    Good morning everyone.

Our turn to get a battering! It's pretty manky just now but supposed to get much worse tonight. Between the storms and the clocks changing it feels as though Winter has arrived. I'm hoping it has eased a bit tomorrow as DS1, DIL & DGD are due to fly back from Belgium tomorrow. 🤞

Defrosted a tub of pea & ham soup yesterday so lunch will be the second half of that. Trying these tonight Chicken Teriyaki Burgers with Sesame Slaw Recipe - Pinch of Yum for the slaw I've cheated and bought a coleslaw mix. I'll swap the mayo sachet for the dressing in the recipe. We'll have the burgers and slaw with salad and AF chips.

The wind is starting to pick up now so I’ve looked out batteries for the radio and am charging up the puck lights so that I can still read my book if the power goes out.

Lunch was a cheese and pickle salad.

I’m doing burgers here too, I defrosted some pork mince overnight and added herbs, spices and some grated apple this morning all ready to cook later.

Very calm before the storm when I went out food shopping this morning but grey and damp. Heavy rain and wind started early afternoon but have been on the sofa with Strictly this evening 😀

Scrambled eggs and mushrooms on toasted bagel for lunch. Tuna steak with harissa braised chickpeas and broccoli tonight. I felt it would have been better with a longer cooking of the tomatoes and chickpeas but made a nice, quick dinner.

I had my flu jab at 9am before going to Petworth at least it waited until I was in the shop before raining! And it stayed all day when I left at 4pm I was happy to catch the buggy as really wet and windy. Not a great drive home, lots of water on the road, but at least the expected flood area hadn't succumbed.

I turned my heating on for the first time tonight for a hour, then remembered I had put a tee shirt on this morning for my jab and because the bookshop is too hot for me, I added a other layer and turned it off. However the winter duvet may come out tomorrow or a blanket!

    Prawn pasta salad for lunch.

I picked up in a Ocardo flash sale some Icelandic red fish which I took out the freezer this morning, dinner was fish, wilted spinach, asparagus and new potatoes with a herby, caper type sauce

Back to sunshine here, with a stiff breeze. Hope DS & co have a not too bumpy flight Caron.

Only damage around here as far as I can see is a fence panel down in next door's garden

However the winter duvet may come out tomorrow or a blanket! Mine's out & on the bed already 😁

Lunch, fancied a change, so ploughmans' with bits of salad

Dinner, freezer clearance continues, frozen pizza tonight, plus last f my HM apple crumble

It’s a lovely sunny morning here too but there is still a bit o’ a blaw. There’s heavy rain forecast for the rest of the day so I’m cozying up on the sofa with my book and I’ll maybe get on the iplayer and catch up on the traitors later.

Comfort food is definitely on the menu with soup from the freezer for lunch and macaroni cheese for dinner tonight.

    Good morning everyone,

The storm is still raging here but a little less fierce than it was overnight, my sis has just sent us photos of the seafront and there's been a fair bit of damage to walls and structures and quite a bit of flooding. Flooding wise we not been as badly hit as further up the coast. DS1's flight is supposed to be going ahead, time will tell. Apart from greenhouse panes we appear unscathed so far. I've no plans to go anywhere so will cosy up and work on our next 5 week meal plan which starts next Friday. I'll be focussing on use up to try and create space for festive goodies and offers.

The teriyaki burgers were really good though very soft. I thought they might be so popped them in the freezer for a bit an oven cooked rather than fried them. A definite keeper. The mix make 4 generous burgers so plenty for another meal. Lunch is tbc possibly a crumpet with scrambled eggs and mushrooms or a bagel with bacon and mushrooms. I've a tub of Hugh F-W's carrot and cashew nut curry defrosting which I'll turn into soup. I'll make some croutons and AF carrot "chips" to have with it.

glad to hear you survived your named storm, no rain today but still quite windy.

I dragged my sister around our local furniture store looking at sofas this afternoon, I've turned Into goldie locks! Too soft, too hard, back to low etc definitely a sign of getting older my comfort levels have changed 👵 one I liked only available in one colour in the sale which wouldn't match new paint colour 🙄 I found a sofa and chair I like with a good selection of colours in the sale but need to go back with a paint sample to confirm my choice. If I order this week they promise by Christmas TBH I'm not bothered if it is but would like to order from the helpful sales guy who knew when to leave us just to wander but appear as by magic when needed. Typically my choice is not any of the cheapest options 💰 💰💰

    Soup for lunch.

I fed my sister roast lamb using a half price Sainsbury's half leg, very tasty but it did shrink a lot. We're both trying to be good so no pudding.

Still on use up & clearing spaces with food, but have to amend my Asda order, run out of porridge. Hope all the stock up folks have not cleared the shelves of it.

    Lunch. LO cold pizza

Dinner, defrosting a YS sweet & sour Mark's MFO stab & ping
