  • It it is Friday for you, Brambling! Enjoy your long weekend 🙃

Another manic day, sorted all sorts of stupid crises out in between numerous meetings. I swear everyone has lost their minds since Christmas…

Yummy celery and Stilton soup for lunch. Tuna steak, gingery sweet potato mash and stir fried veg for tea.

In bed with tea, a hwb and my book 😊

Sunny day after grey start, of course because I have a slow cooker beef thingy on the go right now, probably be hot beating sun later

DD tells me hubby has Covid again, tested +ve this morning :( . However, he is a GP so must see infected patients on a daily basis, he is one of those that you can get to see
I have a bit of a cough, so maybe it's creeping along the coast? Watch out Brambling

Made a loaf overnight in Panny, it's cooling for lunch right now
Lunch, probably salad sarnie, fresh bread and oozing salad cream
Dinner, as mentioned, slow cooker beef whatsit, this time I used an Asda beef & ale mix, only 30p, just to see if it adds anything to my normal stew thing

I was going to have chilli con carne, but the mince mountain I kept finding in my freezer has been stolen and only the diced beef left behind ;)

With the sun I may just potter in the garden later, empty the tea leaf slops bucket at least

    Good morning everyone,
I rather like chilli made with diced rather minced beef
Frosty here again today but grey and raw so feels colder than yesterday even though it isn't.
Admin didn't take as long as I thought it would yesterday so tackle some housework. Wish I hadn't as my back spasmed again! I suppose at least I know what sort of movements are flaring it up. I'm back to physio on Monday.
Tesco due soon, no subs or unavailable items, then I will see what the day brings.
Fish sticks and salad for lunch. Dinner is tbc.
  • Nice, steady wfh day - got loads done, particularly in the first couple of hours of the day (whilst still in my PJs 😉). Finished on time and got off to do a small food shop - felt very virtuous as I walked rather than drove.

Lunch was smoked mackerel pate, toast and cherry tomatoes. Creamy mushroom and Stilton pasta tonight with green beans and broccoli. Used up the end of a punnet of mushrooms and tub of creme fraiche but not all the Stilton…

Please keep it your side of the county line Farway 😷 the headteacher at one the schools my sister works at has had CV 6 times! The joy of working with primary children although my sister has avoided it.

Although I was off I did drive into the office to drop off the spare laptop it ensured the car got a decent drive as I did a couple of other bits when out, I did add a extra 10 miles to my trip by getting part way to work and remembering my door pass, just as well I went back for it as there was no one In the office today so I wouldn't have got in.  I came home via Sainsbury, just buying a few bits of fresh for the week.

Lunch was the last of the chicken soup.  Dinner a cheese omelette and chips before going out to a friend for the evening

Promising bit of sunshine now the clouds have cleared, hope it turns out fine again
A bit of an unintended lie in this morning, woke about 5.30 ish next thing it was gone 8 and still in bed :o . Luckily nothing planned for today so no harm done

Trying to decide on today's food, too much choice again, and with the weather, stew or salad?
Lunch easy decision, another salad sarnie
Dinner, as above, nuking LO stew would be a very easy option but tempted by a sirloin steak salad. Have to wait & see nearer the time

    Good morning everyone,
Dry, mild and trying to be sunny here this morning. I'm making the most of it and have all the windows and the back door open to air the place. Hector is entertaining himself by running in and out with various toys like a one-man relay race!  :)
My back is easier today, I'm hoping a day of gentle pottering will help the stiffness. I could barely manage the exercises recommended by the physio yesterday but they were much less painful to do earlier.
Cooked a chicken & veg traybake/bung in last night so LOs of that for lunch. Scampi, mushy peas and oven chips for dinner.

I expected a frost this morning as I had to defrost the car when I came home last night but it was a little warmer today.

i had a half price breakfast voucher from the garden centre which needed using before the end of the month (couldn't be used Sunday) so my sister went just after 10 and it was so busy, when we got there they said 30 minute wait tIme and at the till she said 1.5hr  :# but it ended up 40 mins and was worth the wait, it came with unlimited tea/coffee 🙂 9 items plus tea and toast for £4.99 and it was really well cooked a lovely big plate of food 😋 TBH we agreed the usual price of £10 would be good value, we did wonder if the bacon and sausage was from their butcher?

We did spend money on the way out in their sale stuff which I'm assuming is the plan 😁 I've been looking at electric windowsill propagators and they had one left at 70% off 😁 will need to plan the greenhouse soon. We came home via Homebase and my sister got the blind she wanted for £7 as the box was damaged

I wasn't that hungry tonight so had a prawn salad for dinner

  • Lots of bargains there, Brambling 😀. I, on the other hand, have spent more than planned. Farm shop chicken was more than expected, car needed more oil than I had left in the bottle from last time and I decided I might as well fill up with petrol while I was out, plus realised last night that my eyebrows were in need of some attention and got an appointment for this afternoon 😬

Other than all of that, I have stayed in and done domestic chores and watched some easy rubbish on telly.

Lunch was cheese on toast with grilled vine tomatoes. Dinner was a Lidl beetroot burger, handful of oven chips, baked mushrooms and vine tomatoes.

Grey & dull morning, one of those dreary looking days

Brambling, electric window sill propagators are good, I have one donkey years old, from Boots when they were "Old Style" with garden & everything else department type store, competing with Timothy Whites it was so long ago. Still going strong and used every Spring, mine's very posh and has a thermostat control with four smaller seed trays

Lunch, given the weather the JKS option of cheese on toast sounds more tempting today than a salad sarnie
Dinner, Realised I have a RM Pukka pie in the fridge, so it's that plus nuked LO mash, fresh [ish]  bought for Christmas sprouts & carrots
