The rain has stopped at last, but it's very soggy outside, and getting on to "muggy" now, never satisfiedOH dear, Caron, your drain saga sounds like it's escalating. Hopefully the water co will sort it, hate to tell you but ours finished up with wrangling between insurance companies as to which property was liable for how much cost etc, took ages to sort it between themMeals today are sort of rinse & repeatsLunch, home cooked ham in a sarnieDinner, ham salad, I'll have a rummage to see it there is a spud suitable for baking / jacket nuke, if so will add that inEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0

Good morning everyone,
Yes I'm keeping everyone crossed Farway it doesn't develop into a wrangle. However, one of the issues is that in the lane there are no visible manholes/access chambers which is Scottish Water's problem as apparently there should be for every two or three properties. There may well have been in the past that at some point have been covered over or with the age of the system there's never been any. Either way the drain and feeding chambers need found or inserted. If is it then found to be a problem within my boundary it should be easier to clear from the lane end.
Family gathering was great and I'm clear headed this morning despite a few wines.
Still a fair bit of clearing up to do as I didn't want to overload the drain with dishwater. No sign yet of Scottish Water.
Fran is arriving shortly for his first sleepover at his "Gran's" house, he is apparently a very tired boy after yesterday evening. Needless to say Hector is raring to go!
Plenty of LOs, some will cover lunches and some for the freezer. Roast chicken dinner tonight using thighs instead of a whole chook and the LO baby roasties I cooked yesterday. I'll make some cauli and carrot mash and there's asparagus and tender stem broccoli. After yesterday's rich meal I'm feeling the need for plenty of veg today.1 -
It has turned into a lovely day here, weather wise. I am having a pyjama day today. I wanted to read some financial advice on here and two other forums this morning, but I'm getting a bit tired now. I am now catching up with YouTube videos I missed during the week.
I had a sandwich for breakfast and I'm about to have some fresh fruit, maybe in a smoothie.0 -
Have had a lovely day out, and the weather was fabulous.
We had lunch in the National Trust cafe so jacket spud with tuna. There’s also been cake and an ice cream 😉
Just had a simple broccoli and pesto pasta. Now settled down ready for the coronation concert with a 🍷0 -
Family birthday dinner last night and my nephew made me a lemon drizzle cake 😋 baby was full of beans as usual she's bounced back quicker than the adults
Today I tackled the larger spare bedroom when I moved in I inherited floor to ceiling built in shelves which I use as a excuse not to clear out books, currently the room looks like the shelves exploded books everywhereI've a pile for my sisters, one for a friend, some too old / tatty for CS so need recycling and a large pile to drip feed into the CSs in town
I've also culled by cookery book collection
I did find a 1937 book on George VI coronation which I was given as a child by my gran, I chose it because of it's gold cover
whereas my sister was given the other one which was George Vs which had a purple cover so not as 'glamorous' for a child 🙂
lunch and asthma break (Dusty books) was a tomato and mozzarella salad. I found a lovely rump steak in the freezer for dinner I'm hoping I brought another one when they were on offer in Waitrose and froze it with jersey royals, asparagus and tenderstem broccoliLife shrinks or expands in proportion to one's courage - Anais Nin1 -
Good morning everyone,
Brave you on the cookbook cull Brambling!
Manky weather here today after lovely sunshine yesterday.
Frank has been collected, his sleepover went well but my two young dogs is hard work. I'm shattered even though it was mainly DS2 who done the graft.
Scottish Water appeared yesterday, the good news we know where the blockage is, the bad news is that it is within my boundary and unfortunately under the garage and not a common drain so it's back to Dyno tomorrow to progress.
Quite day planned today, a few chores and bit of admin and then not much else.
LO chicken with salad for lunch. JO's salmon in a bag for dinner with HM sweet potato wedges, tender stem broccoli and asparagus.0 -
Dull but mild with rain on the way for later, the classic end to a Bank HolidayNot going anywhere though, and luckily there is free access for the Coronation on some Family History record sites, so I'm census delving, found previously unknown Royal Marine on a battleship at Portland and some Nottinghamshire miners, including 15-year-old pit pony handler as distant cousinsThanks for drain updates Caron, quite a saga, our nearly final stage was Dyno poking a camera down the pipe and finding it had collapsed, the camera was a bit like the one they poke up or down you
, with a "grabber" on it to get a sample, our sample came back with stones & clay, which confirmed the pipe collapsed theory
Meals, more ham todayLunch, ham & eggs I thinkDiner, another ham salad, I did find a suitable jacket spud so may include thatEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0 -
Grey and drizzly here today, such a change from yesterday. Not desperately motivated and tired after yesterday so have just pottered around - bit of domestics, bit of admin (life and voluntary), swimming, caught up on some telly.
Scrambled eggs and mushrooms on toast for lunch and smoked mackerel pilaf with broccoli tonight.
Back to work tomorrow but from home and it’s another short week, next week is going to be a shock to the system 😂0 -
Cookery books haven't left the house yet Caronc so I'm not patting myself on the back just yet until they are out the door and at the CS 😁
Grey damp day here so ideal for pottering and a little more decluttering, the tidy small bedroom is now full of bags to go to the CS 🙄
Tandoori chicken with salad for lunch. Dinner very similar to yesterday but YS lamb steak with jersey royals, asparagus and tenderstemLife shrinks or expands in proportion to one's courage - Anais Nin0 -
Rain stopped, and now a watery sun is trying hard to come outLunch, the JKS eggs & mushroom sounds good, but I'll go for one pan mushroom omeletteDinner, more of the ham, yep, it was a bigger joint than I expected
. With yet more salad.
