - Anais Nin0 -
Good morning everyone,
The weather is supposed to be glorious this afternoon. DS1 and DIL-to-be (and Frank) are pitching up about lunchtime. DS1 is heading to a mates to watch the footie and we are bbqing this evening. Just a simple burgers, bangers and wings one. I made up the burger mix last night so just salads to sort out later.
I had a vey positive chat with the GP, tests indicate that my slightly raised sugars last year was just a blip and there is no sign of diabetes or pre-diabetes. Everything else was as it should be. They had a look at my inflammatory markers and thyroid, all good so seems my ongoing joint pain is just wear and tear mixed with side effects from my meds. I've opted not to start mucking about with those so just need to live with it.
BLT for lunch.2 -
Today I'm very glad I copied Brambling and made a potato salad yesterday, because I have spent all evening, night & morning in A & E. Not for me, just helping out the Ex and it dragged on & on. Turned out OK in the end, thought it could have been cracked ribs from a fall, but wasn'tSo very tired now and reckon I will be fast asleep once I stop & sit down this eveningLunch, the hospital had free sarnies in A & E, I had a cheese one
.
Of course no such thing as a free lunch, I must have paid for everyone lunch in Hampshire with the parking charges, of course it was piece meal, forever thinking we'll get the verdict any time now, but never didDinner, one of the M & S chicken quarters, oven cooked, with the HM potato salad & green salad itemEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens1 -
Overcast and not particularly warm 🙄. Did put one load out but it’s finishing off inside on the airer. Haven’t done much today, couldn’t get motivated.
Curried beans with toast for lunch. Made pork and mushroom stroganoff tonight, served with noodles and green beans. Portion of stroganoff gone in the freezer 😀0 -
I hope you got a nap in Farway, that a long time in A&E
it's been a lovely day here 🌞 although after a bad night sleep my get up and go got up and went this morning 🥱
I dropped some bags off at a charity shop this afternoon and spent a little while walking around town which was full of Morris dancers! I did miss the performances but walked pass the small beer shop (local micro brewery) where three elderly morris dancers were singing, pints in hand and slightly intoxicated 😁 my hip is a little sore tonight having decided I could carry four bags two of which were full of books from the carpark to the CS
lunch was leftover meatball tray bake and spinach. I marinated some salmon in Asian flavours and had a salmon salad for dinner with new potatoes 😋 my sister popped in after dinner for a catch up and we are looking to go away somewhere in the uk if we can agree with dates (she has to be school holidays and I'm working around team holidays) so were deciding where to go, maybe Northumberland

It feels fairly chilly again today. I thought it was meant to be nice weather. I had to wear my tights out yesterday!
I had wholemeal toast with marg and a cup of green tea with lemon. I'm now having a coffee as I need to order some more groceries.0 -
Good morning everyone,
Good you were able to help your ex Farway but that's a long time to spend camped at A&E.
Our promised glorious sunshine didn't appear yesterday instead, very unusually for here, we got thick mist. Go a few miles out of town and it was glorious but hard to see the bottom of the garden here. It was like something out of the "Twilight Zone"! Still no triffids, strange children or zombies seem to have appeared so just a freaky weather spell. We still lit the bbq but ate inside. Hector and Frank were very bemused by the mist.
No mist this morning but wet and chilly. Need to have a bit of a tidy and do something with the three loads damp washing I optimistically hung out yesterday morning. I've defrosted a small piece of lamb shoulder to roast later. We'll have with Jersey Royals, various veg and HM gravy. Bbq LO's for lunch.

Sun has arrived as promised, so I'll do a mini spot of tomato planting after lunch when the sun is warm out the backNot quite recovered from my A & E stint, but sunshine and a comfy chair will helpLunch, more grilled cheese on toast, maybe go posh & put real HP sauce on itDiner, rinse & repeat from yesterday, except the roast chicken quarter is cold today, HM potato salad & salad bitsCompleted my online Asda order for Wednesday delivery, they've run out of Scottish Loch trout fillet, on a twofer, so I've subbed with a whole chicken, not problems with cooking or using LO from one of thoseEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0

It is actually really nice out there now, quite hot! My neighbour is doing his fence and fixing ours for free which is nice. I did offer to pay him!
I just bought some white wine from the shop. I think I might have a salad and something for lunch. I ordered the Tesco delivery for tomorrow. I don't know why it seems to take so long sometimes.
I do need to jet wash the decking, I might do it if I can be bothered... right weather for it.2025 GOALS

Finally, the weather sorted itself out so 3 loads dry on the line 🙌
I’ve also changed the bed, dusted and hoovered upstairs, done some ironing, been for a swim, pottered in the garden and done some food prep - fruit and packed lunches for my office days.
Lunch was a tuna and sweetcorn bagel with salad, red pepper and gherkins. Made this fab CFO dinner https://www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/lamb-steaks-crispy-potatoes-minted-beans - highly recommended 😋1
