  • I never iron anything!

I have eaten so badly this weekend. I had Gregg's and a meal out at a restaurant on Saturday and then I had Burger King before the film too!

I am feeling like I need some healthy food. I had a bowl of muesli with fresh strawberries and banana and a cup of green tea for breakfast.

    Good morning everyone,
Don't think I've ironed anything since September!
My sister and nephew are coming for dinner tonight. It's her birthday and a traditional pub style salad has been requested. Pineapple ring anyone? Roasted a chook yesterday and slow cooked a small gammon. There will also be grated cheese, hard boiled eggs, coleslaw, beetroot, pineapple, pickled onions, green salad, oven chips and crusty bread. Think that covers the brief!

Very frosty and sunny start to the day, but it looks bitterly cold out there

The "pub salad" sounds lovely Caron, no Branston?

I was up late this morning, fell back to sleep, and then it was gone eight before I woke up again.
Which meant breakfast was just toast & marmalade, but the marmalade was a jar of homemade I was given, took me back to childhood tastes, dark, thick cut & tangy, the sort you just can't buy any more no matter what the price
And TBH the sort I CBA to make

Lunch, a use up mushrooms omelette
Dinner, clear out freezer Holland's frozen Kate & Sidney steamed pudding, with use up spuds HM mash & posh frozen mixed veg
The S & K puds were bought on a whim, but require forty minutes steaming :o , not ideal, but I can bung the mixed veg in there as well
The posh frozen veg is Mark's, with Chantenay carrots not your common sliced ones

  • Still cold here, really hoping it changes soon.

Office today so portion of Thai spiced butternut squash soup and a toasted pitta for lunch. Been a long day so glad tonight was pesto pasta with broccoli and green beans, added the half tin of tuna that was kicking around to tonight’s portion. LO of the base dish for lunch tomorrow, will add the bit of smoked salmon that’s kicking around to that 😉

Just leave the pineapple off mine please Caronc 🙂

I was woken up this morning just after 3.30am I could hear voices (no not in my head!) I did check my iPad as I had been listening to a podcast before bed, also my clock radio alarm has gotten very temperamental recently, it is about 35 years old and his lordship sits on it, i think it has a loose wire  :# it changes the time amongst other things if moved. I think it was a car outside with music/radio on which is unusual for our quiet close.  I had problems going back to sleep and was reluctant to get up. It did make me bite the bullet and order a new radio alarm clock, I prefer that rather than using my phone and preferably one I can find the snooze button with my eyes closed 🥱

LO sweet and sour cauliflower for lunch. I made red curry with coconut milk with lamb shanks in the pressure cooker for dinner 😋 there was enough meat for 3 portions and enough LO curry sauce for four smaller portions in the freezer to use with LO meat, I may have over catered :#  The curry made a change from the casserole I originally planned when I picked up the lamb shanks on offer at the beginning of the summer

I did think of Wednesday when I realised I had forgotten to buy carrots at the weekend and after making soup yesterday I only had a small sad one to add to my curry tonight 😐

Aw. I checked my carrots in the fridge as I have been eating out a lot, but they are still fine. I don't think you get as many as a bag as you used to!

I had my usual toast for breakfast. I don't think I have even had the porridge once since I bought it the other day. I need to go out and get a haircut later.

Frost free & grey start to the day, just gloomy but at least no rain

Reading about your radio Brambling has set me thinking, the one I use for snoozing off to is a battery powered Roberts one, bought years back from a charity shop, and it's now having sound troubles, a bit like the crystal sets of childhood, very scratchy and fading away
I may need to fork out soon, it seems.

Just checked, same model, new, is still on sale, for under £20 so not as bad as I thought it would be, but I do fancy one that will get internet stations but like you don't want to use my phone, too fiddly with bleary eyes & fumbling fingers, maybe a smart speaker would be what I need there, but that will require much more investigation before I go there

Feeling a bit lethargic this morning, not sure if it's the gloomy weather or something lurking, but I have nothing planned, so it's not a problem, and now Happy Valley has completed I can binge it on i player if I want, I refrained for watching weekly just so I can binge it

Had my usual shopping update from Asda, some items are in short supply, but I'll leave it as is, due tomorrow morning and if there is not a growing parsley pot or some naan bread I reckon I'll survive

Food today, because I'm not really hungry it will be easy what I fancy options, possibly open a tin of veg curry for lunch and a frozen Chinese MFO for dinner?

    Good morning everyone,
Yes there was Branston Farway. :) Voluntary admin will take up most of today, there's leftovers from last night so don't need to do much for dinner tonight. Will cook baked spuds in the air fryer and make fresh salad and that's about it. I had planned curry but that can get bumped until later in the week or next week. Cheese & pineapple toastie for lunch.
  • Wish I needed an alarm - seem to be waking up between 5.15 and 5.30 every morning 🙄

Didn’t leave the house all day, still cold, although I think it might be changing overnight/into tomorrow. Lunch was the leftover pasta with the LO smoked salmon. Early tea of beans with toast before swimming (did leave the house for that 😂, windscreen was starting to freeze over 🥶)

lunch was a mug of chicken soup.  It was a lazy dinner a portion of lasagna from the freezer with salad
