There may have been a small G&T taken here JKS 😁 work didn't get any better than the rest of the week today, no quiet Friday here 🙄 the whilst shutting the fridge door tonight a full jar of fine breadcrumbs fell off and smashed  :s glass and crumbs everywhere, I forgot that I can't put stuff on top of the new fridge freezer as it's not level 🙄 I forgot when I decantered the crumb in to it's jar last night and put it where it used to live.

Tomato and sweet potato soup for lunch with a couple of pikelets I picked up a pack YS yesterday.  And after washing the kitchen floor dinner was miso aubergine with roasted courgette and asparagus and soba noodles.

A very grey start to the day, but at least my appetite seems to be back, enjoyed my steak, chips etc last night

I'm compiling my shopping list, but with running freezer stocks down I'm finding it hard to get to minimum order level, I may go with W8rose this time, gammon joint on offer plus loo roll member voucher, still short of minimum though :(
I could bung a tin of Heinz tom soup on, that would shoot the overall cost up :o

Hope your tin of soup tasted as nice as remembered Caron, I've started using Asda essentials veg soup, now & then, I found the tom one a bit watery and tasteless, but at 30p a tin it's hardly surprising
I tried Tiptree tom ketchup this week, on offer, wish I hadn't, it's lovely but eye watering normal price

Taken a smoked haddock fillet out to defrost for dinner, fancying it poached  / nuked, with mash and the remainder of the baked beans
I found a couple of lumps of LO bread pud in the freezer, so they are out defrosting as well
Lunch, something on toast, may go for scrambled eggs & sautéed mushrooms, sounds warming on this grey day

  • Glad you got your appetite back a bit.

I slept so long yesterday and missed dinner so I was hungry when I woke up. I had a toastie, crisps, two oranges and a cup of coffee. I have a cocoa Trek bar to have with another coffee.

    Good morning everyone,
Yes really enjoyed the soup Farway - Tesco own brand 60p. Glad your appetite has returned.
Slow start to the day, my back and hip started grumbling yesterday evening and I had an uncomfortable night. Very stiff this morning but up, showered and feeling more like it now.
DS2 is off out this afternoon to meet DS1 and my nephew for a meal and a few drinks. I'm Hector sitting so will see what the day brings.
I made a chicken & veg traybake thingy yesterday and cooked extra chicken which will form the basis of my CFO dinner this evening. Scotch egg and salad for lunch.
  • Nice, lazy day today. Got some bedding dried on the line, meal planned and did a small grocery shop plus a trip to Savers for loo rolls and Card Factory to sort a few upcoming birthdays, and that’s about it 🙃

Had smoked mackerel pate and toast with cherry tomatoes for lunch. Prawn, cabbage and red pepper stir fry with rice tonight.

I popped out to M&S this afternoon as their washing gel / pods are one of the very few which don't make me wheeze 🙄

I cooked a small gammon of theirs this morning in the pressure cooker brought for Christmas and froze when I didn't feel like it :) and got washing etc done this morning.

lunch was some of the gammon in a PB baguette with HM coleslaw and salad. I used the last of the tofu for dinner with some curry sauce from the freezer, rice and LO broccoli

Frosty but sunny start, supposed to be with us for a few days so may be able to do a spot more gardening

JKS, thanks for the mention of smoked mackerel pate, reminded me to get mine out to defrost for lunch :o , not sure if it'll be ready by then but fingers crossed. It'll be a fish finger sarnie if not
I've also taken a salmon fillet out for dinner, turning into a fishy weekend with yesterday's smoked haddock

Finalised the online grocery, decided on W8rose this time, using the loyalty money off vouchers for milk & loo rolls, ring any bells there Brambling ;) ? Just realised I've forgotten spuds, but still time to amend
I've already added crumpets because I had a sudden craving, and a pot of posh jam to assist them down my gullet

Lunch, if defrosted in time, smoked mackerel pate, toast etc
Dinner, salmon fillet fried in EVO & butter, with maybe LO nuked mash or frozen baked spud, plus salad

    Good morning everyone,
Frosty and bright here this morning.
Ended up not being CFO last night after DS2 had a change of plans so we'll have the LO chicken from Friday in wraps for lunch.
Kitchen pottering today, I want to make soup (pea and bacon) and DS2 has requested Yorkshire Puddings, apparently it's British Yorkshire Pudding Day! Roast lamb, HM YPs, roast spuds/carrots/parsnips, broccoli and gravy.
  • Another pottering day really. Has been sunny if a little chilly but got a load of towels mostly dry on the line 🙃

I’ve also swum, made nana’s magic soup (which reminds me a bit of Heinz tinned tomato soup, caronc) and done the few bits of ironing that were kicking around - mostly pillow cases.

One of my standard lunches today - scrambled eggs and mushrooms on toast. End of the swede turned into mash with a carrot tonight, to have with the last portion of pork in cider from the freezer, and the end of the cabbage - do like to use things up 😀

I agree about nanas magic soup JKS it reminds me of Heinz tomato soup, it was what we were given as children when we were ill however last year when I brought a tin for the first time in years I found it too 'tinny' I think that's because I'm use to homemade now

i drove the car out to give it a run and enjoyed the sunshine although the temper has dropped this evening

lunch was gammon and coleslaw in a PB baguette.  I made a chicken, chorizo and fennel tray bake, tweaking a recipe I found for Spanish chicken, and had it with new potatoes, runner beans and tenderstem broccoli.  There are LOs and I'll have to make a note of the tweaks as it is very nice 😋
