Good morning everyone,
I'm Hector sitting today as DS2 is off to the office. I think we are both needing a quiet day though I've few things on my "to do" including getting back in tough with the drain folk.
LOs for lunch and JO's gingery, black bean mince for dinner.0 -
Nice productive wfh day today, had two biggish tasks to do and they both got done, plus a few emails answered obviously 😉
LO smoked mackerel pilaf for lunch with some bagged salad. Standard Tuesday night beans with toast before swimming.
I’ve also assembled a couple of days worth of packed lunches. I roasted some carrots with cumin and fennel seeds when the oven was on over the last few days, so they have been turned into roast carrot, lentil and goats cheese salad.0 -
A nice non manic work day and not as many emails as expected 🙂 I got in a quick trip to pet store lunchtime to stock up 😾 and use some vouchers definitely getting more painful each visit 🫣 I'm going to have to send him out catch his own if it goes up anymore 🐭 this time last year I paid just over £20 for 96 sachets of his food of choice today it was over £30
just as well I love him! Luckily although he has a litter box but doesn't use it and waits for me to let him out in the morning so no cat litter expense.
A open sandwich when I got back, crab sticks with sweet chilli sauce Mayo, gherkins and capers with salad for lunch. Just a mushroom omelette for dinner with salad and LO. We potatoes chippedLife shrinks or expands in proportion to one's courage - Anais Nin0 -
Hoping to get planting some tomatoes in the conservatory later, but I've been thinking about that for a few days without any progress, so today may be the same, especially as more rain is due which makes drinking tea & sitting down more attractiveLunch, another overnight French loaf ready & cooling in time for lunch sarnie, LO ham + lettuce, or maybe pickleDinner, with the rain on the way I think a nice roast veg tray, with some LO ham, with maybe some frozen cauliflower & green beansEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0

We had our drains at the back of our house checked a few weeks ago and they are clear as he showed me the footage he took. The guy told me that we have a shared pipe with the next door houses so if we ever have a problem our water company should cover the cost. I will have to remember that.
I had an iced coffee and water this morning. It is so nice that the weather has warmed up now. I have my washing drying on the line outside.
I'm trying to read a very long thread on here called How much to Live on, I saw you on that thread Farway.:)
I think I will make some toast or cereal and get reading again.1 -
Good morning everyone,
I read that thread Wednesday, makes for interesting reading.
I'm needing to get my toms and cues potted on too Farway, one for the weekend I think.
Prices are just jumping up everywhere, I don't use a lot of jarred sauces but like the Sharwood black bean one for the gingery mince dish. Used the last jar yesterday which was under £2 full price at the beginning of the year (and bought on offer for less) and it's now £3. Turns what should be a reasonably priced mid week meal into a bit of a treat at that price so will keep an eye out for offers. The drain saga continues, nothing else is going to happen this week but on Monday sonar scanning is being done to try and work out the drain path near the boundary and hopefully locate any old covered traps or chambers as well as establish for definite that it's not a shared system with my neighbours. Thankfully it's not completely blocked so as long as I'm canny re kitchen water usage it's not backing up/flooding too much. We had hoped to start the new deck work this weekend but that's now on hold until this is resolved.
Cheese salad for lunch and tonight I'm trying a Creamy Cajun chicken recipe as I have crème fraiche to use up.0 -
Two long meetings today but productive ones.
Lunchbox of the carrot, lentil and goats cheese salad in the gap, whilst clearing a couple of emails.
Bit of chopping up veg when I got in but was pretty much straight back out to have a swim. The chopping meant I could throw together a quick prawn, cashew, broccoli and red pepper egg fried rice when I got back.0 -
I hope the bad thunder storms avoided you Farway? Looking at the weather map on the bbc it seemed to be either side of us so just a little rain earlier
Popped out tonight and came home via my sisters to drop off some books and got in some baby cuddles as she was babysittingI was given a book to read until her uncle walked in from the kitchen and then it was taken away and given to him and he wasn't allowed to give it back 🙂 she thinks he hung the moon and it's lovely to see
she had loads of tests yesterday with the consultant at Southampton, I'm not sure if they are any the wiser on what is causing her issues at least he was honest and said he couldn't see anything obvious, he wants her to be tested for CF but did say he didn't think it was that but he has to make sure
Easy lunch of beans on toast and a quick dinner of pasta and pesto for dinner when I came in this evening

Good afternoon everyone,
The morning has disappeared on me though I've been reasonably productive. It's our annual finance review meeting for the out of school club this evening so had a long chat with chair person earlier. I'm hoping all my recent number crunching pays off. It's online so thankfully don't need to go anywhere as my balance isn't great at the moment. Tesco order has been finalised and I've managed to strip my bed. Feet up and my kindle this afternoon is the plan.
LOs for lunch and spag bol using ragu from the freezer for dinner.0 -
Sunny morning, which was handy because I had to collect my new specs in town. Followed by a YS mooch around Marks, they appear to have run out of bog-standard tomatoes, loads of vine etc, no red & round ones, so I'm doing without for now. However, I have only a couple of months to wait before I can pick my own
.
Lots of YS in Marks, I chose some MFO mild Curry ones, and a Fish & Chips. Then some YS apple & cream turnovers tumbled into my trolley as well, so I'm all set for a few days.Brambling said:I hope the bad thunder storms avoided you Farway?
