  • dinners have been Jack Monroe’s peach and chickpea curry
I ate out this week at a local cafe and I was saying that I think it is strange that chickpeas go with something sweet as two people I was with ordered the chickpea salad with their jacket potatoes which had dates and apricots in it. I did taste a bit and it was quite nice, though!

  • I have eaten out so much this week as we have had workmen here. I am planning on doing some batch cooking next week.

I am about to make myself a toastie for brunch.:)

    Good afternoon everyone,
Lazy day so far, didn't surface until nearly 10 and I'm not long showered and dressed. Sometimes it's nice to be purposefully slothful. We've gales coming in and it's already quite windy so a good day for hunkering down and doing a lot of not very much though will do some food prep this afternoon. Bacon and egg for brunch. Haggis stuffed pork loin, mashed swede, tenderstem broccoli, roasties and peppercorn sauce for us tonight.

It's been drizzling here most of the day but at least it was warmer

I went out to watch a National Theatre live showing of The Crucible this afternoon, it was long but good :)

too much talk of cheese on toast on here so that was lunch with some piccalilli.  Dinner was cottage pie, I made the base yesterday and took mash potato and root veg mash out of the freezer to top it so all I needed to do was pop it in the oven and cook a corn on the cob and some kale

  • I woke up hungry today and so I had a tin of tomato soup with two toasted pitta bread and marg. I went out to the shop this morning as I needed some kitchen roll. I am getting a delivery this morning which I almost forgot about, but I remembered and rushed back in case they got here at 9. They haven't turned up yet.

The workmen turned up today instead of tomorrow when they were booked in for Tuesday. It doesn't really bother me as long as they get it done sooner. The painter didn't turn up today as he is ill. I really cannot wait until my house feels back to normal. I don't know how people live with building work being done as it has only been a week and I'm getting irritated already!

I am snuggling on the sofa with a blanket and a cup of hot chocolate at the moment. It didn't feel as cold as it had been at the weekend. but I get chilly if I'm sitting around.

    Good morning everyone,
Better day today after a wild one yesterday, more gales on the way though. I'm off to the physio at lunch time then have a couple of errands to run, hope it stays dry as I've been soaked on my previous two visits.
I'm not expecting to feel like doing much when I come back so prepped tonight's curry yesterday, just need to finish it and cook some rice later.

Mixed sunshine and clouds, warm though, so I hope to get out in the garden a do a bit, not much, just "a bit"
Plus I have bedding to sort out, a comparatively busy day

Message from DD. she has Covid now :o , obviously caught it from her hubby. Still functional, but not ace. The folks they went out to the pub with last week are also down with it, very contagious it seems

Better news is one of her daughters, my granddaughter, has been chosen to be in charge of the plant design team for the Sparsholt College RHS Chelsea display this year, directly involved in the design & planting.
Has to spend Chelsea week in London building, planting up and then "manning" the display, so no doubt she'll see plenty whilst there, including lots of Famous Faces. An experience to be remembered, I would think
Unfortunately won't see me, my mobility and general health means I really can't go and walk about in crowds for hours :'( , confine myself to watching on TV

    Back to today & food
    Lunch, cheese toastie
Dinner, last of the LO beef stew, nuked
Eight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens
  • Missing yesterday as was CF3 last night - honey and mustard chicken thighs, roast potatoes, swede and carrot mash, cabbage. Oh, and some 🍷

Had done some more domestic duties during the day (in light of having visitors 😉) so house is all lovely and clean. Lunch was scrambled eggs and mushrooms on toast (I did enjoy my cheese on toast the other day but don’t want to start eating it too often).

Much milder here today and a beautiful sunny day, was annoyingly in the office so no hanging washing out (🤞it’s nice again tomorrow). Had spicy butternut squash soup and toasted pitta for lunch. Just had chicken and chorizo jambalaya with broccoli.

Well done to your granddaughter, Farway - what a fabulous opportunity, make sure everyone takes lots of pictures for you!
  • @Farway that’s lovely news! I am within about 20 miles of Sparsholt so that jumped out at me

batch cook Sunday yesterday so I’m eating HM soup for lunch this week, and chana masala with red lentil dal and sag paneer for a few dinners. Breakfast is pretty much always yoghurt and fruit, with an occasional banana oatcake wild card!

Your granddaughter is doing well Farway 🙂 it will look good on her cv

Typical Monday workwise with the usual weekend backlog of emails 🙄 lazy evening spent catching up with Vera and Silent Witness

lunch was a portion of tomato and sweet potato soup from the freezer. I breaded some turkey strips with some chilli breadcrumbs and made a vegetable slaw with a yoghurt and peanut butter dressing and cooked some AF wedges using a jacket potato from the freezer
