  • Just a day, really - long but productive meeting this morning and the tedious task finished this afternoon.

Avocado and scrambled eggs on toast for lunch. Quick and easy prawn and broccoli sweet chilli noodles after swimming tonight. Just watched first episode of Better - it’s got promise…

Work got busy again today and it was gone 6 when we finished no thanks to out IT developers 😡

Today wasn't as warm as yesterday but was dry until about 8pm

Farway it was Wednesday who went to 'Spoons 🙂 the one in town is full of bearly legal age drinkers and like many I remember the half a mouse served in someone's salad a few years back 🤢 blamed on bags of salad.  I've had a good burger and chips in one in Dorset but after a 12 mile walk anything tastes good 😁

Soup again for lunch 🙂 Dinner was pizza and salad, I keep the little tomato and cheese pizza fresh from  Sainsburys in the freezer I think they are about 48p now and add veg

Rain this morning, not proper stuff, just wet and dull, which was expected & I had planned a slow cooker meal, but forgot to take the diced beef out to defrost :s , so not today. It's out now BTW, ready for tomorrow

Oops, sorry for mix up both :'(

Lunch, use up the YS bacon from Home Bargains, in a bacon butty + brown sauce

Dinner, with cunning slow cooker meal on hold for a day, see above, I've had a rummage and found a tin of Princes chilli con carne, a tad beyond BBE date [2019], so I'll open that, and I now have a rice cooker, never had one before, was on offer at Asda so took the plunge and bought some rice as well
Tonight will be its maiden voyage, which could also be its last depending on results

  • Ew, a mouse!

I don't think it was a Wetherspoons pub actually as I googled it.Leigh's Mariners Court Pub unveils new look after revamp | Echo The food was nice there so I will go back.

On a related note, I stepped on the scales this morning and I need to start eating more healthily as I have been eating out and getting takeaways too much again!

I have just had green tea and clementines and I was going to make something healthy for my proper breakfast. Not sure what yet.

    Good morning everyone,
Glad your back has eased Farway. I'm a rice cooker fan after DS2 bought the mini one from Lakeland, perfect for CFO or two. I had a large one before which was great for a family but didn't make a great job of smaller amounts so I was always freezing portions. Hope you like yours
Another damp and drizzly one here with gales forecast from this evening.
Sis and nephew are coming for dinner, we've swapped from Tuesdays to Thursdays as she joined a choir on Tuesday nights. By request I'm making a beef and aubergine keema curry. Started it off yesterday so will finish it in the slow cooker today.
  • Long office day but lots of productive catch ups and a couple of good meetings. Glad I’ve got a catch up WFH day tomorrow though.

More magic soup with a cheese-topped bread roll for lunch. Lamb steak, harissa and pomegranate couscous, and chargrilled courgettes with feta tonight 😋. LO couscous and courgettes for lunch tomorrow.

I don't need any more kitchen gadgets but I will admit the thought of a small rice cooker appeals but no room 🙂 I won a waffle maker in a raffle before Christmas which I used once just to see but will have to rehome, I can live without waffles I prefer pancakes and it's a family size (makes four) I prefer to take up space with something I'll use

I've had continuous tinnitus since last Wednesday evening when I woke from a nap with it and last night and today it's been particularly loud, lack of sleep with it left me with a headache and I think being tired has made it worst today 😐 so I've been feeling sorry for myself!

lunch was also magic soup, snap JKS 🙂 although I didn't have the bread roll.  Dinner chicken and mango curry, recipe given by a friend who raves about it but I wasn't that keen, maybe it was my cooking 🤔

Grey & dull weather, but I'm in all day so not a problem

Bit of a tale with the new rice cooker. I put the rice on about an hour before I thought I needed it, as you probably all know, except me, there is not a set time, works out cooking time by magic, [actually it's magnetism, who would have thought it?]

Then realised I'd not rinsed rice clean, so had to rinse that out and start again.
By the time that was sorted, my tum began rumbling, and it all finished up with toilet trips & no more need be said about that episode :(
Which then left me deciding that perhaps a Chilli con Carne was not a very good idea for a meal. :o
The rice finished up cooked of course, so, left on warm & I eventually had half a small bowl just to taste & try it out, it was fine with a splash of soy sauce. The rest went in the bin this morning, with the tin of chilli unopened to fight again another day

As I was eating the rice, I'm thinking it would be fine used as a pud, adding honey or school dinner red jam once cooked? Maybe evaporated milk as well?

After a very good night's sleep, I'm feeling fine this morning and none the wiser what may have triggered my tum yesterday, the only likely culprit was the YS bacon but seemed fine when I cooked it, anyway it's all gone now and back to normal

Pre-planning I had taken diced beef out defrosting overnight ready for today slow cooker, good dull weather for it as well
I'm trying a slow cooker packet sauce Korma, may not be wise after yesterday, but I think I'll be OK

Smells nice even now, I have some RM Naan bread to go with it come dinner time

Lunch, mushroom omelette, easy & hopefully salmonella free >:)
Dinner, beef korma curry, sort of

  • I hope you feel better soon Brambling. My husband suffers with tinnitus. Hope you feel okay today too Farway!

I have had mango and water, but my stomach is growling. I don't have any bread so I have to think what else to have for breakfast.

I made a nice lunch yesterday. Roasted carrots with half a tin of chickpeas stir fried in olive oil and half a packet of Tilda peri-peri rice.

    Good morning everyone,
Must be the weather Brambling as my tinnitus is been loud for the past 24 hours and the sudden weather pressure changes have upset my balance so I'm a bit unsteady this morning hopefully it will settle as the day goes on! Feel like "Zoolander" as can only turn in certain directions lol! It's the Lakeland cooker DS2 bought, it takes up very little space Lakeland 2 Portion Mini Electric Rice Cooker | Lakeland .
    Glad tum has settled Farway.
Very wet and windy overnight but calmer now. The sun is even trying, though not very hard, to peek through.
Tesco due soon - no subs or unavailable items but the veg options available to order were very sparse.
LO keema curry for lunch and usual Friday tbc for dinner.
