My camellia is out in flower so I'm hoping for no more frost it's in the shelter of the house so should be ok. There is a nip in the air again and there was a sudden very quick shower which caught me lunch time and stopped as soon as I got in the car 🙄
I went into town today to get some odds and sods from Wilko, savers, £1 shop and wandered around the market where I picked up some eggs.Cheese and coleslaw sandwich for lunch. I tried a new recipe for dinner Nadiya's chicken and grapefruit with rice and broccoli. She calls it stew but it is a mild curry there are leftovers of courseLife shrinks or expands in proportion to one's courage - Anais Nin0 -
Nice & sunny morning, could be Spring, again! My daffs are really cracking on now and looking very cheerful in the sunshine, my neighbour's camellia is in bud so behind yours Brambling, I've always liked them, but they are so frost proneI have my daughter & hubby dropping by around lunchtime, visiting his mum first then it's me on their way home, so not sure about my lunch, maybe some toast when they've gone?caronc said:
You could add a tin of baked beans to reduce the heat Farway and freeze the extra portions.

We succumbed to a Chinese takeaway last night which tasted nice at the time, but my stomach was a little off this morning. That will teach me.
I just had a banana and two rolls with marg.
I have got a pastie in the freezer and I was going to do it in the AF and have it with steamed carrots and broccoli.0 -
Good morning everyone,
Good call Farway, baked beans are my "go to" for too spicy things, blended if need be if whole ones don't fit with the dish. I can't remember where I got the tip but it's a good one.
I'm making the most of a peaceful couple of hours.DS2 is out with Hector and my sister has collected Ari.
Chilly but bright today. Kitchen pottering this afternoon, I want to make a batch of ragu and stuff a piece of pork loin with haggis along with the usual veg prep. The sunshine is showing how many paw prints there are on cupboard doors so might give them a wipe down. I really know how to live it up!
LO chicken wings for lunch and stuffed pork loin with roast root veg, broccoli and peppercorn sauce for dinner.

I made a curry instead for lunch with carrots, broccoli, onion and sweetcorn. I wouldn't normally put sweetcorn in a curry, but I have a big bag of corn in the freezer. I did try to make a salad with lemon juice to go with it, but both my cucumber and my cherry toms were on the turn. It seems like the quality of veg is much worse the last few months and I seem to be throwing away more veggies than I would want to! I know some people have said there are shortages of salad bits in supermarkets at the moment.
The quality of fresh fruit seems fine though which is annoying as I keep fruit out in the fruit bowl and the veggies in the fridge so you would think they would last better being chilled!2025 GOALS

Been a lovely bright and sunny day here but still cold! Got a load of towels dry on the line so I’m happy 😊
I’ve also changed the bed, done the few bits of ironing, been for a swim and made spiced parsnip soup.
Scrambled eggs and mushrooms on toast for lunch and Chinese chicken traybake with rice and sesame and soy stir fried cabbage tonight.

Second attempt to post tonight, his lordship stepped on my tablet and the screen went blank just before I clicked on the post button 🙀 he realised I had got the heated throw out and came to share 🙄. Temperature has dropped, it was bitterly cold today and being windy didn't help, lunchtime I walked into town from my sister's and got caught in a hail storm 🥶
My trip into town was to watch a onscreen showing of Othello, it was very good although I'm not sure about tragedies on a Sunday afternoon 🤨 and it was 3 hours! I stopped in on my sister for a cuppa when I collected my car.Lunch was cheese and crackers before I went out. Dinner was another new recipe Ginger beer pork with noodles and veg, the jury is still out on whether I will make again, there are LOs so with last nights LO chicken I will only need to cook veg Monday and Tuesday 😋Life shrinks or expands in proportion to one's courage - Anais Nin0 -
Frosty, bright & sunny start to the day, looks nice out of a window, but very cold if out in itCaron, reporting back on baked beans in the chilli, worked a treat and I now have some LO for another meal.A bit of a restless night, had cramp in my legs which just wouldn't go away, needless to say fell asleep and woke up later than usual, so now I'm out of sync with my day. The highlight of which will be change my beddingMeals, lunch, probably toast & something on it, scrambled eggs?Dinner, cold LO roast chicken + HM AF chips pus salad bitsFunny how a taste can bring back memories. I opened a jar of Asda posh raspberry jam yesterday, one taste & I was back in the 1950s in my nan's kitchen scullery during summer holidays.Years since I had raspberry jam & this jar is just as I'd hoped, I was spared the pigeon plucking this time roundEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0

I felt very cold and it was frosty outside when I woke up as my husband left for work at 6. I had the heating on for a couple of hours as I had a shower and washed my hair and did some laundry to dry on the radiators, but it feels much warmer now. There is lovely bright sunshine outside.
I had a roll with marg and marmalade earlier this morning with a coffee and I was tidying and decluttering for a while and I had a packet of crisps and a herbal tea just now.
I am going to have more curry for lunch. I wish I had just done a big batch yesterday so I had leftovers today. I might make a lentil dal too. I feel quite hungry considering it isn't even 10.30 yet.2025 GOALS

Good morning everyone,
Glad you the beans did the trick Farway.
Really cold here this morning and overcast, can't see the frost lifting much as it's still only 1C out.
More belt tightening come April on fuel, I know it's expected but a £900 increase on a £2100 average bill is horrible hike especially for folk who are already struggling.
Off the physio at lunch time for my usual battering. One area has become very stiff and tight again so looking forward (I think!) to being zapped. I can't remember the name of the gizmo he uses but it's like a cross between a TENS machine and a taser!
LO pork for lunch and JO's salmon in a bag for dinner.0
