That always seems to happen Farway with lots of things needing batteries or breaking all at once.
I had a toasted crumpet with smooth PB and a cup of coffee. I'm trying to take my thyroid medication earlier so I can have my coffee. I usually wake up about 5 so I'm taking it then and then going back to sleep.
I am making a batch lot of pasta later. It feels much milder here and I have aired out the house with the windows open. I'm waiting for some books to be delivered from Amazon as I don't have any days or nights out planned so I thought I would read.
I want to go to a local charity shop on Monday as they had a few good books there last time for only 10p each.0 -
Wet start with rain, but it's now brightening up so may get a spot of gardening doneBut first I have DIY stuff, my light & batteries are on the way, due today, so bathroom light is the priority once the tube arrivesIn the meantime I'm sorting out my online groceries, may go with W8rose this time, I'm anybodies for 50p off loo roll and bacon, plus chutney offer and I need to sort out olive oil where they have a wider choiceMeals,Defrosting a couple ex Christmas sausage rolls for lunch + brown sauceDinner, last of the gammon, grilled. Not too bad, so I'd buy that again. I have some not quite large enough spuds for bakers, but may just chip them, and have with salad bitsEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0

I see Waitrose gammon are on offer again Farway however I fear they are still expensive
another grey and drizzling day here, I didn't need anything in town so other than a trip to Waitrose for a few bits at 7pm it's been a pottering day in doors. Having reduced my HM RMs down to 9 in the freezer I was determined not to buy anything YS today as it's not needed and I want a little wiggle room in the freezer in case SMs do half price lamb at Easter (one can only hope). I didn't need cat food but was shocked at some of the prices now, the biscuits he likes were often on offer two for £8 in there now they are £8+ each and that was on offer. Luckily I stocked up in the pet store a while ago when I had vouchers but I've just opened the last bag so im keeping a eye out for offers
lunch was a sausage sandwich and lasagna from the freezer for dinner

Hope the lovely sunshine & blue sky I have here stretches over the border Brambling, ideal day for getting out & aboutI'm getting into all sorts today, top of which is grandson's birthday party, mind you he's sixteen now so will be posher crisps, less jelly, and maybe a stripper
?
He's already in trouble with his exam results being less than favourable since he bought a PC with his saved money, too much Fortnite & not enough boffin up.Following in his male cousin's footsteps, which is what has DS is worried because the cousin failed his A-levels for the same reasonBrambling said:I see Waitrose gammon are on offer again Farway however I fear they are still expensiveThat said, I've just submitted my Asda list for Wednesday and may use W8rose the following week while the offer is still onToday's food is mainly party stuff, whatever turns up and once I'm back home for the evening I'll see what I fancy, plenty in to choose from, even a pizza in the freezerEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0 -
I had a toastie and a cup of coffee for breakfast. I had to order more shopping as we were running out of cat litter again! Tesco is so reasonable in price for cat litter. My cat is being very fussy with her food so I had to get her this gourmet food she likes at the moment. She had blood tests done the other day, but everything seemed fine. She is quite old though so I will spoil her.
I am going to go for a walk and then start my new book. It is by Dilly from the TV show Sort Your Life out. She is the very organised one. Saying that, I need to reorganise my freezer later ready for the Tesco delivery. I am going to try and use bits up so I might have a weird lunch and dinner today.2025 GOALS

Good morning everyone,
AWOL yesterday -the day just ran away with me.
If it's any consolation Farway, DS1 did poorly with his Highers in 5th year for similar reasons, knuckled down in 6th to repeat. Headed to uni, hated it, cheffed for a few years then went back to uni and then did Masters. They all find their own path in their own way in their own time.
Yesterday's family brunch/ getting the pooches together went really well. My sister's pooch was less enamoured with Frank but tolerated him and after a bit of play took himself out of the way. Hector and Frank just played and played, zooming round the garden in the rain. Hector was surprisingly gentle with Frank. Poor Frank was shattered afterwards. He slept all the way home, woke briefly then slept again until mid-evening before sleeping pretty much right through the night for the first time. He was back to being full of beans this morning when DS2 video called me.
Received a gorgeous basket of spring plants from the boys for Mothering Sunday.
Plan to do a bit of food prep this afternoon, I'm back to physio tomorrow so know I'll probably be sore for a couple of days afterwards. Soup is on the cards - cream of leek, pea and potato as I have leeks and whole milk needing used up and there's loads of peas in the freezer.
I have two lovely FR pork chops defrosting for dinner, we'll have them with baby spuds, carrots, asparagus and HM Diane sauce.

Also AWOL yesterday (out yesterday evening) but not much to report on the CFO front. Filled pasta with tuna, sweetcorn and sun dried tomatoes for lunch. Out to eat before the cinema last night, was lovely 😋
Lovely day today so an outside job I have been putting off for ages got done, and two loads of washing dried on the line. I’ve also changed the bed, washed floors and dusted and hoovered 😇
Scrambled eggs and mushrooms on toast for lunch. Made Nigella’s Spanish chicken tonight, served with green beans. Cooked extra chicken thighs which will appear in future meals…0 -

I hope the birthday celebrations went well
I can't blame your sister's dog for looking for a peaceful spot Caronc two puppies must be a handful for him
I had hoped for a lie in this morning as I haven't been sleeping well this week but a neighbour over the road started loud building work before 8am 😡 I'm assuming they were making the most of a dry day before it breaks again but I wasn't amused especially as it woke his lordship as well who then wanted breakfast and a open catflap. They are extending the property 🙄
lunch was a couple of crumpets with cheese. Dinner a very small YS beef joint from the freezer which I air fried as it didn't seem worth putting the oven on for with root veg mash from freezer, cabbage and purple sprouting.I cooked a turkey drumstick to make stock in the pressure cooker and will skim off any fat tomorrow for soup to cover lunchesLife shrinks or expands in proportion to one's courage - Anais Nin0 -
I remember when we adopted our two dogs, one was a year old and one was a puppy and you had to watch them almost constantly. I remember going downstairs and getting distracted and coming back into the bedroom and they had ripped all the pillows on the bed to pieces! It was carnage. The older dog looked guilty and the puppy looked like she had had the time of her life.

Back to dull weather, and for the rest of the week it seems.Yesterday's gathering went well, and big surprise, SIL's sister bought along beef & ham slices, plus real meat sausage rolls & mini bangers for fellow omnivores
. Us omnivores ate well, the veggies had slimmer pickings
I didn't need any more feeding once I was back home, just settled down to Gardeners World on iplayer. But before I settled, I put the makings of a loaf into the Panny for this morning, that turned out fine & now back to fresh breadLunch, I have a bit of uncooked gammon slice so may just grill that & put it into a lunchtime GLT sarnieDiner, if all goes well I'm going to try out frozen, made for microwave heating, Pukka steak pie, with HM mash, cabbage, carrots & Bisto gravy. Mixed reviews, but I'll make up my own mind.I'm a bit dubious about the MW heating of a pie, but worth a try, certainly not having the oven on for ages just to heat up a small RM pie, which I guess is why MW heated pies are now available. Proof of course will be in the eating
