  • A very relaxed day today after all of the adventures (and driving) yesterday. Grey and damp on and off too so only left the house to go for a swim mid-morning. Other than that I have pottered and caught up on some of my voluntary admin.

Lunch was a posh fishfinger sandwich (in a toasted pitta). Made Chinese chicken traybake tonight, served with rice and stir fried veg. There’s LO chicken and rice for an egg fried rice creation tomorrow 😉. While the oven was on I roasted a couple of sad carrots with an onion, some chickpeas and some lime/chilli seasoning. Turned it into a couple of days lunches by adding to a pouch of Middle Eastern style grains, the end of a pack of coriander and a scattering of blue cheese 😋

Family dinner sounds lovely Brambling, I used to have an old large oil cloth that was placed under high chairs and messy toddlers!

I think his lordship will object less about a oil cloth than he would a dog 😁 although if he doesn't install a snooze button i may ignore the objection 🙄

I felt a little icky this morning I think too much bad food especially wheat this week  :s  so a easy day of reading and catch-up tv on the programmes my sister talks through 🤫

I skipped lunch and dinner was a portion of minestrone from the freezer

i'm off tomorrow as well so will need to catch up on my to do list then

A bright, sunny start but clouding over now, just as I decided it was another salad day.

Today's tasks are phoning up & renew the car breakdown, same price as last year for a change, maybe they are getting fed up with everyone just swapping from RAC to AA and back again the next year?
And update my Asda online shop, I need to add the spuds I deleted earlier and maybe prune the biscuits having found a pack of bourbons lurking in a cupboard

Food today, Lunch unhealthy use up of LO tinned bacon grill, fried eggs & use up nuked mushrooms and maybe toast of fried bread
Dinner, cooked roast chicken quarter defrosting, with HM AF chips & salad

    Good morning everyone,
    Enjoy your quiet day Brambling.
Grey, wet and windy here today though quite mild.
Domestics and admin on the "to do".
The lamb yielded more than expected so there's enough for lunch time roll with salad and a tub for the freezer mixed with gravy.
I've chicken thighs defrosting to make the chicken, rice and pea traybake for dinner.

  • I had toast and Marmite for breakfast.

We are going out for a walk on the beach later and I want to try the cheesecake from a local cafe that I haven't tried yet.:)

At the grand old age of !* I just discovered fine egg noodles. Not only that but how to make spicy crispy ones. They have the advantage, given todays energy costs, of cooking very quickly. I'll be having some tonight with a leftover mince concoction.
In the interests of money saving, I really ought to learn to make my own pasta. Previous attempts have been somewhat rubbish. :#
  • The clock change has really upset my body clock this time, was awake at 3.30 this morning for over an hour then woke really suddenly about 6.10. Office day so got up and dressed and got on with it.

Lunch was half of the grains with roasted carrot and onion plus crumbled blue cheese 😋

Made a quick egg fried rice with LO hoisin chicken plus cabbage and sugar snap peas tonight.

Yesterday morning I was feeling icky and unfortunately I spent most of the night with a upset tummy, I did check the peppermints I had been eating to ensure they weren't sugar free 😬 things settled by late morning but I've been careful about eating.  My list of chores was barely started today and it's back to working tomorrow.  I did go after 4pm to pick up my annual thyroid blood test form from the doctor surgery and parked in the Sainsbury car park so picked up a couple of bags of cat litter for a friend (not my money but £2 cheaper than the Pets at home bags she asked me to get).  No time to get the blood test done so will need to fit that in one day soon as it takes at least an hour

No lunch for me but I did have some crackers and a banana for dinner

  • I just had crackers with marg and Marmite for breakfast as we don't have much food left as the groceries are coming today.

I keep looking at the clock too and it seems like the wrong time. It is weird how losing an hour can disrupt you.

Looks very grey and blustery out there. I wanted to pop to the shop but my husband is still asleep and we are waiting for an Amazon delivery.

A very wet night, woke me up with gales about 0330, tipping down as well. There was a weather warning for this bit of South coast, which stretched across to Brambling, so I hope the new greenhouse is OK. Sun has come out now, so I guess it's blown out or up country

Updated my Asda list for tomorrow, some items have increased in price in the few days since I made the list, butter is one but this time I'm on the posh stuff as it was only 15p or so more [on offer] than own brand and thought I'd splurge out.
I just went back in to add some flour and found other stuff has vanished out of stock, like eggs, see bird flu below :s , so I've left the list alone and will just wait & see how it pans out, again

I suppose with the bird flu and locking birds in will start a Turkey panic buying now, just the year I've added a small one to my Christmas list as well :| , too early for me to worry about that, it'll be either in stock or not, they'll probably sub with sausages on the day anyway

Talking of sausages, I've decided on toad in the hole today and posh bangers are out defrosting. I've never really made a decent TIH, tastes OK, but nothing like the ones I've seen & eaten elsewhere. I'm having it with mash & some steamed frozen veg once I check what I have lurking, I know there are some very old ex Christmas sprouts in there so that is one candidate before I get more for this Christmas

Lunch, thinking about a plebby cheapo fish F sarnie and ketchup
